Just because the NFL Draft is in the books and most free agents have signed with their new teams, it doesn’t mean there are no longer any pro football rumors regarding trades and remaining free agents. See below for the latest NFL trade and free agent rumors so you can keep planning your bets against the NFL Odds.

Saints sign two free agents that make them NFC contenders
New Orleans signed two free agents last week that make them contenders to win the NFC. The first is former Kansas City safety Tyrann Mathieu. The honey badger grew up in New Orleans and played for LSU.
So it makes sense that he’d sign with the Saints. Mathieu signed a three-year-deal, which means he’s likely to finish his career making hits for New Orleans.
The other player the Saints signed is wide receiver Jarvis Landry. Jarvis will play slot while Michael Thomas is on one side and Chris Olave is on the other.
In the matter of two weeks, the Saints went from having zero top receivers to possibly one of the best receiving corps in the NFL. Add in a top defense and New Orleans is one of the teams to beat to win the conference.
Carolina Panthers continue to have interest in Jimmy G. and Baker Mayfield
The Panthers drafted rookie quarterback Matt Corral, but just because Corral and Sam Darnold are on the roster, it doesn’t mean Carolina has given up on acquiring either Jimmy Garoppolo or Baker Mayfield.
Rumor has it, Carolina is interested in acquiring one of the two remaining quarterbacks on the trade market. The Panthers would go with either one, but the deal must be right before Carolina pulls the trigger.
Cleveland, Mayfield’s current employer, and San Francisco, the team that signs Garoppolo’s paychecks, have asked too much in the past. If the Browns and 49ers continue to ask the world, the Panthers will roll the dice with Darnold and Corral.
3 teams possible destinations for Julio Jones
Supposedly, three teams are interested in Julio Jones. The former Atlanta Falcon and current Tennessee Titan is 33-years-old, which is one of the reasons no team has yet to pick up the phone and give Jones’ agent a call.
In any case, the three teams appear to be the Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys, or Indianapolis Colts. Among the three teams, the Colts make the most sense.
Indianapolis traded for veteran Matt Ryan to play quarterback. The Colts are a win now team, which means adding Jones will only help. Ryan and Jones have chemistry, of course, since both played in Atlanta.
Green Bay seems like a longshot. Dallas is also a longshot. Don’t be surprised if Atlanta makes the call. Falcons’ owner Arthur Blank loves Julio, Jones has strong ties to the ATL, and the Falcons’ top receiver is rookie Drake London.
Browns excited about Deshaun under center, but . . .
Cleveland is excited about Deshaun Watson under center, but whispers are building. For one, Watson has yet to get rid of the 22 lawsuits against him for inappropriate behavior.
We can’t get into the details. There’s too much to discuss. But let’s just say Watson’s legal troubles are far from over.
It takes a special player to perform their best while lawsuits hang over their head. Watson might be special. But is he special enough? The civil lawsuits won’t go away for at least another year.
So all of 2022 and into 2023 Deshaun will play with this hanging over his head. Rumors are some in Cleveland’s organization aren’t happy about it, which may explain why Baker Mayfield remains a Brown.
After an excellent draft, the Philadelphia Eagles are an NFC darling to win the conference
The odds on the Eagles to win the NFC have nothing to do with trade rumors or free agents. But we thought it was interesting that the moment the NFL schedule released, Philly’s odds across the board dived.
At +2800 to win the Super Bowl, Philly offers lower odds than the Titans, Saints, and Patriots. The Eagles are +1300 to win the NFC and +236, second choice, to beat the Dallas Cowboys and win the NFC East.
Why is Philadelphia suddenly a lukewarm chalk? The Eagles had a fantastic draft. Not only that, but like Dallas, Washington, and the New York Giants, Philadelphia, at least on paper, has one of the easiest schedules in the league.
It’s up to you if you believe the odds on the Eagles are fair. The key is Jalen Hurts. If the Hurts improves, Philadelphia might be an overlay at the current odds. But if Hurts doesn’t, Philly will burn money for sure.
The top free agents have found new teams and the draft is in the books, which is why it’s time to start planning for the NFL Season. Parity reigns in the NFL, which is why underdogs exist in almost every future betting category. Keep reading for four long shot teams that have a real chance at winning their division so you can bet against their NFC Divisional odds and their AFC Divisional odds respectively.
Four Long Shot NFL Bets to Win their Division this Season
2022-2023 NFL Regular Season
- When: Sep. 8, 2022 – Jan. 8, 2023
NFC East – Washington Commanders +480
The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are the two favorites to win the NFC East. But although Dallas and Philly should be tough to beat, Washington offers overlay odds.
Ron Rivera’s defense will be much better this season than last season. The offense should be a very good unit now that Carson Wentz is under center. The Commanders are under the radar, which makes them a solid long shot pick.
As you may have guessed, D.C.’s success depends on how well Wentz performs. Carson has a seriously talented target in wide receiver Terry McLaurin. So if things go well, Washington can upset Dallas and Philadelphia.
NFC South – New Orleans Saints +400
No doubt, the odds on the Saints to win the NFC South will fall. So if you agree with the following assessment, jump on the Saints as soon as possible.
New Orleans made two key free agent signings in the past couple of weeks. Dennis Allen’s squad signed Tyrann Mathieu to play safety. New Orleans also signed Jarvis Landry to play wide receiver.
In addition, New Orleans drafted receiver Chris Olave and left tackle Trevor Penning in the first round. Yes, Tom Brady is back with the favorite, Tampa Bay. But overall, New Orleans appears to have the better team.
The key for the Saints will be how well Jameis Winston clicks with his receivers. If Winston doesn’t throw picks, the Saints will thrive.
AFC West – Las Vegas Raiders +800
Kansas City, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Denver Broncos are loaded. No doubt, those three teams should be favored to win the AFC West.
But we shouldn’t look past a team that made it to the playoffs last season and signed the best wide receiver in the NFL, Davante Adams, during the offseason. Las Vegas is a seriously talented team.
The Raiders can hang with any squad in the AFC West. So at the odds, they’re a fantastic play to win the division. The defense is underrated and quarterback Derek Carr and Adams played together at Fresno State.
