2024 Cognizant Classic | 52nd edition of the Cognizant Classic – The Honda Classic
PGA Tour tournament
Monday, February 29th – Saturday, March 3rd, 2024
PGA National Resort and Spa, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
2023 PGA Winner: Chris Kirk

Cognizant Classic Venue

This venue has been the designated course for the event since 2007, having previously been held at the Country Club at Mirasol, also located in Palm Beach Gardens, just outside Miami.

Throughout its history, this tournament has undergone various name changes. From 2002 to 2023, it was known as The Honda Classic. The recent shift to the Cognizant Classic reflects the sponsorship change.

Draw Breakdown

Justin Leonard holds the course record, achieving an impressive -24 under par in 2003. Last season, Chris Kirk emerged as the victor, while Sepp Straka claimed the title in the preceding season. Since Jack Nicklaus picked up back-to-back wins in 1977 and 1978 at the Jackie Gleason-Iverrary Classic, no golfer has achieved this accomplishment since. Let’s take a look at the 2024 Cogizant Classic:

Top 3 Betting Odds in Cognizant Classic:

Rory McIlroy +700

As we dive into the updated odds for the 2024 Cognizant Classic, Rory McIlroy stands out as the frontrunner with favorable +700 odds. Currently ranked as the world’s second-best golfer, the 34-year-old Northern Irishman recently finished tied 24th position at the Riviera Country Club during the Genesis Invitational. When you look at all the different golf statistics – it shows his consistent status as an elite performer, which is why he is the favorite at this South Florida event!

Cameron Young +2200

In the golf rankings, Cameron Young holds an interesting position, trailing just behind Justin Thomas and leading the way for Tony Finau with +2200 odds. Hailing from New York and 26 years old, Young worked on his skills in college at Wake Forest before joining the professional tour in 2019. His recent performance includes a tie for 16th at the Genesis Invitational and a Top 10 finish at the WM Phoenix Open. Known for his ability to heat up quickly, Young presents an interesting contender to watch, especially given his attractive +2200 odds.

Russell Henley +2500

Entering the Cognizant Classic, Russell Henley sits comfortably within the Top 30 in the PGA Tour rankings. A seasoned American golfer from Georgia, Henley brings over a dozen years of experience on the tour. His ties with McIlroy at the Genesis, finishing in 24th place, reflect his consistent performance. The season started on a high note for Henley with a fourth-place finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii, earning him nearly $400,000 in winnings. As the season progresses, he has already earned over $500,000, showcasing a strong start to his 2024 season. At +2500, he will look to build on that here.

Cognizant Classic Final Betting Prediction

There are some really interesting odds for this event. We are really excited about this event. But, when push comes to shove, it is hard to ignore how good at the game of golf Rory Mcllroy really is. Yes, he is the favorite, but even his favorite odds here seem too good to pass up. Sure, there are other guys that taking on a flier would pay out more, but are they going to be able to beat Mcllroy. Our first bet for the event is Rory McIlroy at 7/1 odds.

We will also throw two other picks out at you for this event. The first is Daniel Berger at +3500. Sure, Berger has not had the success he has wanted so far in 2024, but the veteran knows how to get through tough times on the golf course. Berger was decent in the WM Phoenix Open, finishing tied for 28th. He did miss the cut at Torrey Pines, but before that was -17 at the American Express. Berger at +3500 seems like a bargain it would be tough to miss out on.

The final bet we are going to make is not even on the list of odds to win the Cognizant Classic. This one goes to 48 year old Zach Johnson. Sure, the former Iowa golfer has seen his better days on the course, but he can still find heaters. Johnson has been on the PGA Tour since 2018, and actually has played decent golf over his last two events. He made the cut at Phoenix, and was consistent with the young pups and the loud crowd. Before that, he went 62-69-68-70 for a 25th place finish at the American Express. You can grab Zach Johnson at +35000, and why not?

