Half of the NBA Finals has now been set, with the Boston Celtics punching their ticket into the championship series.
They will now sit back and wait for the winner of the Western Conference Finals, which was extended to at least 5 games after Minnesota avoided elimination with a win in Game 4.
My Analysis of the Odds to Win Next Season
With the Dallas Mavericks still up 3-1 in the series, we might see that one end sooner rather than later. We could sit and have a conversation about who we think will win it all this year, but I think we have done that enough already. With that in mind, the next question to ask is who will win it all next season. The odds for that won’t come out until after a champ has been crowned this season, but we are looking at a website called Manifold to see who the general public has their eye on for next season, so let’s look at the stats from there.
It is probably no real surprise to learn that the public are currently looking at the Boston Celtics as the team most likely to win in the 2024-25 season. As of now, 31% of the betting public have the Celtics winning it all next season. This is a team that came into the season as the favorites to win the championship and they have not stepped off the gas at all from day one. They won the Eastern Conference in a canter and have hardly broken a sweat on their way to the Finals, dropping just 3 games in the playoffs. Expect them to be strong again next year.
Next up is the Denver Nuggets, who have 18% of the votes from the betting public. They came into this season as the defending champions, but could not get past Round 2, losing in a 7-game thriller to the Minnesota Timberwolves. I certainly don’t think the Nuggets are going to fall off that dramatically, and they may in fact try to bolster their squad in the offseason.
This is where things start to get a little interesting in terms of who the betting public likes for next season’s NBA Championship. There is only one other team in the double digits, which is the Minnesota Timberwolves, who picked up 10% of the votes. It will be interesting to see if that number rises or falls depending on how the Western Conference Finals play out. Interestingly enough, the Dallas Mavericks have just 5% of the vote despite being on the brink of an NBA Finals appearance. The New York Knicks are ahead of them at 6%, while we also have the Milwaukee Bucks and LA Clippers in at 5%.
Now that we have a general idea of how the betting public is leaning for the 2024-25 NBA season, it is going to be fun to see the odds when they are released by the bookies. Will those odds match up with what we are seeing here, or will they have some different teams in among the favorites. Only time will tell, but we will do our utmost to keep you updated on all the latest NBA odds.
