2024 NFL Season | 104th season of National Football League in the United States
Week 4: Thursday, September 26th – Monday, September 29th, 2024
Betting 2024 NFL Season
The National Football League is always a league with some parity, but it’s never quite been like this.
Through three weeks of the 2024 season, it’s hard to know where teams stand as there have been so many surprising results.
Betting against the spread is typically the top option when it comes to the NFL, but it’s been a good decision to simply bet the moneyline this year.
With that being the case, it’s time to look ahead for the best straight up picks to make heading into Week 4.
Writer’s NFL Over/Under Picks for the Fourth Week of the Season
Los Angeles Rams vs. Chicago Bears -125
The Chicago Bears appear to be a team in disarray as they are struggling to win games yet again.
Chicago does have a great young quarterback, but the rest of the offense just hasn’t been living up to the hype.
This will be a game for the Bears to figure some things out as they are facing the Rams in Los Angeles Rams .
Los Angeles is clearly the better team, but they are dealing with a ton of injuries heading into Week 4.
Bet the Chicago Bears on the moneyline as they will find a way to win this game straight up in Week 4.
NFL SU Picks: Chicago Bears
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers +110
The NFC appears to be wide open this NFL season, and two of the best teams in the conference are meeting in Week 4.
The Philadelphia Eagles are actually slight favorites on the road at Tampa Bay, and this should be a great battle.
Philadelphia has all of the talent needed to win the Super Bowl this season, but they just haven’t been able to put it all together.
Tampa Bay has always been a team that surprises, and that is something to keep in mind in this game.
Jump on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home in this game as they are going to get a massive win.
NFL SU Picks: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Cincinnati Bengals -175 vs. Carolina Panthers
The Cincinnati Bengals have gotten off to a slow start this season, but they are going to turn things around at some point.
Cincinnati is a team that can score points in a hurry, and they should have a massive performance in Week 4 against Carolina.
The Panthers actually picked up a win in Week 3, but that might be one of the only wins that they get this season.
Jump on the Bengals to win the game straight up as they continue to get back on track.
NFL SU Picks: Cincinnati Bengals
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Houston Texans -150
AFC South rivals are set to meet up in Houston in Week 4, and this is a game that will have a big impact on the standings.
It’s been tough to figure these two teams out through three weeks, and the spread is going to be tight for this game.
Homefield advantage is going to be the difference in this game, but it’s hard to bet on the Houston Texans to cover the spread.
Simple bet on Houston at -150 to win this game as they are able to get back on the right track.

How does it work?
What is the Difference between Betting Against the Spread and the Moneyline? Let’s Find Out
Betting against the spread (ATS) involves wagering on a team to cover a specific point margin, meaning they must win by more than that margin or lose by less than it.
This method levels the playing field between favored and underdog teams, making every game competitive for bettors.
On the other hand, the moneyline bet simply requires you to pick the outright winner of the game, regardless of the point margin.
This is often a simpler approach, especially for those new to betting.

Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers | Thursday Night Football
SU Odds: Packers +102
Thursday, September 28th, 2023 at 8:15 PM | PRIME VIDEO
Lambeau Field, Green Bay, WI
Detroit ended up handling the Falcons but a home win against the ATL is much different than a road win versus Green Bay. On Sunday, the Lions’ speed takes a backseat because Lambeau is an outdoor stadium.
Green Bay rallied to beat the New Orleans Saints by a point in their last. The key thing from the Packers’ victory is that QB Jordan Love faced adversity, a 17-point deficit, and found a way to lead his team to victory. The Packers are the play.

Atlanta Falcons at Jacksonville Jaguars

Most are laying the -3 on the Jaguars to win and cover. But it’s impossible to back Jacksonville after the terrible performance against the Houston Texans.
The Jags allowed Houston to score 37 points. Atlanta’s rushing attack, led by Bijan Robinson, will have success in this game. So if Desmond Ridder just plays okay, the ATL scores the win.

