Must-Bet NFL Games Week 7

Must-Bet NFL Games Week 7

Written by on October 18, 2022

As we enter Week 7 of this NFL season, there have been a whopping 32 games in which a team has come back to win or tie after trailing in the fourth quarter, tied with 1989 (32) for the most such games through Week 6 in NFL history. Keep that in mind when live betting. Nine teams that missed the playoffs last year are at .500 or better. Here are two must-bet games in Week 7.

Indianapolis at Tennessee (-2)

This will already wrap up the season series between the two teams leading the AFC South. In Week 4 at Indianapolis, the Titans won 24-17. Derrick Henry rushed for a season-high 114 yards and a touchdown. He needed less than two quarters to top 100 yards and stake the Titans to a 24-3 lead. Henry also caught three passes for 33 as Tennessee improved to 25-1 when he has at least 25 touches. QB Ryan Tannehill was 17 of 21 with 137 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Three turnovers and the three missed scoring chances over the final 16 minutes were just too much to overcome for the Colts. Star running back Jonathan Taylor had 20 carries for 42 yards before leaving the game. Matt Ryan was 27 of 37 with 356 yards, two TD passes and one interception.

The Colts have won two straight since that loss despite playing without the injured Taylor. It sounds like the 2021 rushing champion will return. Even without Taylor — and Nyheim Hines — the Colts got strong production from the backfield in last week’s 34-27 win over Jacksonville. It was Deon Jackson who stepped up to the tune of 22 touches for 121 total yards and a touchdown. His big impact came as a receiver, grabbing 10 receptions for 79 yards. Expect Jackson to stay involved even with Taylor back.

Titans pass-rusher Bud Dupree hasn’t played since aggravating a hip injury in Week 4 against the Colts, which originally happened during a Week 2 matchup with the Bills. But he will play Sunday. Safety Amani Hooker will return to the Titans’ secondary after missing the team’s last two contests with a concussion. On the season, the safety has made 12 tackles while deflecting two passes, intercepting another and forcing a fumble over three games played.

Meanwhile, the Titans’ Henry needs just one touchdown to tie Eddie George’s franchise record for career touchdowns, and two to break it. George totaled 74 touchdowns during his career with the Titans (from 1996-2003). Henry is currently tied with Earl Campbell’s mark of 73 career touchdowns.

Kansas City at San Francisco (+2.5)

Rematch of the Super Bowl from three seasons ago won in comeback fashion by Kansas City. They could have a rematch this winter in Phoenix. Since taking over as Kansas City’s starting quarterback in 2018, Patrick Mahomes leads the league with 20,443 passing yards and 168 touchdown passes. Through 69 career regular-season starts, he has compiled a 54-15 record, including a win in his first-career start in Week 17 of the 2017 season.

With a win Sunday, Mahomes will tie Hall of Famer Ken Stabler (55 wins) for the second-most wins ever by a quarterback through his first 70 career starts. Only Hall of Famer Otto Graham (56) has more. Mahomes’ top target this season has been tight end Travis Kelce, who leads the league with seven touchdown receptions, leads tight ends with 41 catches and ties for the lead among tight ends with 455 receiving yards.

With nine receptions and 45 receiving yards on Sunday, Kelce will have totaled at least 50 receptions and 500 receiving yards for the ninth-consecutive season, surpassing Antonio Gates (eight consecutive seasons) for the third-longest such streak by a tight end in NFL history. Only Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez (16 consecutive seasons) and Jason Witten (15) have longer streaks of 50 receptions and 500 receiving yards.

Dating to Week 15 of the 2021 season, Kelce has recorded a touchdown reception in each of his past six road games. With another Sunday, he will tie Marcus Pollard (seven consecutive road games from 2000-01) for the most consecutive road games with a touchdown reception by a tight end in NFL history.

A lot was made about how the Chiefs offense would function without wide receiver Tyreek Hill. His absence has forced Mahomes to spread the ball around and become a more efficient, patient passer. And through six games, Mahomes and Buffalo’s Josh Allen are tied for first with 17 touchdown passes. Mahomes continues to be effective when under pressure, ranking first in touchdowns per pass attempt and third in first downs per pass attempt.

The 49ers’ 2022 season hasn’t gone according to plan. After six weeks they’re 3-3, and crushed by injuries, including one to starting QB Trey Lance which derailed the club’s development plan for the former No. 3 overall pick. Despite all of that, San Francisco is still first in the NFC West

There is positive news on the injury front for the 49ers. The team welcomed back three of their starters, defensive end Nick Bosa (groin), safety Jimmie Ward (hand) and left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) to practice on Wednesday. All three have been rehabbing their respective injuries and worked out with the team in a limited capacity.

San Francisco has been without their All-Pro left tackle since the second half of their matchup against the Denver Broncos in Week 3. Williams has been working through a high ankle sprain and is trending in the right direction healthwise. Bosa was a limited participant in the team’s final practice in West Virginia after sustaining a groin strain in Week 5.
