Betting Week 7 NFL Games

Like every week, the National Football League has fantastic quarterback matchups in NFL Week 7.

Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes takes on the 49ers’ Brock Purdy in San Francisco in a Super Bowl rematch but that isn’t the top matchup.

Detroit’s Jared Goff versus Minnesota’s Sam Darnold and Houston’s CJ Stroud against Green Bay’s Jordan Love at Lambeau promise to be scintillating.

Also, on Monday night, Baker and the Bucs take on Lamar and the Ravens.

Check out NFL betting information, analysis, and picks for this week’s top QB matchups.

Writer’s NFL Quarterback Picks for the Week 7 Matchups

Baltimore – Lamar Jackson at Tampa Bay – Baker Mayfield

Sunday, October 20th, 2024

Baker Mayfield threw 3 interceptions early against the Saints but rallied his team to a 51-27 victory with 4 TDs versus New Orleans.

Mayfield is at home.

So Baker could outplay Lamar in this but let’s be real.

Jackson, the reigning MVP, is the best player in the NFL.

Heading into week 7, Lamar has thrown for 10 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and for 1,529 yards.

He’s also rushed for 403 yards, a 6.3 per carry average, and 2 TDs.

Lamar wins the prime time QB matchup of the week.

NFL Week 7 QB Pick: Lamar Jackson

Houston – CJ Stroud at Green Bay – Jordan Love

Sunday, October 20th, 2024

This is going to be good.

Both Stroud and Love were on fire in NFL Week 6.

Love dominated Arizona’s defense with 258 yards and 4 TD passes.

Stroud blasted the Patriots with 3 TD passes.

Both quarterbacks will step it up in this but Love will have to throw for more yards because Houston’s defense is likely to shut down Green Bay’s rushing attack.

Love gets the nod.

NFL Week 7 QB Pick: Jordan Love

Kansas City – Patrick Mahomes at San Francisco – Brock Purdy

Sunday, October 20th, 2024

Kansas City is undefeated but it’s not because Patrick Mahomes is posting MVP stats.

Mahomes has the same amount of TDs, 6, as he does interceptions.

Brock Purdy should outplay the Magic One in this.

The San Francisco offense leans heavily on Purdy’s ability to throw the football while KC’s offense is methodical and leans on a tough defense.

Purdy wins the QB battle even though KC should have a chance to win straight up in the fourth quarter.

NFL Week 7 QB Pick: Brock Purdy

Detroit – Jared Goff at Minnesota – Sam Darnold

Sunday, October 20th, 2024

Goff was unreal versus the Cowboys, completing over 70% of his passes and throwing 3 touchdowns.

Overall, Goff has thrown 4 picks to 8 TDs.

He can beat any team and rates as one of the top signal callers in the NFL.

Sam Darnold, though, can do no wrong.

Darnold has become an NFL MVP contender for the Vikings because he doesn’t make many mistakes.

The 27 year old has 11 TDs and just 4 INTs.

He gets the benefit of playing with the great Justin Jefferson.

He also gets to play on the same team as a defense coached by mastermind Brian Flores.

NFL Week 7 QB Pick: Sam Darnold

Seattle – Geno Smith at Atlanta – Kirk Cousins

Sunday, October 20th, 2024

Both guys can sling it.

Smith has more weapons on paper because DK Metcalf counts as two WR1s.

But Cousins plays at home.

Not only that, Kirk has found his rhythm during Atlanta’s 3-game winning streak.

Cousins has now thrown 9 TDs to 5 INTs and for close to 1,600 yards.

Cousins wins the matchup.

NFL Week 7 QB Pick: Kirk Cousins

LAC – Justin Herbert at Arizona – Kyler Murray – Monday

Monday, October 21st, 2024

Justin Herbert got to play his game and look what happened?

The Chargers cooled off the scorching Broncos 23-16.

Herbert’s stats weren’t worldly, he threw for just 237 yards and a single TD, but the Bolts handled the top ranked defense in the NFL.

