We are back once again at Augusta National for the 2022 Masters, in what could be the most exciting tournament in recent years. Will anything top the 2019 win by Tiger Woods and the comeback story? Woods could beat that memory if he plays this week, just over 14 months removed from his car accident.

Jon Rahm +900

As one would expect, Jon Rahm is the betting favorite starting the week to win the green jacket. In the last few seasons, Rahm has really turned the burners on and has solidified himself as one of the best players on tour. Rahm is off to a slow start this season, but he is coming off a breakout year last season, which included a major championship win at the U.S. Open. 

Until last week, Rahm held the #1 spot in the World Golf Rankings. He assumed the spot a week after the U.S. Open win and held it until Scottie Scheffler won at the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play. Rahm is looking to regain the #1 spot in the world, but also become the third Spaniard to win a green jacket. 

Scottie Scheffler +1200

As mentioned, the new #1 golfer in the world, Scottie Scheffler is set to begin his reign as the top player at The Masters. Scheffler did not play last week at the Valero Texas Open, due to a long week in Austin where he won the match play tournament. Before this season, Scheffler had never won on the PGA Tour, but he has rattled off three victories alone this season. 

When it comes to striking the golf ball and looking for distance, Scheffler is not a guy that will blow you away. He is able to keep the ball in play and score well. On the season, Scheffler is ranked sixth in birdie average, which can only help him in the ability to shoot low scores and win tournaments. 

Justin Thomas +1400

Justin Thomas has the third-best odds this week at The Masters with +1400 odds. The one-time major champion is looking to add a green jacket to his wardrobe and looking for his first win this season. Thomas has played in seven events this season with four top 10 finishes. 

This will be Thomas’ seventh appearance at The Masters, with his best finishing being a fourth-place performance in 2020. He has made the cut in all six previous appearances. Last season, Thomas finished in a tie for 21st at even par. 

Cameron Smith +1400

Speaking of a player that has jumped up the world rankings and the popularity of many golf bettors, Cameron Smith has made a name for himself this year on the PGA Tour. With two wins this season already, Smith is looking to become the second Australian to win a green jacket after his native friend, Adam Scott. 

Smith ended the season last year as the 22nd ranked player in the world. With wins at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and The Players Championship, Smith has jumped to #8 in the world. Smith would be a great pick this week with the fourth-best odds. 

Dustin Johnson +1600

The fifth-best odds for the week go to the former Masters champion himself, Dustin Johnson. Johnson accomplished something no other Masters champion has done before, winning his green jacket in the fall. Due to the Coronavirus, The Masters in 2020 was played in November. Johnson won that tournament at 20-under-par, breaking the all-time scoring record in the tournament’s history. 

The former champion and the two-time major winner is looking to get back into his best-playing shape after a rough season last year. Johnson only won once last season and that was on the DPWT.

We are a week away from the start of the first round of the 2022 Masters tournament. Updated Odds to Win The 2022 Masters – Top 3

Jon Rahm +900

Jon Rahm is still the favorite to win the green jacket at Augusta National in 2022. Last year we saw the first Japanese player to win the green jacket in Hideki Matsuyama. There have been two previous Spaniard winners at Augusta National before, with Seve Ballesteros and Sergio Garcia. 

Rahm fell out of the #1 World Ranking spot this last week after Scottie Scheffler won the WGC Dell Match Play tournament. He had held the #1 spot since The Open last year. 

Rahm has appeared in eight events this season with four top 10 finishes. He finished tied for ninth last week at the WGC Dell Match Play. 

Looking back to last year, Rahm finished tied for fifth in the final standings at The Masters. Can he bring home the green jacket this year for his second major win?

Rory McIlroy +1200

Looking to complete the career grand slam, a win at the 2022 Masters would complete that for Rory McIlroy. While he has only been cut once from the tournament, McIlroy has rarely been able to creep into contention for the green jacket. McIlroy is coming off a poor performance last year where he was cut for the first time. 

Augusta has shown that you can win at an older age, but it is much harder to do so. As McIlroy continues to get older, the younger competition continues to get better. Early on in his career, we thought we may have another generational talent on our hands. 

His best finish to date at The Masters is a fourth-place finish in 2015 when Jordan Spieth took the world by surprise and tied the tournament record for most under par, tying one with Tiger Woods. We have not seen McIlroy this season since The Players Championship. 

Jordan Spieth +1400

The former champion returns to Augusta National, looking to regain his stature within the golfing world. Spieth returns this week to San Antonio, where he won last year. Since the collapse in 2016, Spieth has struggled in the spotlight. 

Within the last few years, Spieth has slowly gained his confidence back. Spieth did not advance last week to the final 16 spots in the match play tournament but made a considerable jump in the World Golf Rankings in the last year. 

There are certain courses that Spieth plays well at, and Augusta is one of those places. His best finish this season was a second-place finish at Pebble Beach.

The world No. 1 and defending champion is trying to become the first golf to win back-to-back green jackets since Tiger Woods in 2001-02. In eight events this season, the 36-year-old South Carolina native has recorded five Top-25 finishes and four Top-10 finishes while winning last year’s Masters in November.

