After a grueling regular season for all 32 teams, we have come down to the final four teams. In the AFC, we have the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Cincinnati Bengals, and in the NFC, the Philadelphia Eagles will welcome the San Francisco 49ers to town. In looking at these four teams, we have the potential for some great Super Bowl matchups. Let’s take a look at some of the possibilities we could see in Glendale in a few days for your bets.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles
This would be an intriguing matchup. You have the pass-happy attack of the Kansas City Chiefs against the steller secondary of the Philadelphia Eagles. This one would also have some other great storylines. One of the biggest storylines would be Andy Reid facing his old team. Reid was fired in Philadelphia for not being able to win the big game. Now that he’s a Super Bowl champion, it would be fitting for him to beat his old employer. The storylines would be great, and the product on the field would be even better.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Cincinnati Bengals
These two have met in a Super Bowl before, but many wouldn’t remember the game. It was Super Bowl XXIII, pitting Joe Montana against Boomer Esiason. John Taylor was the star of the game for the Niners, as they defeated the Bengals 20-16. If these two were to meet, we could see another classic. The Niners have one of the top defenses in the NFL, and they have a very good defensive line. One of the main weaknesses of the Bengals is their offensive line. We would get to see how the Bengals planned on countering the strong defensive line play of the Niners.
Joe Burrow has quickly become one of the top quarterbacks in the game, and he has a penchant for playing well in pressure situations. We would be able to see how he would handle the tremendous defense of San Francisco. We would also get to see if rookie quarterback Brock Purdy would be able to handle all of the pressure surrounding a Super Bowl appearance.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Once again, we would love to see the Niners great defense take on one of, if not the best offense in the NFL in the Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes has been able to take on some of the best defenses and win, so this would be a great opportunity for him to prove just how good he truly is. Andy Reid is one of the top offensive minds in the game, and he would love to show how good he is against such a strong defense.
Kyle Shanahan has struggled in big games, so he would love nothing more than to get the monkey off of his back. Shanahan was the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons when they blew a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl and lost. Shanahan’s Niners also blew a lead against these same Chiefs in the Super Bowl just a couple of years ago, so he’d love to get revenge against Kansas City.
