The Philadelphia Eagles were the last team to lose in the NFL this season and try to avoid a two-game skid when they visit Indianapolis on Sunday. However, the Eagles are better than TD favorites on the NFL odds.

Why Bet on Philadelphia?
Philly’s dreams of an unbeaten season went up in smoke on Monday in a 32-21 home loss to Washington as an 11-point favorite. The Eagles had three turnovers on the year entering the game and four in it. As the Commanders forced four turnovers, the Washington offense controlled the game with the rushing attack, maintaining possession for 40:24 and converting 12 third-down situations. In this copycat league, teams saw Houston have success running the football against the Eagles two games ago and Washington came right out and ran the ball, ran the ball, and on third-and-short situations, converted for first downs.“That’s pretty simple,” Coach Nick Sirianni said. “The turnovers lost us the game. The time of possession loses you the game. We lost it together: offense, defense, special teams, we lost it together. That’s what lost us the game.”
MVP candidate Jalen Hurts completed 17-of-26 passes for 174 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Hurts’ interception was a heave to A.J. Brown that hit the normally sure-handed receiver in the gloves. Philly also committed five penalties for 75 yards, often blundering at crucial moments. Hurts had a quiet game on the ground, rushing six times for 28 yards, but found the end zone once again.
The Eagles got some bad news as well as No. 1 tight end Dallas Goedert was hurt in the game and placed on injured reserve. He’ll miss at least four games, which means he’s not eligible to play until the Bears game on Dec. 18. Goedert is one of Hurts’ primary options in the passing game. He is second on the team in receiving yards (544) and is tied for second in receiving touchdowns with three. Rookie Grant Calcaterra will likely see an increased role in Goedert’s absence, along with Jack Stoll.
“How do we replace him? You can’t,” Sirianni said Wednesday of Goedert.
To help the run defense, the Eagles signed tackle Linval Joseph, formerly of the Chargers. Joseph, 34, started 14 games for Los Angeles last season, posting 57 tackles (three for loss), a sack and two quarterback hits. At 6-foot-4 and 329 pounds, he has experience as a space-eating nose tackle — a position rookie Jordan Davis shined in before suffering a high ankle sprain on Oct. 30 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, landing him on injured reserve. The Eagles allow the second highest rush EPA in the league. Why Bet on Indianapolis?
The Colts made the surprising recent decision to fire Coach Frank Reich, which wasn’t a surprise, but what was is the team replaced him with former Colts Pro Bowl center and ESPN analyst Jeff Saturday, who had never coached above high school. Indy won Saturday’s debut in an upset, 25-20 at Las Vegas to snap a three-game losing streak.
Saturday went back to veteran Matt Ryan as his starting QB and Ryan completed 21-of-28 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown, adding four carries for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Ryan’s rushing score was a one-yard sneak. It was one of Ryan’s best overall performances as a Colt, and just the second where he took fewer than two sacks.
Saturday confirmed Wednesday that Sam Ehlinger will remain in a backup role for Sunday’s game against the Eagles with Ryan set to make a second straight start. Though the mobile Ehlinger, a 2021 sixth-round pick, has more theoretical upside than the 37-year-old Ryan at this stage of his career, the 4-5-1 Colts aren’t yet ready to wave the white flag on the season.
Jonathan Taylor rushed 22 times for 147 yards and a touchdown in the win, adding two receptions for 16 additional yards. Struggling off and on with ankle issues since Week 4, Taylor finally appeared all the way back after sitting out in Week 9. His 100-yard day on the ground was his first since the opener, and powered by a 66-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. This week, the Colts announced that All-Pro linebacker Shaquille Leonard (back) had surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the 2022 season. Leonard, one of the best off-ball linebackers in the league, played just 74 defensive snaps this season. He underwent surgery in June to address the problem and had a slow and methodical recovery that sidelined him for the season’s first three games. After initially returning and sustaining a broken nose in Week 4, Leonard was back on the field in Weeks 8 and 9 before leaving practice early on Wednesday with a sensation that “felt different,” according to Saturday.
