Series History
This will be the seventh meeting between the two clubs since the Ravens‘ inaugural season in 1997. The series is even at three games apiece. They last played in 2019 in Seattle and Baltimore prevailed 30-16 to snap a three-game skid in the series.
Why Bet on Seattle?
Seattle comes off a 24-20 home comeback win over Cleveland. Geno Smith completed 23 of 37 passes for 254 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Smith had both good and bad moments in the game, as he cost the Seahawks a chance at points late in the first half with a pick deep in Cleveland territory.
That carried over into the second half, as he threw another interception and managed only 80 total yards, but Smith completed four of five passes for 52 yards on the team’s game-winning drive, which Smith capped with a nine-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Overall, Smith has topped 250 yards four times in seven games, while he’s thrown for multiple touchdowns on three occasions.
Since Smith became the Seahawks’ starting quarterback last season, he leads the NFL with a 69.1 completion percentage (551 completions in 797 attempts). Seahawks rookie WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jake Bobo have each scored touchdowns in two consecutive games.
Seattle has allowed just 12.5 points per game since Week 4, the NFL’s best mark in that span. That defense had three takeaways vs. Cleveland, two of which set up touchdowns, including the game-winner. It was Seattle’s third game with three takeaways this season along with wins over the Lions and Giants.
That defense is anchored by rookie first-round cornerback Devon Witherspoon, who was named the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Month for October. In just his first year, Witherspoon ranks as a top-10 corner in a variety of coverage metrics, including completion percentage allowed (42.9%), forced incompletions (7) and passer rating allowed (53.2). The Seahawks rookie has also posted 80.0-plus grades against the run (84.2) and as a pass-rusher (91.9), setting himself apart as one of the league’s premier all-around corners. The Seahawks have allowed only nine second-half points and no touchdowns in their last four games.
Second-year linebacker Boye Mafe has recorded a sack in five consecutive contests, the longest active streak in the NFL. It’s tied for the second longest streak in franchise history, one short of Michael Sinclair’s franchise record of six straight games with a sack. Sunday should be the debut of Pro Bowl defensive end Leonard Williams, who was acquired from the Giants.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Williams should be caught up enough by the end of this week to be active for Sunday’s game in Baltimore, and Williams said that after nine seasons in the NFL, he isn’t worried about transitioning to a new defense.
“I’ve been playing D-line for a long time and there’s not going to be too much of a difference here,” he said. “I’m willing to play wherever they want me to play. I think I’m a pretty versatile player. I can play end, nose, three-technique, wherever, preferably three-technique. I’m excited. The team seems fun and has a lot of energy in the meetings, on the field and stuff like that. I’m just coming in open-eyed and taking it all in.”
Carroll needs one win to tie Mike Shanahan and Jeff Fisher for 13th place on the NFL’s all-time winningest coaches list with 178.

Why Bet on Baltimore?
The Ravens won their third straight game Sunday, 31-24 at Arizona. Lamar Jackson completed 18 of 27 passes for 157 yards and one touchdown while adding five carries for 17 yards. After accounting for four touchdowns in the previous game, Jackson wasn’t asked to do much with Gus Edwards’ three-touchdown performance leading the way for Baltimore’s offense.
Jackson has shown flashes of his 2019 NFL MVP form with his efficient passing and elusive scrambling. He has completed a career-best 70.5% of his throws and has produced 16 runs of 10 yards or more, which is tied for most in the league. He has led the Ravens to a 6-2 record while posting a 9:3 TD:INT through the air and adding five rushing touchdowns through eight games. Jackson is 15-2 (.882) when playing at home in November, December and January.
However, the Ravens rank 29th in the NFL in total yards in the second half (134.9) and have scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter (only three teams have fewer). Baltimore lacks an explosive running back since the season-ending Achilles injury to J.K. Dobbins.
WR Odell Beckham Jr. was held without a catch last Sunday for the first time in a full game as a professional. OBJ missed some practice this week but will play. He has 14 catches for 162 yards near the midpoint of the season and is still looking for his first touchdown. Rookie Zay Flowers leads the Ravens with 61 targets. Tight end Mark Andrews is second with 45. Then comes Beckham at 26, despite missing two games due to an ankle injury.
Baltimore leads the NFL with 31 sacks and 15.1 points per game allowed. The last NFL team to lead the league in those two categories over a full season was the 2010 AFC Champion Pittsburgh Steelers. Safety Geno Stone leads the NFL with five picks and has one in three straight. He’s the first Ravens player to do that since 2012.
Under head coach John Harbaugh, the Ravens are 42-22 vs. NFC teams (2-0 this season). With Jackson as its starter, Baltimore is 17-1 against the NFC, including 1-0 vs. Seattle (2019). Baltimore is 6-2 for the eighth time in franchise history (also 2019- 21, 2010-12 and 2006) and seventh time under Harbaugh. The Ravens made the playoffs in six of those previous seven such seasons (all but the 2021 campaign).