Murray and the Cards played a horrible game in an embarrassing road loss to the Packers.

Kyler can bounce back at home but he won’t.

The Chargers have a great defense and John Harbaugh should open the offense even more for Herbert after seeing Jordan Love throw 4 TDs against Arizona’s defense.

NFL Week 7 QB Pick: Justin Herbert

NFL Updates of the Week – March 1st Edition

Previous Betting News

The most important weekend yet in 2019 for the NFL takes place starting on Friday, March 1 when the NFL Combine really kicks it up a notch. Also this week, teams decided to give up on keeping some major players. That means those players will hit free agency at 4:00 pm ET on March 14.

Check out what happened in the National Football League this week!

NFL Updates of the Week – March 1st Edition

Massive Weekend with NFL Combine, Big Name Free Agent Hits Market

NFL Combine:  Will Kyler Murray improve his draft position?

Murray’s scheduled to work out on Saturday, March 2. He’ll try to improve his draft position and sneak into the first round with electrifying displays of quickness with his feet and a rocket arm. Murray’s behind the eight ball when it comes to the NFL because he only measured 5’ 10” earlier this week.

If the Heisman Trophy winner doesn’t step it up, he might have to reconsider his decision to forego a baseball career and enter the NFL Draft. There might not be a reason to give up baseball if he won’t be drafted until round 2 or later.

If you want to get come NFL betting action right now, you can still get NFL Combine odds at our online sportsbook by clicking here.

Jason Witten Decides He’s Not Done with Football

Former Dallas Cowboys’ tight-end Jason Witten decided he couldn’t quite get rid of the itch. He tried scratching it with a job as a color commentator, but it wasn’t enough. When training camp opens for the Cowboys in the summer, Witten will be there to reclaim his starting tight-end position.

That’s great news for both Witten, who never seemed comfortable in the booth, the Cowboys, and their legion of fans.

Nick Foles headed to free agency

Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl MVP winning quarterback Nick Foles is headed to free agency. The Eagles declined to place the franchise tag on Foles. That means Nick can offer his services to the highest-bidder.

One of the highest-bidders could be the Denver Broncos even though they recently traded for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco. John Elway, the Broncos’ GM, said he wanted Case Keenum to return to the team as a backup while Flacco starts.

But, Foles’ availability could change things. Nick showed again last season that’s he’s got what it takes to be a full time starter in the NFL. Elway can’t continue to waste that awesome defense. The Broncos must win now, which means John might make a play for Foles.

Other teams interested in Foles should be the Washington Redskins, New York Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Miami Dolphins. The Fins are done with Tannehill. They’ve given Ryan the benefit of the doubt for years. The Giants are almost done with Eli, who might retire after this season, while the Redskins have no clue if Alex Smith returns one-hundred percent from the devastating injury he suffered last season.

The team with the best shot of acquiring Foles’ services are the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacksonville should be the perfect place for Foles. With Foles at quarterback, Jacksonville becomes a contender in the AFC. You can’t win in the NFL unless you’ve got a quarterback that can lead your team. The Jags are in desperate need of leadership.

That could be Nick Foles. If it happens, watch out. Super Bowl 2020 odds on the Jags could plummet like what happened when the Philadelphia Phillies signed Bryce Harper in MLB.

NYJ looking to trade third pick in round 1

The New York Jets own the third pick in the NFL Draft. New coach Adam Gase, because he’s already got his quarterback in Sam Darnold, wants to trade for a massive haul of picks later in round 1 and into round 2 and round 3.

Gase and the Jets could pull it off. The thing about NYJ is that they’re only a few players away from being a contender. If they can put together a solid offensive line, grab a workhorse RB, and a linebacker, they’d be right there.

The secondary is pretty good while the wide receivers aren’t terrible. Who knows? Gase might be in the perfect position to regain the genius label placed on him when he ran the Broncos’ and Bears’ offenses and before he flamed out as head coach in Miami.

