Seahawks’ Offensive Changes During the Offseason

Seattle’s offense didn’t change much from this season to last season. The most significant change was drafting Jaxson Smith-Njigba.

If Smith-Njigba hadn’t taken off his final college season to prepare for the NFL, he likely would have been a Heisman Trophy candidate. No doubt, many feel Smith-Njigba was the best wide receiver in this draft.

Other than drafting Smith-Njigba in the first round, Seattle’s offense is the same from last season.

Seattle Seahawks Quarterbacks Analysis

Veteran Geno Smith had a resurgent 2023. Smith threw for 4,282 yards, 30 touchdowns, and just 11 picks. Smith proved that it’s never too late to hit your NFL peak.

Many believed the Seahawks might go quarterback with the fifth pick in the first round. Instead, Seattle drafted the player they thought was the best cornerback on the board, Illinois player Devon Witherspoon.

Geno has seen it all. So we shouldn’t expect Smith to take a backward step in 2023.

Seattle Seahawks Offensive Line Analysis

Last year, the Seahawks drafted a couple of rookies to play their tackle positions. Left tackle Charles Cross and right tackle Abraham Lucas were home run picks.

Both have become the best at their respective position in the league. The interior is solid. Right guard Phil Haynes is the only question mark, but Haynes plays next to center Evan Brown and Lucas. So Seattle’s RG should be okay.

Seattle Seahawks Wide Receivers Room Analysis

Smith-Njigba’s addition makes Seattle’s WR room one of the best in the NFL. DK Metcalf is a top five wide receiver. He’s on the level of Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase.

In some ways, DK is better than either one of those terrific wideouts. Tyler Lockett remains one of the best deep ball threats in the league. So if Smith-Njigba is everything the Hawks believe he is, Seattle might boast the best wide receivers room in the NFL.

Seattle Seahawks Running Backs Room Analysis

In the Seattle Seahawks, the Seahawks not only secured a pair of bookend tackles for the next decade, but they drafted one of the NFL’s best running backs.

Kenneth Walker III, the Michigan State product, averaged 4.8 yards per carry as a rookie. Walker III is a traditional workhorse back that will take pressure off Geno and the passing game.

There’s not much backing up KWIII. But anybody could rush the ball with success behind Seattle’s O-line.

Seattle Points Scored & Yards Per Game Range Prediction

Seattle had one of the NFL’s top offenses last season. This season should be no different.

Adding Smith-Njigba will help the Seahawks’ score more points and amass more yards. It won’t be a huge difference, but the Seahawks will land in a higher range in both categories.

QB Geno Smith to Win NFL MVP: +3800

Analysis:
The odds make Geno an overlay to win MVP. For sure, beating out Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow won’t be easy, but none of those three possess the receiving weapons that Smith does.

Not only that, but the offensive line ensures Smith stays upright and Kenneth Walker III, if he stays healthy, will help Geno keep defenses guessing. At +3800, Geno Smith is more than playable to win the NFL MVP.
