WRC Safari Rally Kenya: One of the things that sets the WRC apart from other motor sports is the sheer variety of locations that the drivers visit over the course of the season. MyBookie MotorSports Odds | 2024 Rally Betting | WRC Rally Kenya
They can go from icy, snow-covered roads to searing desert heat in the space of a couple of weeks, with each rally offering a unique challenge. This weekend, the action shifts to Africa for Rally Kenya, which will serve as the 3rd race of the year. We have had 2 different winners through the opening 2 races of the new season, so you have to wonder if that trend will hold or if we will have our first repeat winner of 2024. The standings as they look now may well change in the coming weeks and months, but let’s take a look at the current top 4 drivers, skipping Sebastien Ogier, who is racing part-time again this season.

Thierry Neuville
It’s tight at the top of the driver standings after the opening 2 races, with Neuville sitting on top with 48 points, just 3 points ahead of his closest competitor. Neuville got his season off to the best start possible, picking up the win in Monte Carlo. He then followed that up with a respectable 4th place finish in Sweden, but you have to wonder if he will be able to retain his top spot after this weekend, as Kenya has not been kind to him over the past few years. In his last 3 runs there, here failed to finish once, was disqualified, and ran 5th in the other. Not exactly stats that inspire you to wager on Neuville.

Elfyn Evans
Evan has been the nearly man in the WRC over the past few years, finishing in the top 5 overall, including a trio of 2nd place finishes, in the last 5 seasons. You do get the feeling that he is overdue a world championship, but will this be the year where he takes that big step? Evans has certainly started well enough, landing on the podium in both races to this point. If he can maintain this early pace and match or better his 3 wins from last season, he will be in the conversation. He has finished on the podium in back-to-back years in Kenya.

Adrien Fourmaux
If truth be told, Fourmaux has not really made much of an impact in his time with the WRC, cracking the top 10 just once in 5 seasons at this level. This makes you wonder if we are witnessing the start of a breakout season or just a fast start that he might not be able to maintain. He started out with a 5th place run in Monte Carlo before landing on the podium in Sweden. He skipped the Kenya Rally last season, but he does have a 5th place finish there in his WRC career. Might be the best we can hope for this weekend.

Ott Tanak
When you are a former champion, expectations are always high, but it has now been 5 years since Tanak won his lone WRC title. He has not been outside of the top 5 overall during that stretch, so it’s not as though he has fallen that far off the pace over the last few seasons. He made a decent enough start in Monte Carlo with a 4th place run, but he followed that up with a very poor showing in Sweden. He has had a podium finish in Kenya in recent years, so Tanak is worth keeping an eye on.

2023 WRC Rally Kenya Odds
One of the great things about the points system used in races in motor sports is that things can change quickly. A single win can vault a driver into the championship mix, but maintaining that run is where things can become difficult. This is especially true in the WRC, where the courses are so demanding, and a single mistake can change the outcome of any given rally. We saw things tighten up at the top a little after the previous race, which we will get into in a moment, but what impact will that have on the drivers as they head to Kenya this weekend for the next race on the schedule? Only time will tell, so all we can do now is look at the WRC Rally betting analysis at the current top 4 to see how things might play out in this race.

Kalle Rovanpera
Rovanpera had a season for the ages in 2022, winning 6 races on his way to a WRC World Championship. It was always going to be a tough act to follow, but he is doing a pretty good job of it, as he is currently sitting on top of the driver standings with 118 points through the opening 6 races of the season. By this stage last season, Rovanpera already had 4 wins, but he has just the lone win this year. He has not been worse than 4th in any race this year, and while he lost some ground at the top last time out, he still maintains a 25-point lead. Rovanpera won this rally last season.
Thierry Neuville
Prior to the last race in Italy, Neuville found himself sitting outside the top 4 and heading in the wrong direction. He changed that around with a win in the Italian Rally, a victory that vaulted him all the way up to 2nd place overall. This is a driver who has been knocking on the door of a championship for years, as he has never finished worse than 4th overall during the last 7 years. He seems overdue for a win, but will that victory last time out help propel his season forward? Neuville finished 5th last time out in Kenya.
Ott Tanak
This really does need to be a bounce back race for Tanka after a pretty poor showing in Italy last time out. He finished 35th overall in that one and only managed to pick up 4 points in the championship race. That now leaves him on 85 points, which means that he is 33 points back of Rovanpera at the top of the standings. That had to be a disappointing run for a driver that has a win this season and has not been outside of the top 10 in any race until that one. He was forced to retire in Kenya last year, but he had a 3rd place finish the year before that.
Elfyn Evans
Evans is another driver who lost some serious ground after failing to finish in Portugal and then following that up with a 4th place run in Italy. That has to be more than a little frustrating after he got off to a solid start this season, winning in Croatia and landing in the top 5 in the 3 races prior to that victory. Evans need a bounce back effort this weekend, and given that he was 2nd in Kenya last season, he could be in the hunt.