NFL Updates of the Week – March 8th Edition

The 2019-2020 NFL Season officially starts on Wednesday, March 13 at 4:00pm ET. At that point, every NFL team can start making the phone calls and signing free agents. NFL Updates of the Week – March 8th Edition

Antonio Brown is Likely to Go To the Raiders, Titans, or Redskins

The Pittsburgh Steelers lowered their trade request from a Round 1 NFL Draft Pick and other compensation (whatever that was!) to simply a Round 1 pick. Right now, the Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Titans, and Washington Redskins are the 3 teams rumored to be in the running for AB’s services.

A sure-fire hall of fame wide receiver, the disgruntled Antonio Brown would love to play for Oakland. He and Raiders quarterback Derek Carr got all chummy at the Pro Bowl this year. Carr gushed about AB. Brown gushed about Derek. Also, the Raiders have much more to work with. Due to trades during the season, Oakland has 3 Round 1 picks this year. They could trade one of those for Brown.

The Steelers could then package their Round 1 pick with whatever they got from the Raiders to move up and grab a player like DE Nick Bosa from Ohio State, or move out of Round 1 all together and get a ton of picks in Round 2 and Round 3.

Either way, a Raiders-Steelers deal seems like the most likely scenario. Outside of AB going to Oakland, the next most likely scenario has him going to Tennessee. The Titans have a decent quarterback in Marcus Mariota. The only reason Tennessee doesn’t throw the ball more is because Marcus has nobody at the WR position he can throw the ball too with the talent AB’s got.

Washington’s the least likely destination just because their quarterback situation is a mess. Brown won’t add much to Washington in the way of improving their offense.

…Speaking of Washington, Welcome, Case Keenum

The Broncos are trading quarterback Case Keenum to Washington for Round 6 and Round 7 picks. Denver signed Joe Flacco while Keenum bombed at Mile High last season. Washington needed a quarterback because last year’s starter Alex Smith suffered a major injury. Smith’s career’s likely done, which makes Keenum the automatic starter in D.C.

Even with Keenum, Washington’s a longshot to get AB.

Murray Bombs in Interviews

Per NFL Network commentator Charley Casserly, Kyler Murray bombed during the interview process at last weekend’s NFL Combine. Murray, the Heisman Trophy Winner and projected first pick in April’s NFL Draft, had trouble drawing up plays on the big board and didn’t provide the necessary answers teams look for from quarterback prospects to assess their leadership skills.

If Casserly’s right, Murray could fall out of Round 1. Right now, new Arizona head coach Kliff  Klingsbury wans to draft Murray with the Cardinals’ first pick in Round 1. Klingsbury recruited Murray and believes in his skills.

But, Murray’s still a short quarterback, measuring 5’ 10”, who wanted to play baseball until winning the Heisman Trophy. His football knowledge might not be where it must to succeed at the highest level. We’ll see how Arizona plays this. Right now, it’s hard to see Zona not picking DE Nick Bosa over Murray unless they can package the first pick for two picks in Round 1.

Nick Foles a Jaguar? Everyone Thinks So

Officially, the Jacksonville Jaguars can’t say anything until March 13, but off the record, they’ve already made it known that Nick Foles will be their starting quarterback this season. Foles, whom the Eagles allowed to pursue other opportunities by not franchising him this year, is the biggest free agent prize once the clock strikes 4:00 pm on March 13.

He’s already a Jaguar per every NFL analyst in the world. Nick signing with Jacksonville makes a lot of sense. The Jaguars boast a decent defense, meaning he’ll get the ball plenty of times, a good rushing attack, a great front office led by Tom Coughlin, and a team looking for a leader. Foles might not have the best quarterback skills of any signal-caller in the NFL, but his leadership skills are up there with Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Ben Roethlisberger.

If the Jaguars can add pieces to their offensive line in the draft, with Foles under center, they become contenders again.

