For the first time this season, the NFL is taking its show across the pond for one of its multiple London games. The host team for this contest will be the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons will be joined on their European excursion by the New York Jets. The like-new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be converted into an American Football Stadium for this one.
Both teams come into this one with a 1-3 record. The New York Jets earned their first win of the season last Sunday, as they overcame a late deficit to defeat the Tennessee Titans in overtime. The Falcons fought hard against the Washington Commanders, but came up short in the end, losing a tight one, 34-30. With all that said, it’s time we take a look at both the Jets and the Falcons so you can get ready to bet against their NFL odds.
NFL Betting Preview for Jets vs Falcons
New York Jets
Robert Saleh knew that he would have a lot of work to do in order to get the New York Jets back into the playoffs. It all started with the trade of Sam Darnold to the Panthers, followed by the drafting of quarterback Zach Wilson with the second overall selection in last year’s draft.
Wilson has had his ups and downs this season. Wilson has passed for 925 yards this season with four touchdowns. Unfortunately, he has struggled with turnovers, throwing eight interceptions thus far. Wilson played well against Tennessee. He threw for 297 yards in their win.
Wilson has a nice crew of wide receivers, led by Corey Davis and Jamison Crowder. The Jets have yet to find much of a running game, but when they do, it will be a huge help ro Wilson.
Atlanta Falcons
Matt Ryan is aging, a wide receiver is their best rusher, and things just aren’t going right for the Falcons. After trading Julio Jones in the offseason, many felt that Calvin Ridley would step up and be one of the league’s top receivers. Unfortunately for Atlanta, that has yet to happen. Cordarrelle Patterson has played well for Atlanta in both the passing game and the running game. Rookie tight end Kyle Pitts has also been a disappointment for Atlanta.
Defensively, it has been a struggle for the Falcons. The opposition’s top receiver has had a lot of success against Atlanta’s suspect secondary this season. If they don’t find ways to slow the other team down, it’ll be a very long season for the Falcons.
Prediction
The Falcons are the home team in this one and are favored by three points. Neither team has much going for them at this point in time. Both teams are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games. However, Atlanta has covered in eight of its last 11 when they’re playing a team with a losing record.
Neither of these teams are good, and neither has a shot at making the playoffs. We’re really not sold on either one of these two, but since we have to make a pick, we’re going with the upset here. The New York Jets get the upset win over the Atlanta Falcons. We can’t wait to see Queen Elizabeth do the J-E-T-S….Jets-Jets-Jets cheer!
