Two AFC South Division teams will clash at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday, as the Indianapolis Colts will host the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacksonville is coming off of a huge upset win over one of the best teams in the AFC, the Buffalo Bills. The Colts have enjoyed a 10-day layoff after beating the New York Jets last Thursday night. We’ll see if the Colts can keep up with the division-leading Tennessee Titans, or if the Jaguars can win their second game in a row. With that being said, it’s time we take a closer look at both teams and how they arrive to this Jaguars vs Colts matchup so you can bet against their NFL odds.
NFL Betting Preview for Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis
Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Analysis
Things keep getting better for the Jaguars. Coming off of a huge win over Buffalo, the Jaguars got some good news this week. Running back James Robinson, who missed last week’s game with a foot injury, should be ready to play on Sunday. Left Tackle Cam Robinson also missed the game with Buffalo, and he should be ready for Sunday as well. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence missed a few snaps last week with an ankle injury, but all signs point to him being ready to play this week.
Lawrence has made his fair share of rookie mistakes, but as the season goes on, he looks like he’s getting more and more acclimated to the NFL game. Lawrence has lost numerous weapons due to injury this season, yet he has still continued to make progress. We’ll see if he has what it takes to lead the Jaguars to their second straight victory.
Indianapolis Colts Betting Analysis
The Colts lost four of their first five games, but have rebounded well, winning three of their last four, including a win over the New York Jets last Thursday. Carson Wentz played his best game of the season against the Jets, as he threw for 272 yards with three touchdown passes. Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines also had big games coming out of the backfield for the Colts.
Speaking of Taylor, he has already surpassed the 1000 yard mark in total offense. He has rushed for 821 yards with eight touchdowns while catching 293 yards worth of passes with one receiving touchdown. Taylor started the season off slow but has come one as of late. He is one of the main reasons that the Colts have been playing better.
The Colts defense hasn’t played well this season. Injuries have been an issue, plus they haven’t been able to get to the opposing team’s quarterback. If they can get their defense fixed up, they have a shot at making the playoffs.
Prediction
Las Vegas has spoken, and the oddsmakers have made the Colts a 10.5-point favorite to beat the Jaguars. The Colts have been playing better lately, and in our opinion, they are the better football team.
In looking at the numbers against the spread, things look good for the Colts. The Colts are 4-0 against teams with losing records. They are also 5-1 against the spread in their last six games. The Jaguars are 4-8 against the spread in their last 12 games.
While 10.5 is a hefty spread, we think the Colts will beat the Jags and cover the spread in the process. The Colts win this one 27-14.