Looking Forward on the Tour

As the spring starts to hit around the country, the events will head out, as we prepare for the first major of the season. Next weekend, the golfers will head to the Arnold Palmer’s Bay HilL Club and Lodge in Florida. Other golfers will head to Puerto Rico. Then, staying in Florida, the middle of the month features The PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP, which will take place at TPC Sawgrass. The final two events in March are the Valspar in Copperhead Florida, and then they head to Texas for the Texas Children’s Houston Open.

In April, the golfers will start in San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open. Next week is the Masters at Augusta National in Georgia. That will serve as the first major event of the season. The PGA Championship is slated for May 16-19th in Kentucky.

The 2023 Honda Classic Odds, Picks, and PGA Betting Analysis

Previous Betting News

After back-to-back tournaments with $20 million purses, the PGA Tour quiets down a bit this week with The Honda Classic at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. There’s only $8.4 million up for grabs this weekend, and, as a result, fewer top-ranked players have committed to the tournament. Still, it’s a decent field for a mid-February event.

There’s no Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, or even Justin Thomas. In fact, none of the world’s top-10 golfers are in Florida this weekend. This presents an opportunity for otherwise talented players – Sungjae Im, Shane Lowry, Aaron Wise, and Cameron Davis – to win their first event of the season. Check out MyBookie’s Golf betting odds for this Tournament.

The Honda Classic Betting Predictions and Favorites Odds | PGA Tour Lines

Can Sungjae Im Win Again?

Sungjae Im is the betting favorite at +900 this weekend, and for good reason. The Korean golfer won the Honda Classic in 2020 with a 6-under par, one stroke ahead of Canadian Mackenzie Hughes. Im shot a fourth-round score of 66 to win the tournament in 2020.

Im is easily the player with the biggest profile in the tournament this year. He’s 18th in the Official World Golf Rankings and is a two-time winner on the PGA Tour. He’s made eight of nine cuts this season and has five top-25 finishes.

Im finished T56th at The Genesis Invitational last weekend, but was T6th at the Waste Management Phoenix Open the week prior. He’s one of a handful of players playing in their third tournament in three weeks, so fatigue could be an issue – you’re better off fading Im this weekend.

Why You Should Bet on Matt Kuchar

At +2500, Matt Kuchar is tied for the third-shortest odds to win the Honda. That means a successful $100 bet would return $2,500, which is much more than what a typical bet on the golfer with the third-shortest odds would pay out. That isn’t the only reason to wager on the 44-year-old American.

Kuchar is coming off of an eighth-place finish at the Genesis last weekend with a final score of 10-under par, including a 67 in his final round, meaning he’ll come into this weekend with plenty of confidence. He’s also one of the more experienced players this weekend.

Longshot Bet

If you’re looking for good value further down the list of favorites, consider placing a small bet on Sepp Straka (+5500). The Austrian hasn’t had the greatest start to the year, but he’s actually the defending champion. Straka shot 10-under par last year, defeating Shane Lowry by one stroke.

Straka shot 71-64-69-66 in last year’s event, so he is clearly comfortable playing at the PGA National Resort. After missing the cut in three consecutive events this year, Straka has finished top-10 in two of his last four starts.

PGA Tour 2022 The Honda Classic Odds, Preview and Analysis

Previous Betting News

The 2022 PGA Tour season is off to a hot start, and we continue forward with the Honda Classic this week. Joaquin Niemann ended the streak of first-time winners when he dominated the field at Riviera Country Club.

After back-to-back 63’s to start the week, Niemann was in the driver’s seat heading into the weekend. He would be the wire-to-wire winner.

This week, we head across the country to Florida to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, for the Honda Classic. Let’s look at some of the players to look for this week and possible surprises heading into the tournament so you can bet against the PGA Tour Odds

Golf Betting Preview for The Honda Classic

Course Overview

PGA National Resort and Spa is a Championship level course. It is a Par 70 and a 7,110 total yard course. This course is known for the finishing stretch of holes called the “Bear Trap.” Holes 15,16, and 17 feature two par-3’s with daunting tasks.

Daniel Berger

Daniel Berger is a name that is being mentioned quite frequently this week. Berger is coming off a missed cut at the WM Phoenix Open, and the week before that, he had to withdraw at the AT&T Open at Pebble Beach.

