The schedule for Monday has eight singles matches, four for the women and four for the men. Then the quarterfinals get underway on Tuesday. With the five-set format on the men’s side, matches from this stage on are unlikely to be 3-0 sweeps, so looking at the overs can often be profitable. 

Holger Rune had a crazy five-set match to beat Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the third round to get to his first Wimbledon round of 16. Now he faces Grigor Dimitrov, who had a straight-set win over Frances Tiafoe. That match took parts of two days to complete, with the 21 seed Dimitrov pulling the upset. 

Rune is seeded No. 6 and has made the quarterfinals in the last two French Open tournaments. When he’s lost in grand slams this season, he has won at least one set in the loss, taking Andrey Rublev to a fifth-set tiebreaker in Australia. He doesn’t always win easily either, so looking at the over in this match on Monday is the way to go. 

Must-Bet Wimbledon Singles Fourth Round Matches

At MyBookie, Rune is the underdog at +138 despite being the better seed. On the tennis odds, Dimitrov is -163, and the over 40.5 games is -110. The over is the smart bet, as this one should go at least four sets, and one tiebreak puts the total right at the over. 

Another match with tantalizing games total for this round is the women’s match between top-10 seeds Ons Jabeur and Petra Kvitova. Jabeur made the finals at Wimbledon last summer, and Kvitova won the event in both 2011 and 2014. 

The No. 6 seed, Jabeur, had to go three sets last round to knock off Bianca Andreescu. She isn’t a power player and relies more on her endurance, shot placement, and creativity. Kvitova is the No. 9 seed and played a three-set match in round one before winning 6-3, 7-5 in round three. 

Kvitova is the favorite at -140 at MyBookie for tennis betting. Jabeur is +110, and the total number of games is over 22.5. If Jabeur wins, this match is very likely going three sets, so the over 22.5 at -107 is a strong bet, with Jabeur winning as the underdog. 

Wimbledon Top 3 Odds

ATP Signles:
On the men’s side, the top three are still alive as far as future odds go. Novak Djokovic is the favorite as the No. 2 seed, and he is -219 to win yet another grand slam. The top seed, Carlos Alcaraz, is +340, and he won’t face Djokovic until the final. Jannik Sinner is +950, and while he has an unseeded opponent in the quarterfinals, the Italian could face Djokovic in the semifinals. 

WTA Singles:
On the women’s side, the top three seeds are still in the tournament. Top seed Iga Swiatek survived a scare from Belinda Bencic in the round of 16, but she is through to the quarterfinals. The French Open champion has never made it this far at Wimbledon but is the favorite at +127, and she will face wild card Elina Svitolina in her next match. The only seeded player left in her half of the draw is No. 4 Jess Pegula.

Defending champion Elena Rybakina is the No. 3 seed, and she is +265 to repeat. Rybakina got a gift in the round of 16 when her opponent retired due to injury in the first set, and she will face the Jabeur/Kvitova winner in the quarters. Aryna Sabalenka, the Australian Open champion, is the No. 2 seed at +530 to win it all. If she wins on Monday, Sabalenka faces No. 25 Madison Keys in the quarters before a potential showdown with Rybakina.

Zverev Beats Sandgren in Straight Sets

One of the main betting favorites to win the 2021 Wimbledon, Alexander Zverev beat Tennys Sandgren in straight sets to advance into the tournament’s third round. It marked Zverev’s second 3-0 victory at Wimbledon after the German tennis star swept Tallon Griekspoor (3-0) on Tuesday.

The match between Zverev and Sandgren lasted for barely 1:47 hours, although it wasn’t like Zverev had smooth sailing to his straight-set victory. The two went back and forth in the first set, with world no.68 securing leads only to see Zverev take it away from him.

The back-and-forth lasted for 12 games, with Zverev eventually edging out a 7-5 victory. The next two sets proved to be much easier on the German, who won with 6-2 and 6-3, thus secured another commanding victory en route to his first Grand Slam title.

Despite his success thus far, Zverev has yet to make it further than R4 in Wimbledon, having reached that feat in 2017. He had since crashed out of R3 in 2018 and R1 in 2019.

For Sandgren, this marks his second R1 exit from Wimbledon, having reached R4 in 2019. That year, he got eliminated by his compatriot Sam Querrey (4-6, 7-6, 6-7, 6-7).

Rogers Stuns Sakkari

Shelby Rogers stunned world no.18 Maria Sakkari on Thursday when she beat the 2021 French Open semi-finalist with 2-0. It was a close affair between the two; however, Rogers always seemed to be a step ahead of the 25-year-old Greek.

