Betting 2024 BMW Championship | Know the Basics
The top golfers in the world will get together at the BMW Championship this weekend.
Denver’s Castle Pines Golf Club is the host of the event.
The par 70 course is over 7,300 yards.
The prize fund for this event is at $20M.
Last season, Viktor Hovland came away as the winner.
Both Patrick Cantlay and Bryson DeChaumbeau are the tournament record holders, as they went -27 in 2021.
This event hosts the Top 70 players and there is no 36 hole cut.
The top 30 in the FedEx cup standings following this event head to the Tour Championship.
Take a look at the BMW Championship Odds, with Top 3 and Final Pick.
Writer’s Top 3 Picks for the Next BMW Championship
Scottie Scheffler +330
The top player in the world finished fourth last weekend in Memphis.
For many, it felt like a bad weekend for Scheffler.
But, a pair of 66’s and a 65 for the weekend, he still is playing great golf.
Scheffler will be the leader heading into next weekend, which also makes him the favorite there as well.
Scheffler has a chance to wrap up an incredible 2024 season.
Xander Schauffele +550
Schauffele was really strong once again.
Most of his damage came on the final day.
In what looked like a weekend where he had no chance, he shot a 63 on the final day and tied for second.
That is vintage Schauffele. He can go low when he wants and needs two.
With two major titles on the season, a win here or in the Tour Championship would be icing on the cake.
Rory Mcllroy +1200
Rory comes into the event fifth in the FedEx Cup standings.
He is just behind Collin Morikawa, and last week Matsuyama surged ahead.
The Northern Ireland man would love to keep that fifth spot.
He was not good in Memphis.
After an opening day 68, he went downhill quickly.
He went with 73 and back to back 74’s to finish the event.
He will have to turn things around quickly as this course in Denver is not going to make it easy for him.
Rory is listed at 12/1 odds to win the BMW Championship.
Others in Consideration:
- Collin Morikawa +1600
- Patrick Cantlay +1800
- Hideki Matsuyama +1800
- Viktor Hovland +1800
- Ludvig Aberg +2200
- Tommy Fleetwood +2500
- Wyndham Clark +300
- Tony Finau +3300
- Sam Burns +3500
2024 BMW Championship Final Betting Picks
When we go to make our picks the first bet we are going to make is Tommy Fleetwood at +2500.
Fleetwood is actually 31st in the FedEx Cup standings right now.
A good week should get him in next weekend. A win definitely would.
Look for a motivated Fleetwood, and his odds at +2500 are too good to pass up.
Our second pick is Tony Finau at +3300. Finau is safe at 14th in the standings.
But, a chance to move into the Top 10 is on the line.
He is 107 points behind 10th place right now. A big weekend could get him there.
Finau is talented, and due. We like his odds, and will be one to make a pick on for this event.

Previous Betting News
The last stop before the TOUR Championship begins this week when the top 50 golfers remaining tee it up at the BMW Championship. The penultimate FedEx Cup event takes place at Olympia Fields Country Club just outside of Chicago in Olympia Fields, Illinois. Tournament play begins on Thursday, August 17th, and ends on August 20th.
Patrick Cantlay is a back-to-back winner of the event, the last two tournaments taking place at Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland in 2021 and Wilmington Country Club in Delaware last season. Last year’s victory was a one-shot triumph over Scott Stallings.
Like last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship, the tournament purse has increased to $20 million, with the winner taking home $3.6 million of the total prize money. The top 30 players following the conclusion of this week’s event will advance to East Lake for the TOUR Championship.
That said, let’s take a closer look at the upcoming BMW Championship tournament so you can bet against the PGA betting lines.

BMW Championship | 125th edition of the BMW Championship: Penultimate FedEx Cup playoff event on the PGA Tour schedule
Thursday, August 17th – Sunday August 20th, 2023
Olympia Fields Country Club, Olympia Fields, Illinois
Olympia Fields Country Club
Olympia Fields Country Club hosts the BMW Championship for the first the second time in four seasons. Tournament play will take place on the venue’s North Course, which plays as a par-70 and measures over 7,300 yards. Designed by two-time Open Champion Willie Park Jr., the course is consistently ranked as one of the top tracks in the United States.
Showcasing significant elevation changes and numerous native trees, the course presents a considerable challenge for Tour pros. Water comes into play on eight of the 18 holes on the property as well as featuring 90+ strategically placed bunkers.
TThe BMW Championship Field
The field is tightening up with the field down to the top 50 players on the PGA Tour. The top three players in the FedEx Cup standings remain the same as they did heading into last week’s first playoff event, with Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, and Rory McIlroy holding the top spots.
Two players used a solid week in Memphis to jump inside the top 50 and are in the field this week. Cam Davis (45) and Hideki Matsuyama (47) ascended into the top 50 thanks to a T6 for Davis and T16 for Matasuyama.
Eric Cole is the only PGA Tour rookie to advance to the BMW Championship, sitting 42nd heading into this week.
BMW Championship Betting Favorites
McIlroy (+710) is the betting favorite heading into Thursday’s first round as the 24-time PGA Tour winner aims for his fourth and second-consecutive FedEx Cup title. McIlroy has finished inside the top 10 in eight-straight events dating back to late May.
Scheffler (+760) sits just behind Rory as The PLAYERS champion looks to capture his first FedEx Cup Playoff victory of his career. Rahm (+920) is third in line, hoping to get back into the winner’s circle for the first time since slipping on the green jacket in April.
Cantlay (+1025) can win the BMW Championship for the third year and third different course. The 31-year-old lost to Lucas Glover last week in a playoff at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
The final two betting favorites are Viktor Hovland and Xander Schauffele (+1650). Hovland finished T13 in Memphis, while Schauffele settled for a T24.
