The bulk of the WorldSBK championship happens on the European continent. This week, the circuit travels to the world’s most famous motorcycle race tracks – the TT Circuit Assen in Assen, Netherlands.
It’s only three races into the SuperBike season. The points this season so far have been concentrated amongst a small handful of riders, teams, and manufacturers. That trend should continue this week at the TT Assen.
Let’s take a look at this week’s race. We should be in for an exciting one. Make sure to stay tuned for more Superbike picks and previews over at MyBookie.com!
TT Circuit Assen: Cathedral of Speed
The TT Circuit Assen is one of the most famous tracks for motorcycles. The track originally opened in 1925. Assen holds the most Grand Prix motorcycle races each year across multiple classes of motorcycle racing.
Assen is a massive venue with room for 60,000 seated spectators and 110,000 fans. World SuperBike races have been held here every year since 1992, with a break in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The course has been upgraded throughout its history to bring it to the four-and-a-half-kilometer track it is today. With 18 turns in all, twelve right turns, and six left turns, Assen promises to deliver exhilarating racing action this week.

Riders to Target at TT Circuit Assen
The new race format for Superbike race weekends, with two races per weekend and a ten-lap “Superpole” race in the middle, has delivered even more action each weekend for Superbike fans.
Through three weekends of races, there have been six races – and defending champion Alvaro Bautista has won five of them. The defending champion has been on fire since the beginning of the season. Bautista also holds the record for the fastest lap in World Superbike at Assen. That record was set by Bautista last year.
The only other rider to threaten Bautista’s dominance of the top podium spot is Turkish racer Toprak Razgatlıoğlu. He’s won both Superpole races this year and has been consistently in the top 3 with Bautista.
Six-time champion Jonathan Rea of Kawasaki is a rider to watch at Assen. The Northern Ireland rider started the season with a 2nd place finish in the first race in Australia but has struggled to find the podium over the last few races, ending in a retired finish last week.
Rea did have the fastest lap in the Superpole race at the Superbike stop in Indonesia, so there’s little doubt that he can run well. There’s plenty of racing left in the six-time former champion. Rea will look to get back on track this week at Assen.
