For the first few weeks of the 2021 NFL season, the Arizona Cardinals looked like the best team in the league. After a 7-0 start, they finished the first 12 games at 10-2. They finished the season at 11-6 and made the playoffs. They lost in the wild card round to their NFC West rival and the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Los Angeles Rams.
The Cardinals now hope that their franchise has finally turned the corner, and they’ll be a playoff team for years to come. They’re looking forward to the 2022 season. The NFC West will still be loaded, but the Cardinals think that they have a team good enough to contend for the division title. It’s time to take a peek at what lies ahead for the Cardinals so you can bet against their NFL Team Totals odds.
A Sneak Peek at the 2022 Arizona Cardinals | NFL Betting
The Oddsmakers have Spoken!
While Arizona is confident that they’ll be a playoff team, the oddsmakers aren’t so sure. They have set the Cardinals win total at 9.5. In looking at their schedule, they do have a lot of tough games, as they have to play the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers twice. They open the season playing three playoff teams from 2021, as they host the Kansas City Chiefs, head to Las Vegas to play the Raiders, and then they host the Rams.
In looking at the middle portion of the Cardinals schedule not only will they see some divisional foes, but they’ll also have to contend with the New Orleans Saints and the Los Angeles Chargers. At the tail end of the 2022 campaign, dates with the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos await the Cardinals. They will also clash with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They’ll close their season out with an important division game with the San Francisco 49ers.
This is a very difficult schedule, and the Cardinals will more than likely need to win at least 10 games if they want to make it into the playoffs. Right now, they’re predicted to finish third in their division behind the Rams and the 49ers.
2022 Team Preview
While most of their core players are returning, Arizona did lose a few key pieces. One of the best pass rushers in the league, linebacker Chandler Jones, left as a free agent. Linebacker Jordan Hicks also left. Wide receiver Christian Kirk left for Jacksonville, but other than those three, most of the team returns.
Arizona traded away their first-round pick to obtain wide receiver Hollywood Brown from the Baltimore Ravens. Brown will replace Kirk. We’ll be anxious to see what Brown can do in a pass-oriented offense. The Cardinals are hoping that JJ Watt will be healthy for most of the season, and they’ll have tight end Zach Ertz for a full season.
Arizona’s success will more than likely depend upon the growth of Kyler Murray. If Murray shows that he’s ready to become one of the league’s elite quarterbacks, then the Cardinals will contend for the Super Bowl. If Murray plays like he did late last season, Arizona will be lucky to make the playoffs. We’ll see what Murray does, and if he’s ready to be one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
