Betting 2024 US Open Tennis Tournament

The 2024 US Open will continue on Friday, and there are now just 32 players remaining in both the men’s and women’s tournament.

This is when the action is really going to start to heat up, and there will be some great matchups taking place.

There have been a few upsets through the first two rounds, but most of the biggest names are still in the mix to win the US Open title.

That is not only going to lead to some great matches to watch, but it will also lead to excellent betting opportunities.

Here is a look at some of the biggest US Open 3rd round matches and the bets that you simply want to make.

Writer’s Picks fo the Third Round of the US Open

Azarenka-Wang Ready to Battle

Victoria Azarenka and Yafan Wang are two of the most interesting names in the women’s field, and each player has been terrific up to this point.

Now these two women are going to be meeting up, and that is going to be a terrific battle on Friday.

It is Azarenka that is the moneyline favorite to win this matchup, and she is also at -5 when looking at the spread.

That isn’t giving Wang enough respect, especially when it comes to how well she has been playing.

Betting on Azarenka to win this match is the way to go, but you want to jump on the +5 and back Wang to cover the spread.

Gauff Looking Strong

Coco Gauff is hoping to end a run of disappointing finishes in grand slam events with a great run on the court in New York.

That has worked out well for her up to this point, but things are going to get much tougher from here on out.

Gauff will be taking on Elina Svitolina in the Round of 32, and this should be a tough test for the betting favorite in this matchup.

Svitolina is getting +3.5 when looking at the spread, and that actually makes here solid underdog pick to check out.

There just won’t be any stopping Gauff on Friday night in this matchup as she will have a huge crowd behind her as well.

Bet on Gauff at -240 as the will advance to the Round of 16.

Three Men to Target

This has been a year full of surprises in the world of tennis on the men’s side of things, but that hasn’t taken place at the US Open.

The top seeds continue to advance on the men’s side of things, and there are three players that will have some success on Friday.

Casper Ruud is not one of the top betting favorites to win the US Open, but he has been looking like a title contender up to this point.

Ruud will be taking on Juncheng Shang in the Round of 32, and this should be another solid win.

Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev are two favorites to win the US Open, and both men have looked the part so far.

Djokovic and Zverev are both big betting favorites in the Round of 32, and they are going to roll into the Sweet 16.

2023 US Open Odds for the Third Round Games: Betting Singles on Friday

Previous Betting News

The third round of the US Open kicks off Friday with early action beginning at 11 a.m. ET at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The first week of the tournament has already featured major upsets, particularly in the men’s draw, where top seeds Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Karen Khachanov, and Hubert Hurkacz are already eliminated.

The women’s draw hasn’t been as wild (as of Thursday afternoon, at least), but there have been a few notable upsets. Top-20 seeds Viktoria Azarenka, Beatriz Haddad Maia, Petra Kvitova, and Caroline Garcia all lost in the first two rounds.

Elise Mertens vs. Coco Gauff

US Open Odds: Elise Mertens +480; Coco Gauff -800

Coco Gauff has been playing at an elite level in recent weeks, winning the Cincinnati Masters and looking poised and confident through her first two matches at the US Open. This could be the year she finally – despite still only being 19 years old – breaks through at a Grand Slam after several years of hype.

Mertens just scraped by both of her first two opponents – Mirjam Bjorklund and Danielle Collins – and shouldn’t present much of a challenge to Gauff.

Karolina Muchova vs. Taylor Townsend

US Open Odds: Karolina Muchova -500; Taylor Townsend +340

Friday’s third-round match between Karolina Muchova and Taylor Townsend will be the first meeting between the two players. Muchova, the 2023 French Open runner-up, is looking in great form through her first two matches and previously reached the final at the Cincinnati Masters.

Townsend upset Haddad Maia in the second round but should have a much harder time beating Muchova. The world No. 132 is 17-13 this season but hasn’t beaten any opponents of note this season.

Adrian Mannarino vs. Frances Tiafoe

US Open Odds: Adrian Mannarino +255; Frances Tiafoe -349

Frances Tiafoe, runner-up at the 2022 US Open, looks poised to make another deep run at this year’s event. He has a tall task ahead of him in French player Adrian Mannarino in the third round. Tiafoe won each of his first two matches in straight sets and has lost just 15 games thus far.

