WRC Rally Japan Betting Favorites, Analysis & Prediction

The WRC season is coming to a close this weekend, with the final rally of the season set to take place in Japan. The race actually began in the early hours of Friday morning, but the first round was cut short as drivers struggled with what is a very tricky course. Friday ended with Thierry Neuville and Elfyn Evans in a tie, with Dani Sordo seeing his rally come to an end after crashing and having his vehicle go up in flames. The driver walked away from it all, which is always the best possible news in those situations. It was that crash that led to the early cancellation of the first loop, as well as the test that was scheduled for later in the day. It’s still all to play for, though, so expect a fun weekend. Here are a few drivers we can expect to be in the hunt to win it so you can bet against their WRC Odds.

2022 FORUM8 Rally Japan Analysis and Preview | WRC Betting Picks

Thierry Neuville

Neuville has very much been the nearly man in his time in the WRC, frequently landing in the top 3 in the overall standings. It looks to be more of the same this season, but you can bet that he would love to finish the season on a high in Japan. He does have 1 win on the season, with that one coming in Greece a couple of races ago. As we mentioned earlier this new track in Japan was expected to be tricky, but Neuville has handled it well to this point, so there is reason to believe that he could push on and get the win.

Elfyn Evans

After back-to-back 2nd place finishes in the WRC, Evans has taken a bit of a backward step this season, as he is currently sitting in 4th overall. Still, he is looking to finish the season strong and being tied for the lead in Japan after the opening day of racing means that he is absolutely in the hunt to win this rally. Whether he can push on and get that win remains to be seen, as he is still looking for his first win of the season, He has been in 2nd place 4 times this season, so he should stick around.

Kalle Rovanpera

There is absolutely zero pressure on Rovanpera in the Japan Rally, as he has already clinched the World Championship in convincing fashion. Rovanpera has been nothing short of brilliant this season, winning 6 races already and racking up a ridiculous number of points in the process. There is nothing left to prove, but you can bet that he will want to flaunt his total dominance in the final race of the season.

Ott Tanak

It has been another solid season for Tanak, who last won the World Championship back in 2019, as he currently sits in 2nd in the overall driver standings. He has probably done enough to secure that spot, but picking up a win in Japan would absolutely guarantee it. He has already won 3 races this season and has been no worse than 4th in each of his last 6 races. This is a driver that simply cannot ever be counted out.