Johnson ranks eighth in driving distance (313.3), 24th in greens-in-regulation, 10th in eagles, 34th in birdie average (4.25) and a stellar third in scoring average (69.6). DJ heads into this week’s Texas Open fresh off a T28 finish at last week’s WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event. Johnson also finished T2 in the 2019 Masters and T10 in 2018. The two-time major winner also finished T4 in the 2016 Masters and T6 the year before. Johnson is the favorite for a reason.

Bryson DeChambeau +900

Fifth in the Official Golf World Rankings (OGWR), the 27-year-old Californian ranks first in driving distance (320.8) and first in eagles per hole. DeChambeau also ranks seventh in birdie average (4.67) and first in scoring average (69.4). In nine events this season, DeChambeau has recorded six Top-25 finishes, five Top-10 finishes and a pair of wins including last year’s U.S. Open and the Arnold Palmer Invitational the first week of March. DeChambeau finished T42 in last week’s WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event following a T3 finish in the Players Championship two weeks prior. The bad news is that DeChambeau has not finished better than T29 in his last three appearances at Augusta including a T34 finish last year.

Jon Rahm +1100

Third in the OGWR, Jon Rahm is still in search of his first major. In 11 events this season, Rahm has recorded 10 Top-25 finishes and seven Top-10 finishes. Rahm has recorded three Top-10 finishes in his last four outings and comes into this year’s Masters fresh off a T5 finish in last week’s WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event. Rahm finished T9 at the Player’s Championship just prior to that.

The 26-year-old Rahm ranks 23rd in driving distance (306.1), sixth in G.I.R, 18th in birdie average (4.45) and ninth in scoring average (69.9). More importantly, Rahm has recorded three consecutive Top-10 finishes at the Masters by finishing fourth in 2018, T9 in 2019 and T7 a year ago. Now, second in the OGWR, the 27-year-old Kentucky native ranks a modest 63rd in driving distance (300.4), 33rd in G.I.R, 24th in G.I.R., a stellar first in birdie average (5.18) and equally impressive second in scoring average (69.6). In 11 events this season, Thomas has recorded nine Top-25 finishes, five Top-10 finishes and one huge win a the Player’s Championship two weeks ago. Thomas comes into this year’s Masters fresh off a disappointing T42 in last week’s WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event. More importantly, Thomas finished fourth in last year’s Masters, T 12 in 2019 and T17 in 2018. After improving his score in five consecutive Masters’ it looks like Thomas could be ready for the outright win.

Brooks Koepka +1200

In nine events this season, the 30-year-old Koepka has recorded four Top-25 finishes and four Top-10 finishes while winning the Waste Management Open in February. 12th in the OGWR, the Florida native ranks 17th in driving distance (308.2), 31st in G.I.R, 15th in birdie average (4.50) and 10th in scoring average (69.9). In five appearances at Augusta, the four-time major winner has finished T33 or better every time. Koepka finished T7 last year, T2 in 2019 and T11 in 2017 prior to sitting out the 2018 Masters. Whether you like the polarizing Koepka or not, this dude is seriously gifted and has a great history of challenging at Augusta.

In 14 events last season, Simpson won the Waste Management Open and RBC Heritage while also recording one second place finish, one third place finish and eight Top-10 finishes while making the cut 12 times. Simpson finished T8 at the US Open in September and T13 at the Shriners Open in early October. Simpson also tied for fifth at last year’s Masters while finishing T28 at Augusta in 2015, T29 in 2016 and T20 in 2018. Simpson has five Top-50 finishes at the Masters in eight appearances and is playing extremely well, even if he is flying a bit under the radar. Simpson is currently seventh in scoring average (68.3), fifth in sand save percentage. Maybe it’s me, but I love Simpson’s value as a +2800 pick to win the 2020 Masters and I believe he’s one of the top three golfers with a chance to claim this year’s green jacket.

No. 2 Jon Rahm +1200

Currently 59t in the FedEx standings, but a stellar second in the official golf world rankings, 25-year-old Jon Rahm is ranked seventh in driving distance, 16th in eagles per hole and 24th in scoring average (69.6).  In 15 events last season, the Spaniard won the Memorial Tournament and BMW Championship while also recording one second place finish, one third place finish and eight Top-10 finishes. Rahm finished T23 at the US Open and T17 in the CJ Cup at Shadow Creek. In three career appearances at Augusta, Rahm has finished T27 in 2017, fourth in 2018 and T9 a year ago. Make no mistake about it, this could be the year that Rahm wins his first major.

No. 1 Xander Schauffele +2000

Currently eighth in the FedEx rankings and seventh in the official golf world rankings, the 26-year-old Schauffele is ranked fourth in scoring average (67.5), an identical fourth in sand save percentage and 32nd in birdie average (4.50). In 18 events last season, the sweet-swinging Californian recorded three second place finishes, one third place finish, seven Top-10 finishes and 16 Top-25 finishes. More importantly, when it comes to performing in majors, Schauffele shows up in a big way. In 13 majors appearances, Schauffele has recorded a stupendous nine Top-10 finishes and five Top-5 finishes. Schauffele finished fifth in this year’s US Open while also finishing T2 in last year’s Masters and second in the recently completed CJ Cup. For me, the still-blossoming star is the top pick to win the 2020 Masters!
