Over the past few seasons, the NFC East has been one of the weakest divisions in the NFL. With the first 2 games of the season coming against the Jaguars and Lions, the Commanders have an opportunity to build some momentum early on. They will get their first real test of the season in Week 3, when they will welcome on the Philadelphia Eagles. If the Commanders have any hopes of making some noise in the division and getting to the playoffs, they need to win their divisional games. This will be a good test to see where they are in terms of the NFC East as a whole.

Week 4 – at Dallas Cowboys

Back-to-back divisional games in the opening month of the season for Washington and arguably the toughest of the bunch comes in Week 4. There are some concerns about the Cowboys heading into the season, but most still see them as the team to beat in the East. If the Commanders can hit the road and come away with a result in this one, we might well be looking at a great battle for top spot all season long.

Week 7 – Vs Green Bay Packers

Playing against divisional foes is one thing, but going against a team that many like to win the Super Bowl is quite another. Any team looking to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl is likely going to need to go through Green Bay at some point, so this game should help the Commanders see if they are in any way a dark horse contender. It certainly helps that they get Rodgers and company at home.

Week 16 – at San Francisco 49ers

Much like the game against the Packers, this one needs to be viewed as something of a measuring stick for the Commanders. After all, the 49ers were one game away from the Super Bowl last season, with many pundits believing that they might actually be better in 2022. About as tough a road game as Washington could ask for here, and one that they might well need to win to be part of the playoff picture.

Week 18 – Vs Dallas Cowboys

When putting together these previews, I usually try to avoid adding the same team twice. The reality, though, is that this division race might well be a tight one, so these games are huge. Could we possible be heading into the final week of the season with both of these teams vying for a playoff spot? If that is indeed the case, then this one needs to ne added as a must bet game.