Next week’s NFL Update should be a awesome! The dominoes will fall quickly once teams are able to sign free agents. Plus, we’ll know where AB has landed.

Have a great week!

NFL Updates of the Week – April 19th Edition

NFL Schedules are Out and the Patriots Should be Happy

The New England Patriots bid farewell to the great Rob Gronkowski, a sure-fire first ballot hall of fame player, earlier this week. Later this week, though, the sting from Gronk’s retirement subdued some after the NFL came out with the regular season schedules.

For being a Super Bowl winner, the Pats sure have an easy path back to the playoffs. The schedule makers weren’t nearly as forgiving to the Philadelphia Eagles after their 2017 Super Bowl victory.

New England starts the season at home on Sep. 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After beating the Steelers, they don’t face another projected top squad until they battle Cleveland at home on Oct. 27. The Patriots could be 7-0 heading into the matchup with the Browns.

The second half of the schedule is somewhat difficult, they’re at Philadelphia, at Baltimore, and at Houston, but New England battles Kansas City at home on Dec. 8, and they take on Dallas at Foxboro Nov. 24. Even if the Patriots go 4-4 in their final 4 games, they’ll have a shot to win home field advantage throughout the playoffs if they go undefeated, which they should, in their first 8 games.

Cleveland Browns Get Four Prime Time Games

The former worst team in NFL history is favored to win its division this season. That’s what happens when you acquire Odell Beckham Jr. to catch passes from your former first pick in the draft quarterback.

The NFL schedule makers have also taken notice. Interest in the Cleveland Browns should be at an all-time high at least since the early 1980’s, which was the last time they were contenders.  Because of that interest, the Browns play in four primetime games this season.

In Week 2, they take on the New York Jets on Monday night. A week later on Sep. 22, they host the L.A. Rams, and then in Week 5 they’re at San Francisco on Monday night. In Week 11, they host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night.

If Cleveland’s good, scheduling four primetime games will pay off. If they’re awful, ratings will suffer. The NFL’s taking a risk here.

Russell Wilson Becomes Highest-Paid Player in NFL History

Going back to actual football news, Russell Wilson’s gambit paid off. In March, Wilson gave the Seattle Seahawks an ultimatum. They had until April 15 to give him a new contract, or he was going to play as a free agent and test the open market after the season.

The Seahawks handed a massive $140 million contract to Wilson that keeps him in Seattle until 2023. The contract comes with a huge $65 million signing bonus and pays Wilson a salary of $35 million per year. It trumps Aaron Rodgers record-breaking deal that he signed with the Packers before last season.

It makes sense for the Seahawks to keep Wilson. The contract’s sort of mind-boggling, but top tier quarterbacks are difficult to find. Why do you think the Saints keep giving money to Drew Brees even though he’s 40-years-old?

Plus, Seattle is sort of like Silicon Valley II. So, Russell needs the money.

Cardinals Will Take Murray and Trade Rosen

This isn’t news, it’s more of a prediction. The Arizona Cardinals will draft Kyler Murray next Thursday night and trade Josh Rosen. Rosen’s a great fit for Kliff Kingsbury’s system, but Kingsbury wants the player he recruited while a college coaching assistant. That’s Murray.

Not only that, Kingsbury’s system will create rushing lanes for his quarterback and Josh doesn’t have the wheels that Kyler does. No matter. Rosen’s a young, good, quarterback. He could end up in Tampa Bay where he’d be a major step up from Jameis Winston. Not only that, but because every team knows the Cards want to trade Rosen, they can get him for cheap.

Rosen’s a first round draft pick. No way Arizona gets close to that on draft day. The longer they wait, the less they must accept. During the draft, they might get a fourth round pick. If they wait until mid-season, they could get a sixth, or seventh round pick.

If I’m Arizona, I try to trade Josh right now, today or over the weekend, before Monday. No use waiting because it’s just going to hurt the Cardinals in the long run.

Have a great week!