As a Jupiter, Florida native, Berger is very familiar with the area and PGA National Resort and Spa. Looking at the last 24 rounds, Berger has the best strokes gained performance.

Berger has +1600 odds currently for the week at The Honda Classic. Berger would be a smart pick for the week, even with his lack of performance within the last few weeks.

Sung-Jae Im

The 2020 Honda Classic Champion is back and ready to win the event again. Im has the best odds coming into the week with +1000 odds. Currently ranked 24th in the world, Im is coming off a Top-30 week at the Genesis Invitational.

Sung-Jae Im already has two Top-10 finishes this season, the Sentry Tournament of Champions and the Farmers Invitational. At The American Express, Im finished T-11 for the week.

After falling short of defending his title last season, Im is looking to get back to the winner’s circle this week.

Matthew Wolff

Matthew Wolff is a name being thrown around after not playing golf for the last two weeks. His last performance was at the PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers, and he finished T-6 for the week.

Wolff only has three starts this season, one being a missed cut and the other was a 64th place finish at the Farmers Insurance Open. Wolff is a big name to bet on at +3500 odds for the week to win.

Matt Jones

Matt Jones is our last player to watch, and Jones is the reigning champion here at the Honda Classic. Jones is coming off a good week at the Genesis Invitational, where he finished T-15 on the week.

Jones scored a four round total 268 last season to win the tournament. Jones has +5000 odds for the week and would be a good bet to defend his title after a good week at Riviera Country Club.

Previous Betting News

With world No. 3 Justin Thomas fresh off a thrilling win at last weekend’s Player’s Championship, the PGA Tour remains in Florida for one final stop on this year’s docket. The 2021 Honda Classic gets underway on Thursday, March 18 with a modest field that features just four of the world’s Top-25 players.

Fun-filled fact. The seven highest-ranked players this week all hail from different countries. Sungjae Im, Joaquin Niemann, Daniel Berger, Lee Westwood, Adam Scott, Shane Lowry and Mackenzie Hughes will all be going for the momentum-boosting win with the 2021 Masters just three weeks out. Now, let’s find out which golfers are looking good against their PGA odds.

PGA Tour The 2021 Honda Classic Betting Preview

Odds To Win 2021 Honda Classic

The Top 5 Picks To Win

Chris Kirk

76th in the official golf world rankings, Chris Kirk has recorded five Top-25 finishes in 11 events this season while recording a pair of Top-10 finishes. The 35-year-old Georgia native has finished T8 and T48 in his last two events at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and last week’s Player’s Championship. Kirk ranks an encouraging 23rd in scoring average (70.3) while ranking an identical 61st in G.I.R and driving accuracy. Kirk is playing well right now and I believe he’ll be in the mix for the win.

Daniel Berger

In 10 events this season, the 27-year-old Floridian has recorded six Top-25 finishes and four Top-10 finishes. Berger finished T9 at last week’s Player’s Championship after winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am and finishing T35 in the WGC-Workday Championship in his two previous events. In his last seven appearances, Berger has recorded a stellar five, Top-10 finishes. Berger ranks 27th in greens-in-regulation, 21st in eagles (97.7), 12th in birdie average (4.58) and 15th in scoring average (70.0). Berger, who is 15th in the official golf world rankings, should easily be in the mix for the win.

Talor Gooch

82nd in the official golf world rankings, the 29-year-old Oklahoma native finished an impressive T5 at last week’s Player’s Championship. Gooch finished T43 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and T12 at the Genesis Invitation in his two previous tournaments, so he’s playing well. In 14 events this season Gooch has recorded five Top-25 finishes and three Top-10 finishes.

Gooch has the sixth-best strokes-gained number of anyone in this field since the start of the 2021 calendar year.

Lee Westwood

Westwood might be 47-years-old, but you’d never know it from the way he’s been playing lately. 19th in the official golf world rankings, the sweet-swinging Englishman comes into this event fresh off a pair of stunning – and identical – second place finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and last weekend’s Players’ Championship. In seven events this season, Westwood has three Top-25 finishes. Point blank, I like Westwood to really challenge for the win!