Cincinnati Bengals at Tennessee Titans

Nissan Stadium, Nashville, TN
After watching Cincinnati beat Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams, many are laying the points on the Bengals to make it 2 straight.
But this is a road game. Also, the Rams scored a single touchdown in 4 trips inside Cincinnati’s red zone. The game could have easily gone LAR’s way. Cincinnati suffers a let down to go to 1-3.

The Colts played a fantastic game to upset the Baltimore Ravens. We shouldn’t get too excited. Baltimore was without 7 key players.
On Sunday, Indy faces one of the NFL’s top offenses. The Rams sputtered at Cincinnati on Monday night. Two bad offensive performances in a row won’t happen.

Denver Broncos at Chicago Bears
SU Odds: Bears +139
Sunday, October 1, 2023 at 1:00 PM | CBS
Soldier Field, Chicago, IL
Chicago isn’t a good team. The Broncos are worse. Denver gave up 70 points to the Miami Dolphins in their NFL Week 3 loss.
Bouncing back from a 70 points loss will be tough. Also, as bad as Chicago has been, the offense has more flexibility with Justin Fields under center. Bears score a win.

Cleveland looked great beating up the Titans at home while Baltimore gave away a game to the Indianapolis Colts.
Deshaun Watson played terrific football. It’s difficult seeing two straight fantastic performances. In addition, the Browns could bounce and the Ravens should get back some key personnel.

New England Patriots at Dallas Cowboys

AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX
Sometimes, a single loss can affect a team’s entire season. That could be the case with the Cowboys, which looked lethargic on offense and defense.
Bill Belichick will find a way to force Dak into bad throws like the interception he tossed to Arizona in the end zone. Bill O’Brien and Mac Jones have gotten on the same page. So Dallas’ issues at cornerback, Tevon Diggs is out with an injury, will again be on display.

