2022-23 NFL Regular Season
- When: Sep. 8, 2022 – Jan. 8, 2023
Deshaun Watson used Texans’ NDAs and facilities
A bombshell recently released report states that Deshaun Watson used NDAs that Houston provided for the massages that has led to 24 lawsuits against the former Texan. Not only that, but many of the massages happened in Houston Texans‘ facilities.
None of the news is good, which is why less than 48 hours after the bombshell reports, Deshaun was back at Cleveland mini-camp throwing picks.
No matter what you believe about Watson’s abilities, or if you believe any of the lawsuits are with merit, this type of thing will not help Deshaun play well once the season starts.
If you’re a fantasy football guy, think twice before drafting Deshaun Watson.
Aaron Donald becomes the highest-paid non-QB in history
Last week, the Los Angeles Rams made Aaron Donald the highest-paid non-quarterback in history. Donald signed a 3-year-deal for $95 million. The deal is not only gargantuan in scope, but it has something that few deals nowadays have, a no-trade clause.
Not that Aaron is complaining. A motivated Aaron Donald is the key to the Rams’ Super Bowl repeat hopes. Expect Donald, should he stay healthy, to have one of his best seasons.
Aaron could be so effective that he might end up a favorite in the second half of the season to win the NFL MVP.
DK Metcalf could be holding out for a new contract
Metcalf hasn’t showed up at Seattle’s mini-camp. Maybe, he’s holding out for a new contract. In fact, both parties, Metcalf’s reps and the Seahawks, claim he is.
No matter why, Metcalf is missing OTAs without Seattle’s blessing, which means he could end up paying a lot of dollars the longer he sits out.
The fines may total $93,000. Fining your best offensive player $93,000 may not be the best way to start negotiations. But, hey, Seattle is obviously in rebuild mode after trading Russell Wilson.
So, who knows? Maybe, this is their way of saying, “You’re on the trading block, buddy.”
Jimmy G. leaves San Francisco mini-camp
San Francisco gave Jimmy G. their blessing to leave mini-camp. Before we start talking about he 49ers trading Jimmy, we should consider all angles.
Yes, working on a trade to give Jimmy a new home is the most obvious reason to tell him he can leave mini-camp. But that’s not the only reason.
Another reason is because San Francisco has no faith in Trey Lance. Garoppolo is injury-prone and SF doesn’t believe Lance is ready.
If that’s the case, then you’d send your starter home during mini-camp as well, right? Rest him for real training camp and for the start of the season?
Colin Kaepernick works out with Raiders
Colin Kaepernick had a great workout with the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders have yet to sign Kap. One of the reasons could be money. No doubt, Colin is asking for more than LV is ready to pay.
No matter the reason, it’s not because Kaepernick is going to start ahead of Derek Carr. The Raiders’ quarterback played college ball with Las Vegas’ new wide receiver Davante Adams.
Carr has never gotten to play with a WR on Davante’s level. So since we discussed fantasy football in the first section, why don’t we end with FF?
Reconsider drafting Deshaun Watson but for sure pull the trigger on Davante Adams and Derek Carr. If you could put together Adams and Carr this season, you should be pulling the cash register almost every week.
I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?
