At 14-3, the Philadelphia Eagles have earned the #1 seed in the NFC Playoffs. They have a first-round bye, along with home-field advantage throughout the conference playoffs. Jalen Hurts, who many thought couldn’t be a starting quarterback in the NFL, is one of the leading candidates to win the league’s MVP award. Hurts has played great football this season. The Eagles went out in the offseason and got Hurts some help, as they acquired wide receiver AJ Brown from the Tennessee Titans. Brown and Devonta Smith make up one of the best-receiving duos in the league.
As the Eagles head into the postseason not knowing who they’ll face in the second round, they’ll be well-rested for the opponent. We will now take a look at some of the NFL Playoffs Betting numbers and whether or not the Philadelphia Eagles are worth wagering some of your hard-earned money on.
Will the Philadelphia Eagles Fly Through the Postseason?
Why People Are Worried about the Eagles
Even as the top seed in the NFC, many still don’t trust the Eagles. Lots of people still don’t have faith in Jalen Hurts. Hurts missed two out of the last three games with an injury. He returned in the final week of the regular season. Another injury to be worried about is the one to offensive lineman Lane Johnson. Since Johnson has been out, the Eagles offense just hasn’t looked the same.
The Philadelphia defense has been good, but they are susceptible to the run. If teams can grind out the clock and keep the Eagles offense off of the field, they’ll be in trouble. If the Eagles can get a lead, they do have one of the best secondaries in the league, so teams will have a hard time gaining big chunks of yardage against them.
Betting Numbers and Should We Bet on the Eagles?
The Philadelphia Eagles have the best odds to win the NFC. The oddsmakers have made them a +175 to win their conference. In looking at the odds to win the Super Bowl, the Eagles are tied with the San Francisco 49ers for the third-best odds behind the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs. They are a +500 to win the Lombardi Trophy.
While the Eagles started off the season looking like the best team in the league, they didn’t finish the season so well. Injuries have taken a toll, and their offense just hasn’t looked near as good without Johnson. We’re not sure if Johnson will play or not, and that makes a huge difference.
Right now, we’re just not sold on the Philadelphia Eagles. Their defense gave up a lot of points at the end of the season, and we don’t know if Hurts has what it takes to make big comebacks. We just don’t think that the Eagles are better than the 49ers, and even if they get to the NFC Title game, we still like the Niners to win the conference. Hold onto your money if you plan on betting on the Eagles. You’ll find better things to wager on.