Mannarino, meanwhile, won both of his matches in four sets. Tiafoe and Mannarino have split their two career meetings but haven’t played since 2018 when Tiafoe beat Mannarino in the first round at the US Open. Expect a similar result on Friday.

Zhizhen Zhang vs. Rinky Hijikata

US Open Odds: Zhizhen Zhang -162; Rinky Hijikata +126

Few people would have had either Zhizhen Zhang or Rinky Hijikata making the third round, but one will move on to the Round of 16 with a win on Friday. Zhang, the world No. 52, is playing the best tennis of his career after having secured wins over Ruud and American J.J. Wolf, both of which were in five sets.

Hijikata, a 22-year-old Australian, had a more favorable draw to the Round of 32 than Zhang but looked dominant in his last win, 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 against Marton Fucsovics. Hijikata has also been on court considerably less than Zhang and, at +126, is a great value bet to move on to the next round.

ATP & WTA 2022 US Open Odds Update: Must Bet 3rd Round Matches to Not Miss

Previous Betting News

After a wild first three days at the US Open, Thursday was a little calmer with fewer upsets. This is good news as there are several intriguing third-round matches.

Let’s take a look at how the US Open Betting Odds to win the tournament have changed and some of the best third-round matches on which to bet.

Updates and 2022 US Open Betting Opportunities for Third Round Action

Men’s Outright Odds

Must-Bet Matches

Andy Murray (+175) vs Matteo Berrettini (-225)

One of the first third-round matches on Friday involves 2012 US Open winner Andy Murray against Matteo Berrettini, who is seeking his first career Grand Slam. Murray hasn’t shown much on the hard court this season, but always seems to up his game for Grand Slams. He won the last three sets in his four-set, second-round victory over Emilio Nava by a combined score of 18-4.

Berrettini, meanwhile, defeated Frenchman Hugo Grenier 2-6, 6-1, 7-6, 7-6 in the second round. The world No. 14 is 21-9 this season and has won two titles. He appears to be rounding into form after recovering from a bout with COVID-19 earlier this summer that forced him to miss Wimbledon.

Berrettini is 2-1 in his career against Murray and won their last two meetings. However, Murray won the only meeting between the two players on the hard court.

Tommy Paul (+137) vs Casper Ruud (-175)

Tommy Paul is one of the few remaining relatively young Americans with a chance to win the US Open. Paul, who took out Sebastian Korda in five sets in the second round, will have the home crowd advantage against Ruud, the 2022 French Open finalist.

Ruud is 2-1 against Paul in his career and won their last match at the 2021 Australian Open. They had a five-set affair at the 2020 French Open. This should be a competitive match, but Paul will have the slight edge coming off an emotional victory and having the home crowd support.

Women’s Outright Odds

Must-Bet Matches

Bianca Andreescu (+120) vs Caroline Garcia (-150)

This is easily the most anticipated match in the third round, at least from a betting standpoint. Andreescu, the 2019 US Open winner, improved to 12-1 in the Grand Slam in her career after a second-round victory over Beatriz Haddad Maia. She battled injuries and inconsistency over the last few years, but is starting to look like the player who dominated in 2019.

Garcia, however, is one of the betting favorites to win the tournament. The 28-year-old made quick work of her opponents in the first two rounds and is coming off of a title win at the Cincinnati Masters, where she beat top players Petra Kvitova, Arya Sabalenka, and Jessica Pegula.

Andreescu is a fan favorite in New York and will be looking for redemption after losing to Garcia 7-6, 4-6, 4-6, at the Bad Homburg Open in June.

ATP & WTA 2021 US Open Betting Update: Naomi Osaka and Medvedev Into Round Three

Previous Betting News

MyBookie returns with another daily 2021 US Open Update, where we take a look at what has happened in USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, which players delivered, and who fell flat. Here is everything you need to know about the 2021 US Open and how to place smart bets on the US Open Betting Odds.

