Given the start we have seen to the 2021 NFL season, it is fair to suggest that we can expect to see many more surprises before we get to the playoffs. There are several big stories that are stealing the headlines, perhaps the biggest of which is the struggles of the Kansas City Chiefs. When a team as stacked as they are struggles, it becomes tough to find answers to what is going wrong. On the flipside, we have some really good stories going, such as the Dallas Cowboys looking like a contender and the Tennessee Titans rolling and looking frightening on the offensive side of the football. We are all aware, though, that there could be different teams in the conversation a month from now, so it’s best to just focus on the week ahead. With that in mind, let’s get into our O/U picks for Week 8 of the NFL season so you can place your bets against the NFL odds.
Week 8 O/U Picks for the 2021 Season | NFL Betting
Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills (OVER 49 ½)
Whenever a team takes a loss, the last thing they want is to go into a bye week, as it always feels good to get out there and get back to winning ASAP. The Buffalo Bills are in that position after losing an absolute thriller to the Titans in Week 6 of the season. You can bet that they will be coming off the bye week looking to get back to winning ways with an offense that is averaging close to 34 PPG this season. The Dolphins are in the midst of an epic losing skid, but they have put some points on the board in the last couple of games. The last 5 times that Miami has paid a visit to Buffalo, the OVER has hit each time. The last 10 meetings between these teams has seen the OVER hit 7 times.
New England Patriots at LA Chargers (OVER 49)
It is never a good idea to get too carried away with any team in the first month and a half of the season. As we have seen in the past, teams that start hot can very quickly go cold, while slow starters often get rolling at just the right time. The Chargers have looked very good at times this season, but they were blown out by the Ravens before heading into their bye week. That Patriots have had a tough time with consistency, but their offense looked sharp in a 54-13 win over the hapless New York Jets last weekend. The Patriots have now averaged 36 PPG over their last 3 games. Most of the trends with these two have been leaning UNDER, but with both offenses humming, I think we might go OVER.
Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings (OVER 55)
The Sunday night game has all the makings of a beauty, with the Cowboys and Vikings set to duke it out. The Cowboys put a scare into the Super Bowl champions in Week 1 and have since gone unbeaten in the 5 games since. The offense has been on fire and is averaging 34 PPG. The Vikings have been digging out after a slow start to the season and have now won back-to-back games and 3 of their last 4 to get back to .500. Given how well the offense has been firing, it’s no surprise that the Cowboys have seen the OVER hit in 5 of their last 6 games. Even more convincing is that fact that 8 of their last 9 games versus conference foes have also gone OVER.