Sungjae Im

18th in the official golf world rankings, 22-year-old Sungjae Im looks like a definite contender for the win. In a whopping 16 events this season, the South Korean has recorded eight Top-25 finishes and a pair of Top-10 finishes. Im has finished T32 or better in six straight events including a solid T17 finish at last week’s Player’s Championship. Im is 26th in birdie average (4.37) and 22nd in scoring average (70.3). Im is overdue for a win and I believe it could happen this weekend.

2020 The Honda Classic Golf Tournament Preview

Previous Betting News

On Thursday, some of the best golfers on the planet head to the PGA National Champions Course for The Honda Classic Golf Tournament. The Honda Classic pits Tommy Fleetwood against Brooks Koepka and Rickie Fowler. What are the chances of those favorites playing well at the Palm Beach Gardens course? Are there any underdog golfers worth considering? And, which tournament matchups should be on your radar? Check out golf odds and analysis for The Honda Classic!

2020 The Honda Classic Golf Tournament

  • When: Feb 27 – March 1
  • Where: PGA National Champions Course, Palm Beach Gardens, FL
  • TV: Golf Channel

Which golfer has the best shot of winning The Honda Classic? Tommy Fleetwood, Brooks Koepka, or Rickie Fowler?

Last week, Tommy Fleetwood shot a decent -6 at the WGC-Mexico Championship. Fleetwood has played decent golf. But the reason he’s favored over Fowler and Koepka is that those two haven’t shown winning form.

Fowler and Koepka finished tied for second in 2019 The Honda Classic. Fowler hasn’t played in a tournament since late January and early February. He finished thirty-seventh at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Before that tournament, Rickie failed to make the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Brooks hasn’t played since mid-February. He finished forty-third at the Genesis Invitational. Before that, Koepka withdrew from the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges. Going back to his first tournament played this PGA Season, Brooks missed the cut at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

This could be a turnaround event for Koepka. Although he could shoot well, he might not shoot well enough for a Top 5 finish. Brooks could need a tournament or two before getting back to his best form.

Rickie, on the other hand, might be sitting on a victory. After a 74 first-round in Phoenix, Fowler shot a 65-69-69. He bounced back to get into the Top 40. Rickie could improve off that performance. If you’re looking to back chalk, think Rickie Fowler.

Which golfer between +2000 to +2800 odds has the best chances of winning The Honda Classic?

Gary Woodland shot a +1 in 2019 The Honda Classic. But he brings decent form into this year’s tournament. Woodland finished twelfth at last week’s WGC-Mexico Championship after a 70-69-65-71. Gary also offers decent odds. He can get it done this week.

What is the best golfer to consider backing at odds of +3300 to +5500?

Like Woodland, Daniel Berger shot a +1 at last year’s tournament. Berger is in better form than Woodland, though. He finished ninth at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. He followed that terrific performance up with a fifth at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Berger offers overlay odds at +3300. His odds should be in the +2000 to +2800 range. So, if you back him, rest assured you’re getting better than fair odds.

Consider these 3 PGA Tournament Matchups for 2020 The Honda Classic

Justin Rose +105
Gary Woodland -125

Woodland is the play. Rose finished fifty-sixth at the Genesis Invitational. He missed the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open. Gary should beat Justin in the head-to-head.

Tommy Fleetwood -125
Rickie Fowler +105

Take the above even money odds on Fowler. Rickie has played well enough to challenger for the win. Not only that but he finished tied for second last year. Fleetwood is in good enough form to beat Fowler straight up. But we must lay -125 compared to getting +105 on Rickie.

Tommy Fleetwood -125
Brooks Koepka +105

We’re asking a lot for Koepka to turn his form around. Still, if any golfer can turn it on like the flip of a switch, it’s Brooks Koepka. Go ahead and back Koepka against Fleetwood.

