Svitolina, Vondrousova Pull Off the Upsets

A big underdog throughout the match, wild card Elina Svitolina shocked Centre Court on Tuesday as she upset No. 1 seed Iga Swiatek. Svitolina has made the semifinals here before, in 2019, the same year she made the final four at the U.S. Open. She is just now returning to the tour full-time after taking a break to have her first child with men’s player Gael Monfils.

Svitolina is no stranger to beating No. 1 ranked players, as she now has five such wins in her career. She kept Swiatek from her first Wimbledon semifinal with a three-set win, and Svitolina dominated the final set, 6-2.

In the other women’s quarterfinal on Tuesday, Marketa Vondrousova upset No. 4 seed Jess Pegula in three sets. The Czech Republic native is unseeded, and this will be her second career semifinal, following a loss in the French Open Final in 2019.

This quarterfinal also went three sets, with Vondrousova winning the opening and closing sets 6-4. Pegula, a Buffalo, New York native, won the middle set 6-2 but couldn’t pull off the victory.

Djokovic, Sinner Set for Showdown

On the men’s side there were no upsets on Tuesday. No. 2 seed Novak Djokovic, a big favorite to win his 24th Grand Slam title, lost the first set but rallied to win 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 in the final three sets. He looked a little stunned to drop the opening set to No. 7 Andrey Rublev at 6-4 but then turned things around with his strong forehand and masterful service returns.

On the other side of the quarters, Italian Jannik Sinner won in four sets against unseeded Roman Safiullin. Sinner, seeded No. 8, won the match 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 to reach his first-ever slam semifinal.

Last year, Sinner had Djokovic on the ropes at the Wimbledon quarterfinals, winning the first two sets 7-5 and 6-2. But Djokovic put the hammer down over the final three sets and rallied to win 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 and eventually claimed another Wimbledon title. Sinner has a big serve and can test Djokovic again though he will need a perfect match to dethrone the Wimbledon King. At MyBookie, Sinner is +360 to win, while Djokovic is -525 for Friday’s match.

Next Wimbledon Matches to Bet

The odds are out for the first women’s semifinal as we await the results of the other quarterfinals. Svitolina is +103 to win the match and reach her first-ever final, while Vondousova is -131. Svitolina has already shown the big-time pedigree as an underdog both at the French Open last month and here at Wimbledon. Bet on the mom to come through again as a moneyline underdog and move on to her first final.

2023 Wimbledon Odds, Updates, and Must-Bet Singles Quarter-finals First Round Matches

Previous Betting News

Monday was an eventful day at Wimbledon as the rain held off long enough for all play to be completed. By the end of the day, the quarterfinals were set on both the men’s and women’s draws, with those matches set for the next two days.

Let’s take a closer look at the Wimbledon betting odds for the men’s and women’s Singles Quarter-finals matches.

Eubanks Pulls Off the Upset

American Christopher Eubanks had the biggest win and upset on Monday. Unseeded, Eubanks pulled off his first-ever win over a top-5 seed when he upended No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas in five sets. The big server just won his first career grass tournament at Mallorca in a Wimbledon warm-up and now he’s into his first career grand slam quarterfinal.

Eubanks has improved his ATP ranking by more than 40 spots in the last two weeks and by more than 100 spots in the last year. This is the first time he’s ever played at Wimbledon, and he knocked off Tsitsipas 3-6, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. In the quarters, he will face No. 3 Daniil Medvedev

Other Seeds Roll On

While Eubanks grabbed the big upset, the other seven matches on Monday were won by the better-seeded play. In the men’s draw, No. 1 seed Carlos Alcaraz and No. 2 Novak Djokovic both dropped a set but went on to win their matches in four sets. Medvedev won in two sets when his opponent retired with injury, and No. 6 Holger Rune got past No. 21 Grigor Dimitrov in four sets.

On the women’s side, there was very little drama on Monday. No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka won 6-4, 6-0, and No. 3 Elena Rybakina didn’t even have to play a full set with an injury retirement. Rybakina is the defending champion, and Sabalenka won this year’s Australian Open.