2021 US Open Daily Update – September 1st Update

ATP & WTA Betting | 2021 US Open

When: August 30 – September 12
Where: USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Queens, New York City, United States

Osaka Into Round Three

The defending champion, Naomi Osaka, advanced into the third round of the Grand Slam tennis tournament after her opponent, Olga Danilovic, withdrew from her Round 2 fixture due to medical reasons.

The current world no.3 was supposed to face the Serbian tennis player in the 2021 US Open Round 2, after a straight-set victory against Marie Bouzkova. However, The Japanese tennis star didn’t get a chance to face off against Danilovic, who withdrew from the tournament due to illness.

With that, Osaka secured a walkover win and took one step closer to defending her title from 2020. Although an unfortunate turn of events for the current world no.145, Osaka must feel happy that she was able to save her strength for the upcoming match.

Osaka will next face world no.73 Leylah Annie Fernandez, who fought her way into Round 3 of the 2021 US Open for the first time in her career. The 18-year-old Canadian tennis player made it into R3 with two straight-set wins against no.88 Ana Konjuh and world no.70 Kaia Kanepi.

It will mark Fernandez’s first meeting with Osaka and possibly one of the toughest of her career. Regardless, the 18-year-old has done well against top-rated players before; most notably, she won against then-world no.5 Belinda Bencic with 6-2, 7-2 in FedCup in 2020.

Medvedev Takes One Step Closer To His Maiden Grand Slam

Daniil Medvedev’s quest for an elusive first Grand Slam title continues as the Russian tennis player eased past Dominik Koepfer in the second round of the 2021 US Open. Medvedev won his R2 match with 6-4, 6-1, 6-2, adding to his previous success against Richard Gasquet, who he beat 6-4, 6-3, 6-1 on Tuesday.

Medvedev’s win against Koepfer was far removed from his previous meeting with the German, who he defeated en route to the US Open finals in 2019. However, the match between world no.2 and no.57 was much closer than expected, as Koepfer managed to keep pace with Medvedev for the first half of the first set (3-3) before Medvedev took control and won with 6-4.

The remaining two sets proved fairly straightforward for the 2021 Australian Open finalist, who needed just north of one hour to close out the deal at 3-0.

“It was a great level from me – there were a few tight moments in the match that I managed to hold well, and I’m really happy to be through in less than two hours,” said Medvedev.

With this win, Medvedev made it into Round 3 of the US Open for the third consecutive year. In his last three appearances, Medvedev reached R3 (2018), finals (2019), and semi-finals (2020).

Medvedev’s next opponent is world no.74 Pablo-Andujar-Alba, with who he will clash on Friday, September 3. The 35-year-old Spaniard has reached R3 of the US Open for only the second time of his career, with clean performances against world no.129 Mikhail Kukushkin (3-2) and world no.115 Philipp Kohlschreiber (3-0), who he beat on Wednesday.

ATP & WTA 2022 US Open Betting Update: Zverev and Nadal Could Miss the Major Due to Injury

Previous Betting News

All eyes are on the build-up to the US Open in just under three weeks’ time. We bring you updated US Open Odds, as well as injury news and rumors ahead of the year’s final Grand Slam.

Early Updated 2022 US Open Odds to Win, Updated Field, Rumors | Tennis Betting Analysis

The final Grand Slam of the year will be underway in three weeks’ time, and one thing is for sure: This one will be different from the previous major of 2022.

Wimbledon saw all Russian and Belarussian players banned, leaving Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev on the sidelines in the men’s draw and WTA players Aryna Sabalenka, Daria Kasatkina, and Victoria Azarenka barred as well.

Add to this Marin Cilic and Matteo Berrettini withdrawing late due to Covid-19, and Iga Swiatek heading into the tournament on a 35-game winning streak, and the dynamics six weeks ago at Wimbledon were very different to what the US Open will offer.

We take a look at updated odds for the US Open starting August 29, as well as news and rumors impacting both sides of the draw.

Men’s Outright Odds

Women’s Outright Odds

Djokovic in Doubt for Men’s Draw

Every day that passes without an update from the US government is another day that Novak Djokovic is less and less likely to appear at the US Open.

