The penultimate tournament of the FedExCup Fall Series is here as players head to the island of Bermuda for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. This is year five of the young tournament and will be played at the Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton Parish, Bermuda. The four-day tournament begins on Thursday, November 9th with a champion being crowned on Sunday, November 12th.
Three of the past four champions are in the field this week, with last year’s winner, Seamus Power, as the only past winner not teeing it up. Power battled on the final day, holding off a charge by Thomas Detry to win by one shot. The Irishman ended the tournament with a four-day score of 265 (19-under) for his second PGA Tour win.
Following the conclusion of next week’s RSM Classic, players ranked 125th or better in the FedExCup standings will earn full playing privileges for next year. Those players ranked outside of that number, 126-150, will earn conditional status for next season. Any player sitting beyond 150 will have to regain their status through Q-School or the Korn Ferry Tour.

2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship | 16th edition of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship – Fifth PGA Tour Fall series
Thursday, November 9th – Sunday, November 12th, 2023
Port Royal Golf Course, Southampton Parish, Bermuda
2022 Winner: Séamus Power
Port Royal Golf Course
The Robert Trent Jones design is the longest course in Bermuda but one of the shortest tracks on the PGA Tour schedule. The par-71 layout plays at just over 6,800 yards, the second-shortest course on the Tour schedule.
The course opened for play in 1972 after years of rerouting due to land agreements. This little slice of paradise offers low scoring if the conditions are right. The past four winners of the tournament have averaged 18.25 under par.
Like many seaside tracks, the course’s biggest defense is Mother Nature. If the winds are up, the short course becomes increasingly difficult to score on and puts an emphasis on player’s short games.
Butterfield Bermuda Championship | The Field
Former Masters champion Adam Scott headlines the field this week as the 43-year old pro makes his tournament debut in Bermuda. Scott looks to improve on his 72nd position in the FedExCup standings with a high finish. The veteran has posted a solid season, with four top 10 finishes in just 18 events.
Brendon Todd, the inaugural tournament champion, along with 2020 winner Brian Gay and 2021 champion Lucas Herbert return to the island looking to become second-time winners. Todd finished 47th in the standings, so the three-time PGA Tour winner is exempt for next season but has the chance to jump inside the top 50 in the world with a solid week.
Lucas Glover, a two-time winner already this year, will continue his superb season this week. Glover has seen his career rebound over the past three years, picking up three victories during that span.
Butterfield Bermuda Championship | Who’s the Favorites?
Scott (+1425) will enter Thursday’s first round as the betting favorite, with Todd (+1635) right behind him. Detry, last year’s runner-up, and Akshay Bhatia are there at +1900. Bhatia broke through with his first PGA Tour win earlier this year at the Barracuda Championship.
Rounding out the betting favorites are Alex Noren (+1975), past champion Herbert (+2000), and four players at +2100. Those players include Glover, Alex Smalley, Taylor Pendrith, and Ben Griffin.
