It’s always interesting to look back on the season and see how things changed from week to week. As we head into the midway point of the season, you do have to wonder if the teams that are currently on top will still be there once we get to the playoffs. We did see the last unbeaten team fall in Week 8, with the Arizona Cardinals losing a thriller at the hands of the Green Bay Packers. We are seeing some really good divisional races going down right now, and while we still have half the season to come, we are at the point when teams are going to start making a push for playoff spots. Let’s now look ahead to Week 9 and see if we can pick out some winners against the spread so you can wager against their NFL odds.
Week 9 ATS Picks for the 2021 Season | NFL Betting
Buffalo Bills (-14 ½) at Jacksonville Jaguars
Coming into the season, the Buffalo Bills were considered one of the favorites to win it all. They are still up, there, but they are coming off a poor display in a win over the Miami Dolphins. They are sitting at 5-2 and on top of the NFC East. They should be able to take care of a Jacksonville team that has just 1 win on the season, but this has been a bit of a strange season when it comes to upsets. Buffalo has covered the spread in 10 of their last 15 meetings with the Jaguars, but perhaps more importantly, they are 13-4-1 ATS in their last 18 overall. On the flipside, Jacksonville is just 3-8 ATS in their last 11. They may not have been great last weekend, but I think Buffalo comes back big in Week 9.
Denver Broncos at Dallas Cowboys (-10)
The Cowboys started the season by losing a close one to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but they have been perfect since, winning 6 on a row. While their victory over Minnesota last weekend was perhaps the least convincing of the bunch, it is worth remembering that they were without the services of QB Dak Prescott, who is likely to be back in the fold this weekend. The Broncos snapped a 4-game losing skid last week with a win over Washington, but they look to be in over their heads here. The Broncos have gone just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games, but they have gone 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 meetings with Dallas. The Cowboys have covered in 7 straight overall and should make it 8 here.
New England Patriots (-4 ½) at Carolina Panthers
Sometimes, you need to take a bit of a risk when you make your picks, which is what I am doing with this one. The Patriots have been a tough team to predict this season, but they appear to be rounding into form, as they have won 2 in a row to get to 4-4 on the season. They have failed to cover in each of their last 5 meetings with the Panthers, yet I still like them to win and cover here. That’s because the Panthers are struggling on offense at the moment. Sam Darnold has been poor over the past couple of weeks, and they are still without the services of Christian McCaffrey. Maybe an iffy pick here, but I am taking the Patriots.
I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?