Under current vaccination restrictions, the Serbian, currently leading in the odds at +150, is unable to travel to the USA as an unvaccinated foreign national. Bookmakers’ odds do not yet reflect this, as Djokovic is listed to play, but it’s only a matter of time until an official call comes from the player’s camp that he will not be in attendance.

Expect the inevitable news about Djokovic’s participation to significantly shake up the odds in the men’s field, with Daniil Medvedev becoming the man to beat.

Zverev and Nadal in Question Due to Injury

Sascha Zverev is also under a cloud of doubt for the US Open, having recently withdrawn from the Montreal and Cincinnati Masters 1000 events.

The German suffered a nasty ankle injury in the French Open semi-finals back in May, which brought an end to what was shaping up as an all-time classic match.

Zverev has not played since, and while he was always hoping to make a return prior to the US Open, even if he manages to get back on the court by then, he will be doing so without having played a match in over three months—hence his current odds of +1400.

Another favorite currently racing to be match fit before August 29 is Rafael Nadal. Withdrawing from his Wimbledon semi-final against Nick Kyrgios with a 7mm abdominal tear, aggravated by his five-set win over Taylor Fritz, where he played through obvious pain, Nadal has not played a match since.

The Spaniard has been seen on the practice court, however, and appears the most hopeful out of these three to make the courts come US Open time.

With so many favorites in doubt, will we see a dark horse emerge in the men’s field?

Sinner, Alcaraz, and Kyrgios Biggest Challenges to Medvedev

Several hotshots are mounting compelling cases heading into the last Slam of the year, and there’s every chance we’ll see a new Grand Slam champion crowned in a month’s time.

Jannick Sinner continues to rise in the odds, up to +1400 now. A compelling three-set comeback against Carlos Alcaraz at the Croatia Open ten days ago fired off a warning shot in what has already been a dominant season for the Italian, who is 35-9 year-to-date.

Alcaraz, on the other hand, is 42-7 for the year and has just reached a career-high of No.4 in the world, off the back of four singles titles this year.

Expect either of these NextGen stars to have their breakthrough win at this year’s US Open.

Speaking of in-form players, Nick Kyrgios is having the year of his life and is building nicely for the final Grand Slam of the year.

Having risen up to No.37 in the rankings, Kyrgios has a good chance of being seeded at the US Open after making the final of Wimbledon and winning the singles/doubles combo in Washington last week.

A match-up against Daniil Medvedev in Montreal later today will give an excellent indication of where Australia’s form is ahead of late August.

Women’s US Open Dominated by Serena William’s News

On the women’s side of the draw, the bombshell of Serena Williams’ retirement will likely dominate the narrative at this year’s US Open.

Though Williams hasn’t officially indicated the US Open would be her final tournament, it seems more than likely that the tournament she has won six times will be where she says her last goodbye. It would be a fairytale ending for Williams to win her home Grand Slam one more time, but a longshot, with bookies ranking her 13th favorite on +2200.

Other favorites in the women’s draw have slipped over the last week, with Simona Halep, Maria Sakkari, and Aryna Sabalenka all going back several points. Paula Badosa has risen to +1400, however, and remains an outside chance.

The overwhelming favorite remains Iga Swiatek on +240, who is looking to regain her winning ways at the National Bank Open in Toronto this week. Naomi Osaka is also in the race, as she currently plays without a coach, alongside Simona Halep, who, despite her slip in the odds over the last week, is the third favorite for the title.

Play commences August 29, with all your updated US Open odds available here at MyBookie.ag.

2019 US Open Women’s Round 3 Odds, Preview & Picks

Previous Betting News

Elina Svitolina, Karolina Pliskova, Serena Williams, and Ashleigh Barty are all in action in Round 3 at the US Open on Friday, August 30. Although those highly ranked players will step onto the Flushing Meadows hardcourts, the biggest matchup should be Sofia Kenin against Madison Keys. Check out the US Open odds, analysis, and free picks for Round 3 action!

