NFL 2022 Vikings Win/Loss Betting Prediction for the Upcoming Season

After another disappointing season, the Minnesota Vikings hired former Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell to right the ship. The Vikings’ nucleus remains strong, but is Minnesota good enough to go over their win loss total? Check out the win loss total analysis for the Minnesota Vikings along with a NFL Team Totals Betting prediction.

Minnesota Vikings Win/Loss Total Prediction for the 2022 Season | NFL Betting

2022-23 NFL Regular Season

  • When: Sep. 8, 2022 – Jan. 8, 2023
  • Minnesota Vikings Total Win Loss Total Odds: 8 ½

Why the Minnesota Vikings will win more than 8 games

Few teams are as strong at the skill positions as the Minnesota Vikings. One of the reasons Kevin O’Connell took the job is because he felt the Vikings were loaded enough at key positions to have success this season.

Kirk Cousins is a solid quarterback. The wide receiver duo of Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson is one of the best in the NFL. Running back Dalvin Cook is also one of the best in the league.

The offensive line isn’t bad. The defense is solid enough. So if O’Connell can get the Vikings to play with more energy, Minnesota should be a playoff team.

Why the Minnesota Vikings won’t win more than 8 games

O’Connell is a talented offensive coordinator. But switching from a coordinator coaching position to head coach doesn’t always work out well.

Most coordinators are just that, coordinators. Being a head coach is different. Can O’Connell make the switch with success? Not only that, but the schedule isn’t a cake walk.

Four potential losses loom in the first six games: vs Green Bay, at Philadelphia, vs New Orleans, and at Miami. Then after their early season bye, the Vikings must play 11 straight games versus some strong opponents, including Indianapolis, Green Bay again, Dallas, New England, Buffalo, and Washington.

Final Betting Analysis: Will the Minnesota Vikings win at least 9 games?

The Vikings have a difficult schedule for sure. But they should have a shot to win 9 games. Sweeping the Lions and the Bears should be 4 wins.

The Vikings will beat Arizona on Oct. 30. On Nov. 6, Minnesota travels to Washington. The Vikings, if they’re healthy at that time, are better than the Commanders, which means Minnesota could grab their sixth victory in that game.

Home games in back-to-back weeks should lead to wins 7 and 8. Minnesota plays New England on Nov. 24 and the New York Jets on December 4. Beating New England won’t be easy. But on paper, Minnesota is the better team.

The ninth win will come versus the New York Giants on December 24, Christmas Eve. The Giants shouldn’t hang with Minnesota at home.

If the Vikings play to expectations, they should win 9 games. If Minnesota plays above expectations, they can win 10 to 12. There are three home games that can go either way, versus New Orleans, versus Dallas, and versus Indianapolis.

Minnesota could win all three of those games, which means they end the season with a 12-5 record. The chances of 12 wins isn’t probable. But it is possible.

Minnesota Vikings Win Loss Total Prediction: Over 8 ½