2019 Honda Classic Odds, Predictions & Picks

Previous Betting News

Okay golf betting faithful…with the 2019 Honda Classic tournament getting underway on Thursday at 6:45 AM ET. ET, live from The PGA National Resort and Spa outside of West Palm Beach, Florida, you’re going to have a bunch of great chances to cash in with a potentially winning wager.

This year’s event, which rewards 500 FedEx Cup points to the winner, features 144 of the world’s best golfers all looking to find their way into the winner’s circle in an star-studded event whose purse totals a cool $6.8 million.

Defending champion, Justin Thomas has been listed as the prohibitive favorite at 5-1, with Rickie Fowler, the 2017 winner of this event, listed at 10-1. Three-time major winner Brooks Koepka is tied with Fowler at 10-1 odds with 2017 champ Adam Scott, a 16-1 pick.

With the weather forecast predicting midday showers on Thursday and Friday, let’s get down to the business of predicting the top seven players that look like they’re going to have the best chances of anyone to win this event.

2019 Honda Classic Odds, Predictions & Picks

  • When: Thursday, Feb. 28 – Sunday, Mar. 3
  • Where: PGA National — Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
  • TV: Golf Channel

7 For the Win!

Here are my top seven picks to win the 2019 Honda Classic…in order!

Gary Woodland

Not only did Woodland finish T2 behind Rickie Fowler two years ago, but the still underrated golfer has been playing some outstanding golf for quite some time now as evidenced by his quartet of Top 20 finishes in his last four events, including a second place finish at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January. Woodland ranks a stellar third in birdies per round (5.14) and second in GIR (76.3%).

Brooks Koepka

World No. 4 Brooks Koepka hasn’t finished inside the Top 25 in four Honda Classic appearances, but the 28-year-old hails from West Palm Beach and he’s just too talented to not challenge in what is essentially a home tourney for him. Koepka finished 27th at last week’s WGC-Mexico Championship.

Justin Thomas

The defending champ and current World No. 3 has recorded an impressive four Top 10 finishes in five starts this calendar year, including a second place finish in the Genesis Open and a course-record 62 at the WGC-Mexico Championship last weekend. Thomas is on fire right now – and that means he’s going to have a great chance to go back-to-back in this one!

Rickie Fowler

Fowler has a pair of Top 5 finishes in five events this calendar year, including a win at the Waste Management Open to start the month of February. While Fowler finished 36t at last weekend’s WGC-Mexico Championship he did manage to win this event in 2017 Fowler is fifth in average birdies per round (5.0) and that stat means he’s going to challenge for the win!

Adam Scott

Adam Scott hasn’t won an event since 2016, but the 2013 Masters winner is playing well right now, having recorded a pair of Top 10 finishes in his last three events including a second place finish at the Farmers at the end of January and a seventh place finish at the Genesis Open two weeks ago.  Scott ranks a solid 43rd in birdies per round (4.33) and an even more impressive 20th in greens hit in regulation.

Sergio Garcia

Sure, the 39-year-old has never come close to challenging Tiger Woods on a regular basis like many though he would when he made his PGA Tour debut way back in 1999, but right now, the 2017 Masters winner is playing solid golf and looking like a good pick heading into this event after finishing T37 at the Genesis Open and an encouraging T6 at the WGC-Mexico Championship last weekend. Garcia also knows this course, having finished second here to Adam Scott in 2016.

Billy Horschel

Horschel hasn’t missed a cut since the RBC Canadian Open in July and he’s produced five Top-25 finishes in his last seven events, not to mention a pair of Top 10 finishes here in the last three years. Horschel finished 45th in last weekend’s WGC-Mexico Championship and 39th at the Waste Management Open prior to that, but he also finished 25th or better in each of his previous three events. Horschel looks like a good value pick for the upset here.

PGA Betting Preview: 2018 Honda Classic

Previous Betting News

The PGA Tour gets its Florida swing started off on Thursday, February 22-25, when the 2018 Honda Classic gets underway live from PGA National – Champion, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The event got its start all the way back in 1972 when it was known as Jackie Gleason’s Inverrary Classic. Since then, multiple sponsor’s and venues have taken part in the annual tourney before Honda took over in 1984. Let’s take a look at the latest PGA betting odds to win the Honda Classic.

