In Week 11 of the 2015 season, the Bucs rolled to a 45-17 win in Philadelphia. Jameis Winston tied a rookie record with five touchdown passes, Doug Martin ran for 235 yards. Winston is currently suspended three games and Martin is in Oakland. Winston completed 19 of 29 passes for 246 yards and had four of his TD passes in the first half to four different receivers. He tied the rookie mark in the third quarter on an 8-yard toss to Cameron Brate, the fifth receiver to catch a TD. The Bucs set a franchise record with 283 yards rushing, and their 521 total yards were second-most in franchise history in the regular season (573 in 1980). That Eagles team wasn’t close to as good as this one.

Why Bet on Philadelphia?

The Eagles opened last Thursday with an 18-12 home win over Atlanta. With Wentz out as he recovers from his torn ACL, Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles completed 19-of-34 passes for 117 yards, zero touchdowns, and an interception. Foles fumbled, but the Eagles recovered. He also caught a 15-yard pass in a sequel to the Super Bowl’s “Philly Special.” Beyond that, Foles wasn’t good. He’s fully expected to start again as Wentz could need a handful more weeks to get ready. Jay Ajayi rushed 15 times for 62 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ Week 1 win over the Falcons. Ajayi wasn’t targeted in the passing game. coach Doug Pederson said Ajayi will be used more moving forward: “Jay was nursing a little bit of a lower-body injury for a couple weeks and I just wanted to make sure he was good and get him into the flow of the game. Moving forward, we’ll see him more.” The 25-year-old has extra incentive to reclaim the role of a primary back. Ajayi is set to become a free agent at the end of the season. Nelson Agholor caught 8-of-10 targets for 33 yards. Zach Ertz caught 5-of-10 targets for 48 yards and had a few drops. Top WR Alshon Jeffery was out following offseason shoulder surgery and he won’t play here. The team has activated starting linebacker Nigel Bradham from the reserve/suspended list. Bradham’s one game suspension is over. He’ll resume an every-down role for Week 2 against Tampa. Without Bradham, the Philly defense came up with a pair of goal-line stands Thursday, both to open and close the game, and held the Falcons’ high-powered offense to just one touchdown on five red-zone trips. The Falcons were 4-of-15 on third down (26.7 percent).

Why Bet on Tampa Bay?

The Bucs were the biggest Week 1 dogs at +9.5 but stunned the Saints 48-40 in New Orleans on Sunday. The 88 combined points by Tampa Bay (48) and New Orleans (40) are the most points scored in a single game on Kickoff Weekend in NFL history. The previous record was held by the Eagles (45) and Washington Redskins (42) who combined for 87 points on September 28, 1947. With Jameis Winston suspended the first three games, Ryan Fitzpatrick passed for 417 yards with four touchdowns and zero interceptions and rushed for a touchdown. Fitzpatrick joined Washington’s Mark Rypien (November 10, 1991, against Atlanta) as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to pass for at least 400 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions and rush for a touchdown in a single game. DeSean Jackson had 146 receiving yards and two touchdowns, including a 58-yard touchdown catch, in the win. Jackson has 27 career touchdowns of at least 50 yards, tied with Pro Football Hall of Famers Lance Alworth and Terrell Owens for the third-most in NFL history. Only Hall of Famers Jerry Rice (36) and Randy Moss (29) have more in league annals. Expect big numbers from DeSean Jackson in Eagles vs Buccaneers. Mike Evans tallied seven catches for 147 yards and a touchdown on seven targets. Evans left the field with an injury early in the second half but showed no ill effects upon his return. The 147 yards were Evans’ most in a game since Week 9 of 2016 against Atlanta. He’s now just one receiving touchdown away from tying Jimmie Giles’ team record of 34. Peyton Barber logged 69 yards on 19 carries. He wasn’t targeted in the passing game. Barber impressed in the first half, tallying 50 yards on eight carries before the break. His longest run of the afternoon came on a 23-yard burst with just over four minutes remaining in the first quarter. Barber out-touched backup Jacquizz Rodgers by a commanding 19-3 margin in the victory while further establishing himself as the Bucs’ clear lead back.