NFL Betting Predictions: Bold Week 4 SU PicksPrevious Betting News
Week 3 of the new NFL season was certainly a memorable one, and for those of you who were with us here last week, I bet you have a lot to smile (and thank us) about, after more than 70 percent of our SU picks for the week were spot on. Looking for similar picks for the Week 4 games? Good for you, because we have this week’s edition of NFL betting SU picks specially prepared for you below.
New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins
The Jets didn’t play that badly in their 24-17 loss to Philadelphia in Week 3, or even in their first two weeks of the season. The Dolphins, on the other hand, were utterly poor in their loss to Buffalo, and Ryan Tannehill is a man under pressure to perform well this week. With a neutral game in London, this could be anyone’s game, but the Dolphins have too much to lose here, something we believe will help Miami to eke away a tight win over the Jets in a very cagey affair.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts
NFL SU Pick: Indianapolis With the pressure of getting their first win out of the way, the Colts will be in their offensive element here, so expect a strong winning performance from them.
New York Giants at Buffalo Bills
This game has all the makings of a shootout affair, with Eli Manning and his receivers doing their thing on one side, and Tyrod Taylor and his triple-threat offense taking care of things for the home team. In the end, though, Buffalo should emerge victorious, owing to their superior defensive strength.
Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
NFL SU Pick: Carolina Jameis Winston has been showing slow-but-sure signs of increasing maturity for the Bucs, but Cam Newton and the Panthers (3-0 SU, 2-1 ATS) are in a whole different class right now. Go with Newton and the Panthers to hand the Buccaneers a beatdown in a potentially high-scoring game.
Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins
NFL SU Pick: Philadelphia After upsetting the Eagles and ending their playoff dreams towards the end of last season, there is a lot of hope in the nation’s capital that a similar result could be in the books. And statistically speaking, the Eagles are yet to impress this season, so it would be hard to rule out Kirk Cousins and the improved Washington defense from winning this game. Still, I have a feeling that Philadelphia’s offense will show up in this game, making life difficult for Washington and leading to a comfy Philly win.
Oakland Raiders at Chicago Bears
NFL SU Pick: Chicago There are many uncertainties in this game, including Jay Cutler’s health, making it hard to give a straight-away prediction. Just about the only guarantee here is that the two leaky defenses will allow massive points and take the total OVER. That said, this is a consecutive road game for Oakland, which will be very draining, while the Bears are very desperate for a first win. Bearing all that in mind, a win for Chicago is the favored pick here.
Houston Texans at Atlanta Falcons
NFL SU Pick: Atlanta J.J. Watt is still J.J. Watt, but Matt Ryan and Julio Jones (league-leader with 440 yards receiving) are beasts who are currently looking unstoppable. So even with the Houston defense playing respectably in this game, Ryan and his explosive offense should be able to claim a fourth win for the Falcons, who are impressively 3-0 SU and ATS for the season.
Kansas City at Cincinnati Bengals
NFL SU Pick: Cincinnati This game reeks of an upset of Cincinnati, going by Kansas City’s near-win over Denver and a good showing over Green Bay at the Lambeau on MNF. However, after Andy Dalton impressively passed for 383 yards and three touchdowns with an interception in their 28-24 road win over Baltimore last week, I am afraid that Dalton’s regular-season magic will not be ending at home, at least not this week. Added to the way Cincy’s defense has been making key plays in their 3-0 run this season, I’m inclined to lean on the Bengals here.
Cleveland Browns at San Diego Chargers
NFL SU Pick: Chargers This is pretty simple—Cleveland’s Josh McCown has been shakier under the center than San Diego’s Philip Rivers. When you combine that with the fact that the Chargers have been performing quite well in their backyard, you get a near-guarantee that San Diego will be easing past Cleveland for a solid home win in this Week 4 clash.
Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers
NFL SU Pick: Green Bay If Jim Harbaugh was still around, I’d have second-guessed this pick, considering he was a master at out-coaching the Packers. But with Jim Tomsula now in charge, I don’t see the 49ers putting a stop to the red-hot Aaron Rodgers who has already passed for 10 TDs in his first three games, including 5 against the Chiefs in MNF. Be careful, though, on the ATS lines, as the quick turnaround on Green Bay could affect their capacity to stretch the scores.
St. Louis Rams at Arizona Cardinals
NFL SU Pick: Arizona After the Rams scored just 6 points in their loss to Pittsburgh last Sunday, while the Cardinals obliterated the Niners in a 47-point beatdown, there’s simply no way St. Louis will put the clamps on the blazing hot Arizona team that leads the nation in scoring. Be on the lookout for another blowout win from Arizona.
Minnesota Vikings at Denver Broncos
NFL SU Pick: Denver We all love Adrian Peterson, or at least what he does on the field, but when Denver’s mean defense is involved in any bet, you really have to question if the opposing offense has what it takes to survive the menacing hits from the Broncos’ physical defense. Meanwhile, the so-called washed-up Peyton Manning is coming off a 324-yard, 2-TD, 1-interception performance against the Lions, while Minnesota’s defense is allowing 243 YPG, setting up a big chance for the old man to do his thing under the center. Add the rowdy Miles High crowd, and a yet-to-impress inexperienced second-year QB (Teddy Bridgewater) in the mix, you get a game that is Denver’s to lose.
Dallas Cowboys at New Orleans Saints
NFL SU Pick: Dallas The Cowboys are proven road giants, something that is affirmed by their flawless road record that dates from the start of last season (9-0 SU). Backup QB Brandon Weeden also didn’t look that bad, and Joseph Randle and his fellow runners looked really good last week, which should give the Cowboys a variety of weapons to exploit the Saints porous defense that can’t defend anything. So whether or not Drew Brees is back for this game, the Cowboys will most likely claim the win here, possibly with a huge margin. FYI, the Saints are 0-6 SU/ATS in their last six games at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Detroit Lions at Seattle Seahawks
NFL SU Pick: Seattle It’s hard to doubt that the Seahawks are back to where they belong, after they manhandled the Bears for a 26-0 shutout win at the CenturyLink Field. Playing a successive game at the same field, and against a mightily struggling Detroit (which pretty much looks like last week’s Chicago team), is thus likely to elicit more-or-less similar results for Seattle.