No. 6 seed Ons Jabeur crushed former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova, the No. 9 seed. Their match was over quickly at 6-0, 6-3. Madison Keys, the only American in the bottom half of the draw, won her match in three sets and will face Sabalenka in the quarterfinals.

Next Matches to Bet

The big match on Wednesday is the women’s quarterfinal which is a rematch of last year’s final. Rybakina came from behind to beat Jabeur in three sets in last year’s final, winning her first grand slam. They have split four head-to-head matches all-time, with Jabeur winning twice in 2021 and Rybakina also winning in 2019.

Rybakina loves the grass as it showcases her power game. She is favored at MyBookie with a -173 money line. Jabeur is 136 on the money line to return to the semifinals. The same result as last year, Rybakina in three sets, is a strong option here at +300.

Eubanks is having a dream run in London, but the oddsmakers expect that to end on Wednesday against Medvedev. MyBookie has Eubanks at +365 to win this match and make the semifinals in his Wimbledon debut. Medvedev is -549 to also make his first-ever Wimbledon semifinal.

Neither player is a traditional grass player, and both have looked uncomfortable at times. Medvedev has never played well in Wimbledon before, and Eubanks is at an all-time confidence high. They have only met once, a 6-3, 7-5 win for Medvedev in March at the Miami Open.

This match should go the distance. Look for the over 38.5 games option at -120 and even the over 40.5 games option at +110. Eubanks is tough to break on serve, and if he has it going on Wednesday, he could keep this stunning run rolling into the semis.

Previous Betting News

After 10 straight days of having both men’s and women’s singles matches, Wimbledon changes things up for the final four days. Thursday and Saturday belong to the women, while Friday and Sunday are held for the men’s singles matches. With a roof on Centre Court and Court 1, the weather will no longer be a factor in London this week either, as Centre Court will be used for the semis and finals.

The women play the semifinals on Thursday, with unseeded players Elina Svitolina and Marketa Vondrousova going first. Svitolina, back on tour after giving birth, has never made a grand slam final. Vondrousova lost in the French Open Final in 2019, and this is her first semifinal since.

The second semifinal is a showdown between No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka and No. 6. Ons Jabeur. Sabalenka won the Australian Open this year, and Jabuer lost in both the Wimbledon and U.S. Open Finals in 2022.

Let’s take a closer look at the Wimbledon betting lines for the men’s and women’s Singles Quarter-finals third round matches.

Last Two Men’s Quarters Go to Favorites

The two men’s quarterfinals on Wednesday went to the favorites. Carlos Alcaraz, the No. 1 seed, grabbed a couple of breaks over fellow youngster No 6. Holger Rune. Alcaraz won 7-6, 6-3, 6-3 to reach his first semifinal at Wimbledon. Alcaraz won the 2022 U.S. Open and lost in the French Open semifinals to Djokovic this year after missing the Australian with injury.

The other quarterfinal was an epic 5-set showdown as No. 3 Daniil Medvedev outlasted unseeded American Christopher Eubanks. Medvedev is into his first semifinal at Wimbledon and his first at any slam since falling in the 2022 Australian Open Final.

Medvedev took the first set 6-4 before Eubanks won the next two sets 6-1 and 6-4. Medvedev cranked up his serve in the fourth set and dominated the points on his racket before winning in a tiebreak. He broke early in the fifth set and held Eubanks down for a 6-1 finish.

Next Matches to Bet

The women’s semifinals are already underway so take a look at the men’s semifinal lines on MyBookie to prepare for Friday. No. 2 Novak Djokovic is still the favorite to win the title, and he hasn’t lost on Centre Court since 2013. He is -206 on the futures bet with Alcaraz at +232, Medvedev at +1025, and Jannik Sinner at +1125.

Djokovic and Sinner played a classic 5-set match in the quarterfinals last year. Sinner won the first two sets before Djokovic got rolling and won the final three. For their semifinal on Friday, Djokovic is -598 at MyBookie to win the match, while Sinner is +390.

