The year’s final NFL preseason week should clarify some things, including whether Jimmy Garoppolo remains a San Francisco 49er and who Pete Carroll believes should start in a Seahawks uniform. Check out the latest in our NFL Betting rumors, trades, and free agents blog.

Pete Carroll has no idea who his starting quarterback is
Heading into the final preseason week, heck, heading into the start of the season, Seattle coach Pete Carroll doesn’t know who will start under center.
Things are so up in the air that Carroll has said the Seahawks may play with a couple of starting quarterbacks this season. Those quarterback will be Geno Smith, who has become one of the most reliable backups in the league, and Drew Lock.
Both are solid backups. Neither is a starting QB, which means the Seahawks might mail in 2022. Don’t expect Seattle to do much this season.
New York Giants believe Daboll is already a “home run hire”
New York Giants fans are buzzing about their head football coach. Brian Daboll has impressed not only the fans, but he’s also impressed the media and his bosses.
Daboll is such a creative play caller that many feel he turns Giants quarterback Daniel Jones into Josh Allen-lite.
Brian builds his offense around the quarterback. So expect Jones to flourish. Jones 2.0 will run with the football and throw for touchdowns and yardage.
The defense has the makings of a top unit. The Giants are a serious wildcard contender.
Jessie Bates III heads to Bengals’ camp
Cincinnati’s defense is at full strength. Bengal’s safety Jessie Bates III has ended his holdout. It hasn’t come too soon because Jessie must get on the same page as his teammates.
Bates III is one of the best safeties in the league. Don’t worry about bad feelings. The Bengals made it to the Super Bowl last season. Joe Burrow has great leadership skills.
So he will make sure that everyone is copasetic. With Bates III back, Cincinnati becomes a legit favorite to win Super Bowl 57.
Shanahan says any scenario with Jimmy G. “is possible”
Team owner Jed York said he’s happy to pay Jimmy G. $24.2 million this year to sit on the bench, which explains why head coach Kyle Shanahan said any scenario with Garoppolo is possible.
Since the start of this offseason, the 49ers have wanted to trade Jimmy. Unfortunately, an injury and his exorbitant salary has led to potential trade partners shunning a deal for the quarterback.
Carolina, as an example, decided to make a play for Baker Mayfield because most of Baker’s salary is in incentives. Seattle, the most obvious trade partner, doesn’t appear to care so much about winning games this season.
Teams like Atlanta, New Orleans, and Pittsburgh are set at quarterback. The 49ers may have to either make Garoppolo the highest paid backup in the league or they may have to cut him.
Vegas gunslinger Carr attracting betting dollars to lead the NFL in passing yards
One name has emerged as the quarterback to beat to throw the most passing yards this season. It’s not Patrick Mahomes, or Aaron Rodgers, or Justin Herbert. The name is Derek Carr.
The Las Vegas Raiders quarterback has attracted the most attention in Vegas sportsbooks to lead the NFL in passing yards. The key for Carr to accomplish the feat isn’t throwing it to Davante Adams every time.
It’s whether the Raiders offensive line gells. In 2021, the unit allowed 40 sacks. Carr knows the only way for Vegas to succeed on offensive is for the line to get it together.
I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?
