NHL Props and Future Bets for the Stanley Cup 2024: Early Analysis in Regular Season, Week 6

NHL Props and Future Bets for the Stanley Cup 2024: Early Analysis in Regular Season, Week 6

There are lots of reasons to love the NHL, but for those of us who like to wager on sports, the fact that there are a ton of games every day is certainly positive.

While many of us are content to simply wager on the daily matchups, there are others who love to dig out the old crystal ball and try to gaze into the future.

My NHL Analysis

Who will win their respective divisions, which teams will be battling it out for the conference crowns, and who will ultimately win the Stanley Cup?

Those are burning questions for many hockey fans, and there are plenty who are willing to take a risk in figuring out the answers.

If you have an idea as to who you believe will win the Cup, then you might well be able to fill in some of the gaps when it comes to future bets and props.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the betting options available to you right now.

NHL Regular Season Props and Futures Bets

It all begins with the battle for division supremacy, which in turn can help you narrow down the potential conference winners. If you have yet to wager on those outcomes, then there have probably been enough games played to start getting an idea as to how things might play out. Some divisions are going to be tighter than others, and you have to say that there really is no such thing as a lock at this stage of the season.

You could take a real risk and try a parlay bet on all the division winners, but this is certainly a risky one, albeit with some potentially huge rewards if you get it right.

Once you narrow down who you think will win each division, you can then start thinking about which division might be the strongest. The odds for that particular wager are tight at the moment, mostly because we are still very early in the season. Here is how things look right now:

  • Atlantic Division +250
  • Central Division +265
  • Pacific Division +280
  • Metropolitan Division +290

If you can figure out who will win each division, it makes the conference winners feel a little more predictable. Again, it still feels too early to go all in on one team or another in either conference, but you have to balance that out with looking at the current odds, as what you are seeing now is likely to be the best odds you are going to get for some teams between now and the end of the season.

Another great regular season prop bet to take a look at is the total points for each team. These are essentially coin flip bets where you take either the OVER or UNDER on the total points a team will amass over the course of the regular season.

I would not recommend betting on every team, but rather picking out a few that you feel particularly confident about and going with those. Again, there are some very decent odds available for what are wagers that you have a 50/50 shot of winning.

Stanley Cup Playoffs Props and Futures Bets

The Stanley Cup playoffs are still a long way off from the beginning, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t start making some wagers right now. The easiest prop bet to get in on at the moment is deciding which teams will make it and which won’t. This is a simple YES or NO wager, although some teams are not going to be worth taking a chance on. For example, take a look at the Anaheim Ducks. They will almost certainly miss out on the post-season, with their NO odds current sitting at -10000. There is zero value to be found there, as with some other teams in a similar position, so the way to go here is to look for teams right on the cusp and make a decision one way or another.

Once we get to the end of the regular season, we will all know the playoff matchups, which is when we can start getting a little creative with our wagers. As soon as the matchups are in place, you can, of course, wager on the outcome of each series. That includes picking the winner, as well as trying to figure out how many games each series will go. We will also have a very clear idea of the path that each team will need to take to make it to the Stanley Cup Final, which leads us nicely to the next future bet.

NHL Playoff Bracket

Once the bracket is in place, it becomes a little easier to see how things might potentially play out, especially since we will have data from the regular season to go on that might help us figure out which teams might come out on top in series that look a little too close to call. At this point, we will be able to wager on potential Stanley Cup Final matchups. Will the top seeds advance, or will we see a dark horse emerge and make an unexpected run?

It’s after all this that we can start to seriously think about who will end the season as the Stanley Cup champion. We can also start to think about how many games it might take to win the cup, which is also another fun bet. Finally, we can also start making wagers on the player that we believe will win the Conn Smythe as the MVP of the playoffs.

Keep in mind that this might not be a player from the winning team, as we saw last year when Conor McDavid won it despite the Oilers losing in the Stanley Cup Final. There are a lot of things to consider when it comes to wagering on the NHL, so why not take a look at all the options, think about the current odds, and start deciding whether to wager now or perhaps wait for more data.