PGA Betting Preview: 2018 Honda Classic

The Favorite

PGA National – Champion will again host the Honda Classic as it has every year since 2010. The layout is one of the more difficult courses to navigate on the PGA Tour and features the “Bear Trap” which consists of a pair of difficult par 3’s and one long par four with water surrounding all three holes. Make no mistake about it golf betting enthusiasts, the Honda Classic makes for some fun-filled drama pretty much, until the last putt is drained.

Last year, American Rickie Fowler led from wire to wire to earn a four-stroke win over Morgan Hoffmann and Gary Woodland. Fowler is one to watch again this year as he excels playing on Bermuda and lives close to the course. Currently ranked seventh in the world, Fowler will take on a world-class field that includes Justin Thomas (No. 4), 2012 Honda champion Rory McIlroy (No. 8), reigning Masters champion Sergio Garcia (No 11), Tommy Fleetwood (No. 12), Tyrell Hatton (No. 15), Alex Noren (No. 16), and Brian Harman (No. 20).

“I didn’t play great,” Fowler said. “It wasn’t a pretty round. But we got the job done. A win is a win.” The Honda victory was Fowler’s fourth on the PGA Tour and sixth overall.

“To do it on that golf course and in those conditions, being windy that day; yeah, I made a couple mistakes but was able to keep fighting through the round,” Fowler said. “It’s one of the toughest golf courses we play, especially in those conditions.

“To hit the shots I needed to at the right time and give myself a cushion to play the last couple holes, it was special. To get the win, basically, at home, a place where I’ve lived for almost seven years now and to be able to celebrate with my friends on Sunday night, it was great.”

Top Contenders

Other notable players that are in this year’s field include 2016 Honda Classic champion Adam Scott, Daniel Berger, Louis Oosthuizen, Thomas Pieters, Webb Simpson, Jhonnattan Vegas, 2014 Honda champ Russell Henley, Jimmy Walker, Jason Dufner, 2015 Honda champion Padraig Harrington, Martin Kaymer, 2011 Honda champion Rory Sabbatini, 2013 Honda champion Michael Thompson, 2006 Honda champion Luke Donald, Retief Goosen, 1999 Honda champion Vijay Singh, Ian Poulter, Stewart Cink and 2010 Honda champion Camilo Villegas.

Fowler had a four-stroke lead slip to one in Sunday’s final round of the 2017 Honda before draining two huge birdie putts to regain control over Gary Woodland, the only player who seriously challenged him down the stretch. Fowler straight drained a huge, 40-foot birdie putt on No. 12 and then an equally impressive 25-footer for birdie on the 13th as his lead reached five shots at one point.

Past champions include Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, Johnny Miller, Hale Irwin, Ernie Els, Adam Scott and Rory McIlroy. The Honda Classic isn’t a major championship but the field features some of the most elite players in the world, including, in 2018, former World No. 1 Tiger Woods.

Gary Woodland won the 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open, held from Feb. 1- 4 while Fowler won the Hero World Challenge last November.

2017 Honda Classic Odds & Betting Picks

Previous Betting News

After spending the first couple of months of the season out on the West Coast, the PGA is now heading east, with the Honda Classic the first tournament on the opposite coast. This is arguably the tournament that where the season starts to kick into high gear, especially since The Masters is now very much visible on the horizon. A field of 144 PGA pros are scheduled to take part, with the event being held at the 7,058-yard Par 70 at PGA National Champion Course, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida from February 23rd to the 26th.

This course is regarded by many as one of the toughest on the PGA Tour, so don’t expect to see a ton of low scores after the 4 rounds have been played. Let’s look at the PGA Tour betting odds favorites, after which I will finish things up with my pick to win.

A Closer Look At The PGA Tour Honda Classic Odds & Betting Picks

Adam Scott (+1000)

The Australian Adam Scott is the current holder of the event, winning it last year with a final score of -9. This is no real surprise given that this is a course that rewards accuracy over distance. Scott led the PGA in greens in regulation last year, which suggests that hos game is suited to the difficulties of this course. Only 3 players have ever won this tournament twice, and you need to go all the way back to 1978 to find a back to back winner, with Jack Nicklaus being the man who did that. History would appear to be against Scott here.