Sinner has a good serve, and he will need to slam home his first serve and mix it up to beat Djokovic. The line is +360 for this match to go five sets again and +190 to end in four sets. Last year Sinner won the first set, and Djokovic lost the first set in the quarters. Betting Sinner to win the first set this time around is +230.

Alcaraz is a big favorite against Medvedev, though not as big as Djokovic. Alcaraz is -289 to win in the semis, while Medvedev is +188. Medvedev beat a teenage Alcaraz in the second round at Wimbledon in 2021, while Alcaraz won their only 2023 matchup at the Indian Wells Final in March. That match was on the hard courts in California and went 6-3, 6-2 to Alcaraz.

Alcaraz is -277 to win the first set, and he is +290 to win the match in four sets. Alcaraz to win in five is +370 at MyBookie, while Medvedev to win in five is +550. Medvedev hadn’t won a five-set match in nearly 18 months before winning over Eubanks on Wednesday.

All signs point to an Alcaraz vs. Djokovic showdown in the final. That matchup would also determine who is ranked No. 1 in the ATP rankings on Monday.

2022 Wimbledon Betting Update: Must Watch Quarterfinals Games, Favorites, and More

Previous Betting News

With the conclusion of matches on Monday at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, we’re now into the quarter-finals of Wimbledon and what an interesting tournament it has been.

The top seed and overwhelming betting favorite in the women’s draw, Iga Swiatek, lost to Alize Cornet in the third round. American Coco Gauff, who played Swiatek in the French Open finals, is also out, leaving the women’s draw wide open.

As expected, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are into the quarter-finals in the men’s draw and could potentially meet in the finals in what would be an incredibly exciting and intriguing matchup. It’s time to see to a Wimbledon Betting analysis update and predictions for two great upcoming matches.

Must Wager Quarterfinals Matches, 2022 Wimbledon Betting Favorites, Upsets, Injuries

Updated Men’s Odds

Must Bet Matches

Simona Halep (-225) vs Amanda Anisimova (+175)

The 2019 Wimbledon winner, Simona Halep, has looked as good as ever through four rounds at Wimbledon. She hasn’t lost a set and only lost three games in her second-round victory over Paula Badosa.

Amanda Anisimova, however, has youth on her side at just 20 years old and has been equally as dominant since dropping the first set in her third round win over Gauff. Since then, Anisimova has won 24 of the 32 sets she has played. The young American is a real threat to take down Halep on Wednesday.

Cristian Garin (+300) vs Nick Kyrgios (-400)

The +300 is almost enticing enough to take Garin, who battled through a five-set affair to score a come-from-behind victory over Alex De Minaur. Garin is a great grass court player (it’s his best surface) and has a chance to surprise some people by reaching his first-ever Grand Slam semifinal. However, Kyrgios is playing at a different level this year.

Kyrgios has more grass court wins (11) than any player on the ATP Tour this season and is building momentum at Wimbledon. Expect him to reach his first Grand Slam semi-final.

Upsets

There hasn’t been any real upsets on the men’s draw since early in the tournament, but French Open finalist Carlos Alcaraz lost a four-set match to fellow young gun Jannik Sinner in the fourth round on Sunday.

Swiatek and Gauff, the betting favorites, lost on Friday in the third round. Jelena Ostapenko, who looked to have a clear path to the final, was upset in the fourth round by world No. 103 Tatjana Maria.

Injuries

At this point in the Grand Slam, the players left standing have played at least seven hours of tennis with some playing well over 10 hours. There have been no notable injuries as of yet, but some players are a little banged up.

Kyrgios, for instance, dealt with a hip injury in his third round match and battled through a shoulder injury in his fourth round victory over Brandon Nakashima. He had to receive treatment during changeovers and, at one point, lost about 25 mph on his serve. He rebounded in the fifth set, however, and appears healthy heading into his quarter-final match.
