Jacksonville Jaguars Odds and Betting Analysis for the 2023 Playoffs

Could the Jacksonville Jaguars be the feel-good story of the playoffs? After last season’s disaster under the guidance of short-lived head coach Urban Meyer, Jacksonville started the season with a clean slate. Gone were the days of Meyer and his unprepared coaching staff. Super Bowl-winning, and renowned “quarterback whisperer” Doug Pederson was brought in to turn things around for the Jaguars.

After the Khan family spent millions of dollars in the free agency market, many felt that Jacksonville would be better this season. After starting the season off at 2-7, many began to write Jacksonville off. Well, after finishing the season off 7-1, including five straight wins heading into the playoffs, the Jaguars are back in the postseason. It took a “winner take all” game in Week 18 against the Tennessee Titans to get them there, but they made it, and now anything can happen.

We’ll now take a look at some of the betting numbers for the Jaguars heading into the postseason, and we’ll tell you whether or not the Jacksonville squad is worth a wager or not. Let’s get right to it so you can bet against their NFL Playoffs Odds.

Can the Jaguars Run Continue and Make it Far Into Postseason? | NFL Playoffs Betting Analysis

Betting Numbers

By winning the AFC South, the Jaguars were awarded a home game in the opening round of the AFC Playoffs. They’ll host the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers have been made a 1.5-point favorite against the Jaguars. If Trevor Lawrence, who has made leaps and bounds under Pederson’s tutelage in his second season, can play well, Jacksonville has a chance. If he struggles, it could be a one-and-done scenario for the Jaguars.

In looking at their odds to win the AFC, they have the worst odds of any AFC playoff team at a +2500. If you think that Jacksonville has a shot at winning the conference, this would be a great value bet. As for winning the Super Bowl, the Jaguars are a +4800. If they were to get out of the loaded AFC, the Jaguars would be a sexy pick to win this year’s Super Bowl.

Are the Jaguars Worth a Wager?

As we stated, the Jags have won five straight games heading into the playoffs. Lawrence is playing well, Travis Etienne Jr. has been good out of the backfield, and the defense is coming up with some big stops when they need to. In their matchup with the Chargers, who have also been playing very good football. The Jags will need to stop Austin Ekeler, who is one of, if not the best dual-threat running back in the game. Justin Herbert will also be looking to make a bigger name for himself, and if he can frequently connect with Keenan Allen and potentially Mike Williams, the Chargers will be hard to beat.

So if the Jaguars do beat the Chargers, do we think that they’re a legitimate threat to win the AFC and go to the Super Bowl? No, we don’t. They’ve gone on a nice, little run to end the season, and they’re a franchise that could be dangerous for years to come, but they’re not ready yet. They don’t have what it takes to beat the likes of Buffalo, Kansas City, or Cincinnati. If you’re thinking of wagering some money on the Jaguars, do yourself a favor and save it.