Sakkari and Rogers exchanged punches in the first set, passing the lead to one another until Rogers found the needed strength to edge out a close 7-5 victory. 

The second set proved to be just as exciting and tight, but once again, it was Rogers who had a slight edge. She found her footing in the seventh game when she grabbed the lead (4-3) and extended it to 5-3. Sakkari showed some resistance and reduced the gap to 4-5, but eventually fell flat as she lost 4-6.

This marks Sakkari’s fifth early elimination from Wimbledon, where she has never made it past R3. On the other side, Shelby Rogers is now only one win away from reaching R4, which would mark her career-best placement on the English grass court.

Rogers will face off against world no.20 Elena Rybakina on Friday, July 2, for a spot in the 1/8 finals.

Bautista-Augut Squeezes Into R3

Roberto Bautista-Agut needed 3:41 hours to edge past Miomir Kecmanovic (3-2) on Thursday, July 1, in what was billed as a one-sided affair. The 33-year-old veteran entered the match as a heavy favorite, priced around -300, but struggled to justify his tag as the man to beat.

World no.10 took the lead with two 6-3 sets but faced tough resistance from the 21-year-old Serbian, who stole the third set with 7-6. 

Kecmanovic carried over the momentum into the fourth round, beating Bautista-Agut with 6-3, and seemed set to steal the win.

However, things didn’t go as planned. Agut and Kecmanovic looked evenly matched in the final set of the day and found themselves tied at 3-3, at which point Agut shifted into a higher gear and strung together three games to win the set 6-3.

Having reached R3 of Wimbledon, Roberto Bautista Agut is now just a few steps away from securing his best placement at All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club. In 2019, he reached the semi-finals but got eliminated by the eventual champion Novak Djoković.

To no one’s surprise, Day 2 of 2021 Wimbledon has produced quite a few memorable moments, and while some of those include top-rated players showing off their skill, we have also seen a few upsets. No.5 Seed Andreescu is Out!

The fifth-seeded Bianca Andreescu has been eliminated from 2021 Wimbledon by world no.58 Alize Cornet, who beat the Canadian tennis star in straight sets with 6-2, 6-1. It marked one of the biggest upsets of the day and Andreescu’s second Wimbledon R1 exit in her career.

Andreescu started the match strongly and took a 1-0 lead in the first set, dropped the next point, and retook the lead with 2-1. At that point, Cornet found her footing and strung together five consecutive points to seal the first set of the match with a commanding 6-2 victory.

Things didn’t improve in the second set for the Canadian no.1, who struggled to keep up with the French, who didn’t need long to secure a 4-0 lead. Andreescu showed some resistance and reduced the gap to 1-4, but was unable to close the deal and lost the second set with 1-6.

Although Cornet was viewed as a formidable opponent, she stunned the tennis world with her commanding win. She is now through to the next round at Wimbledon, having never made it past R4, and failed to reach further than R1 since 2016.

Linette Reverse-Sweeps Anisimova

Magda Linette reverse swept Amanda Anisimova with 2-1 on Wednesday to edge past world no.81 and straight into the second round at 2021 Wimbledon. Linette entered the match as a +175 underdog, which made sense due to her lack of success on the English grass courts.

In five trips to Wimbledon, the Pole made it out of the first round only once (2019, R3) and has struggled to achieve much on grass courts, where she holds a 45% win rate. On the other hand, Anisimova has proven herself a solid grass-court player with a 54% win rate.

On that day, however, it was Linette who was as a more efficient grass player. The Pole lost the first set 2-6, but quickly bounced back with a commanding 6-3 win to the match at 1-1.

She carried over the momentum into the final set, where she took a 3-0 lead, dropped the fourth game, and closed out the deal with 6-1 to round up her reverse-sweep victory.

It marked Linette’s second head-to-head victory against Anisimova, who she beat in the 13/2 finals of 2019 Wimbledon.

Pella Eliminated by Berretti

The Argentinian 2019 Wimbledon quarter-finalist Guido Pella has been eliminated by a six-year younger Matteo Berrettini, who won hit opening Wimbledon fixture 3-1.

Berretti was expected to do well but soon met resistance from the experienced Argentine. The two went back-and-forth in the first set, with Berretti eventually edging out a 6-4 victory.

The second set belonged to Pella, who outclassed Berretti with 6-3 but was unable to keep up with the Italian as fatigue started to set in. Pella started the third set strong and kept Berrettini at 4-4 before losing the next two games.

Berrettini did not need long to seal the deal, he closed out the four-set fixture with a clean 6-0, for which he needed barely 23 minutes. With this win, Berrettini made it to the second round of Wimbledon for the third time in his career.