2019 US Open Women’s Round 3 Odds, Preview & Picks

When: August 26 – September 8
Where: USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Flushing Meadows, NY
Surface: Hard
TV: ESPN /ESPN2 / ESPN+

Elina Svitolina vs Dayana Ystremska

2019 US Open Odds: Elina Svitolina -181 / Dayana Ystremska +134

Svitolina is getting no love here. Sure, she’s the -181 favorite, but she’s dominated. She beat Venus Williams in straight sets in Round 2 after taking down Whitney Osuigwe in straight sets in Round 1. Elina moves on the easiest of winners.

US Open Women’s Round 3 Pick: Elina Svitolina

Sofia Kenin vs Madison Keys

2019 US Open Odds: Sofia Kenin +145 / Madison Keys -196

Madison Keys has looked strong. She hasn’t lost a set and heads into this matchup versus fellow American Sofia Kenin on fire. But, Kenin won’t just sit back and let Keys win. Sofia Kenin has been just as impressive as Madison Keys. Because she’s only 20, Kenin has a lot of upside. She’ll flash enough brilliance to win this match.

US Open Women’s Round 3 Pick: Sofia Kenin

Johanna Konta vs Shuai Zhang

2019 US Open Odds: Johanna Konta -370 / Shuai Zhang +250

Johanna Konta stepped it up in the second round. She dominated Margarita Gasparyan 6-1, 6-0. Konta should have no trouble beating Zhang. At -370, Johanna actually offers overlay odds.

US Open Women’s Round 3 Pick: Johanna Konta

Ons Jabeur vs Karolina Pliskova

2019 US Open Odds: Ons Jabeur +399 / Karolina Pliskova -666

Pliskova got into a groove versus Mariam Bolkvadze in Round 2. She beat her opponent 6-1, 6-4. Karolina should dominate Ons Jabeur on August 30.

US Open Women’s Round 3 Pick: Karolina Pliskova

Serena Williams vs Karolina Muchova

2019 US Open Odds: Serena Williams -476 / Karolina Muchova +311

Serena struggled with Cat McNally. Eventually, she got past McNally. Karolina Muchova shouldn’t be as tough to beat as Cat was. Serena rolls into Round 4.

US Open Women’s Round 3 Pick: Serena Williams

Petra Martic vs Anastasija Sevastova

2019 US Open Odds: Petra Martic +104 / Anastasija Sevastova -136

Sevastova is favored, but Martic has looked strong. Petra beat Ana Bogdan 6-2, 6-4 in the second round. She’s worth backing as the slight underdog here.

US Open Women’s Round 3 Pick: Petra Martic

Fiona Ferro vs Qiang Wang

2019 US Open Odds: Fiona Ferro +215 / Qiang Wang -303

Keep an eye on Qiang Wang. After she beats Fiona Ferro, she likely battles Ashleigh Barty on Sunday. She can get by the French Open winner. On Friday, she should easily get past Ferro.

US Open Women’s Round 3 Pick: Qiang Wang

Maria Sakkari vs Ashleigh Barty

2019 US Open Odds: Maria Sakkari +241 / Ashleigh Barty -344

Barty hasn’t been her usual dominant self. She struggled in Round 1 and in Round 2. Sakkari is a young player, though. So, even if Maria wins a set, Barty will pick up her game and take the win.

US Open Women’s Round 3 Pick: Ashleigh Barty

Cori Gauff vs Naomi Osaka

2019 US Open Odds: Cori Gauff +248 / Naomi Osaka -357

Saturday’s top matchup pits 15-year-old Cori Gauff against the 1-seed at the US Open, Naomi Osaka. Gauff was sensational to get past Timea Babos 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. Osaka easily handled Magda Linette 6-2, 6-4 in the second round.

Once odds are set, Osaka will be a big favorite. The 21-year-old has finally hit her stride. She hadn’t played well since winning the Australian Open. Naomi’s at the top of her game right now. Even though Gauff has what it takes to be a tennis superstar, right now, the superstar is Naomi Osaka. She’ll beat Cori Gauff.

US Open Women’s Round 3 Pick: Naomi Osaka