Best NFL Picks to Bet Straight Up in Week 4
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers
When: Thursday, September 28, 2017, 8:25 PM ET Where: Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin NFL Odds: Green Bay -7 Total: 45.5
Analysis
I’m going to urge you to back Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers to take down the NFC North division rival Chicago Bears at home in Week 4 despite the fact that Chicago pulled off one of the most impressive wins in Week 3.
The Bears stunned Pittsburgh to pick up a fantastic 23-17 win on Sunday as second-year running back Jordan Howard scored on a 19-yard touchdown run in overtime to lift Chicago to victory. Howard ran for 138 yards and two touchdowns to lead Chicago to its first win of the season.
Still, after seeing Aaron Rodgers completed 28-of-42 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns to lift the Packers to a 27-24 victory over Cincinnati in overtime as Mason Crosby drilled the game-winning 27-yard field goal to cap off the win, I can’t see the Bears getting the outright completed win to upset Green Bay.
The Packers have won two straight against the Bears and beat Chicago 26-10 the last time they hosted their division rivals at Lambeau Field. More importantly, as it stands right now, the Bears just don’t have enough offense to keep pace with Rodgers and the Packers.
Green Bay will load up the box to keep Jordan Howard from running wild while forcing Mike Glennon to beat them through the air, which, he just won’t be able to do.

NFL Picks: Green Bay Wins OutrightNew Orleans Saints at Miami Dolphins
When: Sunday, October 1, 2017, 9:30 AM ET Where: Wembley Stadium, London NFL Odds: New Orleans -2.5 Total: 50
Analysis
The New Orleans Saints pounded the Carolina Panthers 34-13 to get their first win of the season after dropping their first two games of the regular season against Minnesota and New England. Now, New Orleans looks like one of the best NFL Picks to take down the Jay Cutler-led Miami Dolphins after they failed to show up in their pitiful 20-6 loss against the lowly New York Jets on Sunday after narrowly squeaking past San Diego 19-17 in its Week 2 opener.
New Orleans is averaging 24.3 points per game while Miami is putting just 12.5 points per contest on the board after two games. While the Saints are allowing 26.0 points per game defensively to Miami’s 18.5 points per contest allowed, for me, this contest mostly boils down to the fact that the Saints have a future Hall of Fame leader in Drew Brees while Miami has a cry-baby quitter of a starting quarterback in Jay Cutler.
For reference, this past weekend, Brees completed 22 of 29 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns against Carolina while Cutler was wildly inconsistent in going 26 of 44 for 220 yards with one touchdown and one interception against the Jets.
In the end, I simply can’t bring myself to back a Cutler-led team over one that is led by future a future Hall of Fame signal-caller in Drew Brees. New Orleans has won two straight over Miami and four of the last six meetings overall and despite their struggles getting out of the gate this season, the Saints should easily be able to outscore the offensively-inept Dolphins in this one.
Latest NFL Betting Trends for Week 4
NFL Picks: New Orleans Wins Outright
Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Jets
When: Sunday, October 1, 2017, 1:00 PM ET Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey NFL Odds: Jacksonville -3.5 Total: 39.5
Analysis
The Jacksonville Jaguars looked absolutely phenomenal in their stunning 44-7 blowout win over Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3 and are the easy pick to beat the Jets in Week 4, even if New York did stun Miami in their 20-6 Week 3 win against their longtime AFC East division rivals.
Jacksonville got a stellar performance out of enigmatic quarterback Blake Bortles against Baltimore in London this past weekend as the generally mediocre signal-caller completed 20 of 31 passes for 244 yards and four touchdowns. More importantly, the Jaguars played ferocious defense in shutting down the Ravens and harassing veteran quarterback Joe Flacco into two costly interceptions while using their blossoming rushing attack to keep the ball away from Baltimore and win the time of possession battle by almost 10 minutes.
The best reason to back the Jags in Week 4, however, is the fact that the franchise clearly has a credible plan on how to win games moving forward after hiring two-time Super Bowl-winning head coach Tom Coughlin as VP of football operations and his subsequent hiring of head coach Doug Marrone.