Sergio Garcia (+1500)

Garcia has 3 events already under his belt in the 2017 season, with one top 10 finish already delivered. This is another player who is high on the list in the greens in regulation category, and when he is on his game, he is still one of the best players in the world. This is a nice price for a guy who is sure to be in the mix on Sunday.

Rickie Fowler (+1500)

Fowler already has a pair of top 10 finishes this season, and is boasting an average round score of just over 69. Fowler led the pack after two rounds at this event last year, and he has always performed admirably at this course. If he can close out in the final rounds this time out, expect him to best his 6th place finish of last year.

Louis Oosthuizen (+2500)

The South African is coming off a fine performance at the Waste Management Open in Phoenix Arizona where he finished third and posted a score of -16. He has played 3 tournaments this season and had shot under par in all of them, with his final score improving with each progressive tournament. He is one to watch here, and is my pick to win.

Russell Knox (+2500)

The Scotsman has been a busy lad, playing in 6 tournaments so far in the 2017 season. He was top 25 in 5 of the 6 events, and has already racked up over a million dollars in earnings for the season. I still see him as a longshot to win this one, but a top 10 finish seems to be in his future.

With the PGA Tour set to switch coasts this week as they go from sunny California to the Sunshine State of Florida, pro golf betting enthusiasts everywhere are gearing up for what looks like an exciting tournament that is offering a bunch of value – if you know where to look! The 2016 Honda Classic and its famed “Bear Trap” awaits the majority of the world’s best golfers when it gets underway on the Champion Course at the PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida from February 25-28, 2016. Now, let’s take a look at the odds for a handful of the top favorites, starting with favorites, Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler.

Best PGA Picks To Win the Honda Classic

1. Rory McIlroy – 11/2

McIlroy is the betting favorite to win the 2016 Honda Classic this week at 11/2 odds despite the fact that he just shot an uninspiring closing round of 75 last Sunday to ruin any chance he had of potentially winning the Northern Trust Open.

McIlroy was -10 under and just a few strokes off the lead going into the final round but shot a +4 over and finished tied for 20th place in his first PGA Tournament of 2016. McIlroy did however, win the Honda Classic in 2012

2. Rickie Fowler – 12 to 1

Fowler has not played since he finished second to Hideki Matsuyama at the Phoenix Open of February 4. Fowler has already won the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship on January 24, 2016, for one win this calendar year to reach three PGA Tour wins in his career and two European Tour wins.

T-3. Hideki Matsuyama – 18 to 1

Matsuyama won the Phoenix Open three weeks ago to record his second PGA Tour win by beating Fowler in a playoff. Matsuyama followed that victory up by finishing tied for 11th place at the Northern Trust Open last week.

T-3. Adam Scott – 18 to 1

Adam Scott has some serious skills, but golf bettors should know that he has not won a tournament since May of 2014.

T-5. Phil Mickelson – 22 to 1

Mickelson just missed getting into a playoff at Pebble Beach two weeks ago as he missed a short putt on the 18th hole that would have forced a playoff.

Now, here is some brief tournament history followed by a look at some more odds to win the 2016 Honda Classic.

The Honda Classic “Bear Trap,” is a gruesome three-hole stretch that starts with the par-3 15th hole and also includes the par-4 16th and the par-3 17th.

Jack Nicklaus has the most Honda Classic wins of any golfer with three (1976, 77, 78). Nicklaus beat Gary Player by five shots in his 1977 t record the largest margin of victory at the Honda Classic. Camilo Villegas matched that margin in 2010, beating runner-up Anthony Kim by five strokes.

Padraig Harrington ended a winless drought of almost seven years by beating 21-year-old Daniel Berger on the second hole of a playoff to win the Honda Classic in 2015.

11 ranked players are in the field this year, including No. 3 McIlroy and No. 5 Fowler, the reigning Players Championship winner.
