It’s a potential Super Bowl 56 preview on Sunday when the Green Bay Packers visit the Baltimore Ravens. We know that former MVP Aaron Rodgers will play for the Packers, but it’s not clear if former MVP Lamar Jackson will play for the Ravens. That obviously will affect the NFL odds.

Series History
The Packers are 4-2 all-time against the Ravens, including a 1-1 mark at Baltimore. Four of the six matchups between the two teams have been decided by more than 12 points. The Packers last played at the Ravens in 2013, coming out victorious, 19-17.
Why Bet on Green Bay?
Green Bay (10-3) would be the NFC’s No. 1 seed if the playoffs started today. The Packers handled the Bears 45-30 last week. Aaron Rodgers passed for 341 yards and four touchdowns and ranks tied for fifth in the league with 27 touchdown passes this season. With three touchdown passes on Sunday, this will mark his eighth career season with at least 30 touchdown passes, the fifth-most in NFL history. Rodgers, who played in his second NFL game exactly 16 years ago Sunday at Baltimore, has now won 10-or-more starts in 10 seasons.
Davante Adams caught 10-of-13 targets for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Adams was held to one catch before hitting a 38-yard touchdown at the end of the first half. He added a goal-line TD with the Packers piling on points in the fourth quarter.
Cornerback Rasul Douglas returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown last week, after returning an interception 33 yards for another score in Week 13. Douglas is the first Packers player with interception-return TDs in consecutive games since Hall of Famer Herb Adderley in 1965.
Running back Aaron Jones (illness/knee) did not participate in practice on Wednesday or Thursday. Jones got shaken up during the Packers’ win over the Bears. Over 12 games, Jones has 927 total yards and nine total touchdowns. Jones’ illness is not COVID-19 (at least as of now) because he was not placed on the reserve list. If Jones can’t go on Sunday against the Ravens, backup A.J. Dillon – who actually leads the team in rushing yards – would take over the bulk of the touches at running back.
Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur aims to lead his team to 11-or-more wins in each of his first three seasons as an NFL head coach. Since the 1970 league merger, only Jim Harbaugh (San Francisco, 2011-13) and former Ravens defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano (Indianapolis, 2012-14) have accomplished that.
This is Green Bay’s 10th season with 10-plus wins since 2009, No. 2 in the NFL over that span behind only New England (11). Dating back to 2019, Green Bay is 8-3 against AFC opponents, a .727 winning percentage that ranks No. 2 in the NFL over that span (Tampa Bay, 9-3, .750). Green Bay ranks No. 7 in the NFL in points per game (27.3) against AFC opponents since 2019.
Why Bet on Baltimore?
The Packers will be looking to snap the Ravens’ 13-game winning streak against NFC teams. It is the longest streak by an AFC team vs. the NFC since New England’s 17-game winning streak in 2005-09.
Baltimore lost in Cleveland last week 24-22 and lost star QB Lamar Jackson to an ankle injury. He hasn’t practiced this week and probably won’t. Offensive coordinator Greg Roman indicated that even he won’t have a great idea of whether Jackson will play or not. “That’s a hard one. I think it could go down to the wire,” Roman said.
If Jackson can’t go, backup quarterback Tyler Huntley will start for the second time this season. Veteran quarterback Josh Johnson, who the Ravens signed off the New York Jets’ practice squad Wednesday, practiced Thursday and would back up Huntley.
“We feel really confident about Tyler,” Roman said. “Whether he starts the game, or enters the game at some point, we feel really good about him, the direction he’s going, and the development he’s shown. … I think he’s a winner, and everybody believes in him.”
Not only is Jackson’s status uncertain for Sunday, but a group of offensive linemen are dealing with injuries, including Tyre Phillips (illness), Alejandro Villanueva (knee) and Ben Powers (foot). Pro Bowl fullback Patrick Ricard (knee/back) and tight end Nick Boyle (knee) are also still dealing with injuries.
Wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown (illness) and safety Chuck Clark (reserve/COVID-19 list) also didn’t practice Thursday. Clark’s absence would be a big blow as the Ravens are already without their other starting safety Deshon Elliott (pectoral) for the remainder of the season. If he can’t go, Geno Stone would likely step in for him in the secondary.