In his debut year, Berrettini made it to the second round and improved upon that by reaching R4 in 2019, when he got eliminated by the eventual finalist Roger Federer (1-6, 2-6, 2-6).

We are into the fourth round at Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tennis event of the year and the only major championship played on grass. Here’s a look at Monday matches involving the two tournament favorites on the men’s side, top-seeded Novak Djokovic and No. 2 Roger Federer, along with the latest Wimbledon odds.

2019 Wimbledon Odds, Preview & Picks for Men’s Round of 16

No. 1 Novak Djokovic vs. Ugo Humbert

2019 Wimbledon Odds: Djokovic -9999 / Humbert +1115

Humbert is a 21-year-old Frenchman whose trip to the fourth round is his best-ever result in a Grand Slam tournament. He already has upsets in this tournament of the likes of Gael Monfils and Felix Auger-Aliassime and will take a huge jump when the new ATP rankings are released as Humbert was No. 61.

To reach the fourth round, Humbert knocked off Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 in two hours and nine minutes last Friday. Humbert had never advanced past the second round of a Grand Slam. He is the 43rd man in the Open Era to make the Round of 16 at the grass-court major on his debut. In the first round, the lefty moved to 2-0 against Top 20 opposition when Gael Monfils retired down 0-3 in the fifth set in their battle, which Monfils led two sets to none.

Just a year ago, Humbert was ranked No. 290 and playing an ITF Pro Circuit event in France. Since then, he’s won four ATP Challenger Tour titles and finished runner-up in three others. This match will be his first-ever against a Top 10 opponent.

Djokovic, a four-time Wimbledon champion, beat 22-year-old Hubert Hurkacz to advance. The Serb won 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-4 and returned to the Round of 16 at The Championships for the 12th time. Djokovic tied Boris Becker for third place in the Open Era for most Round of 16 appearances at Wimbledon, trailing only Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer (16).

For two sets, Hurkacz gave Djokovic all he could handle, but Djokovic took advantage of a lull in Hurkacz’s level to start the third and broke once in the fourth set as Hurkacz never retained the same level he brought in the opening two sets. Djokovic cruised to the finish line, winning over 60 percent of the total points in the final two sets.

This is the first-ever meeting between Humbert and Djokovic.

No. 2 Roger Federer vs. No. 17 Matteo Berrettini

Of course, Federer has won this tournament a record eight times. He’s a -909 favorite against the Italian Berrettini (+503). Federer advanced with a straight-sets win over No. 27 Lucas Pouille.

Federer was pushed early in his third-round match and in danger of dropping the first set for the second time this tournament. But one 10-minute surge was all the 37-year-old Swiss needed to take control of the match move into the second week at The Championships for the 17th time.

Federer defeated Australian Open semifinalist Pouille 7-5, 6-2, 7-6(4), becoming the first player in history to earn 350 Grand Slam singles wins. He is also the first man in the Open Era to reach the fourth round at Wimbledon 17 times, breaking a tie with Jimmy Connors.

The biggest moment of the match came at 5-5 in the first set, when Pouille earned a breakpoint that, if converted, would have allowed him to serve for the opener. Federer used two overhead smashes to stave off that chance, and never looked back from there, winning the next six games to take a commanding lead. Federer appears on a collision course in the semifinals with rival Rafael Nadal, who also plays Monday. Nadal has not won the Wimbledon title since 2010.

Berrettini defeated No. 24 seed Diego Schwartzman in a five-set thriller. Federer has said that he doesn’t know Berrettini very well but added that it bodes well to see the newer, younger talents playing well on Tour.

“So that makes it a bit more tricky, as well. I saw him play a little bit in Halle. Saw his run, of course, in Stuttgart. Now he’s backing it up here again. That’s not easy to do, especially when you’re sort of newer on the Tour,” Federer said.

The Italian has been one of the surprise stories of the grass-court season, winning 11 of his 12 matches to date. Berrettini boasts wins over Nick Kyrgios, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Karen Khachanov (twice). Berrettini has gotten pointers from Craig O’Shannessy who also works as Novak Djokovic’s strategy analyst. The 23-year-old has climbed from outside the top-50 to inside the top-20 in the last three months and his rapid rise has coincided with the deployment of tactics expert O’Shannessy behind the scenes.

Berrettini is a tall guy and he possesses a huge serve. He blasted 22 aces against Schwartzman, 16 against Marcos Baghdatis and 19 against Ajlaz Bedene in the previous rounds. It’s the first ever-meeting between Berrettini and Federer.
