Betting 2024 Shriners Children’s Open | Know the Basics

The PGA Tour’s fall schedule makes its stop in Las Vegas this week for the 2024 Shriners Children’s Open at TPC Summerlin.

While the field may not feature the star power of previous years, there is still plenty of talent, and the storyline of Tom Kim attempting a three-peat adds excitement.

This year’s event promises intense competition as players look to improve their status for next season.

Let’s take a look at some of the top players to watch, along with our best pick for the winner.

Writer’s Picks for the Next Shriners Children’s Open (Top Players to Watch)

Tom Kim +1200

Tom Kim is the name on everyone’s mind this week.

He’s aiming to become the first player to win the same tournament three years in a row since Steve Stricker at the John Deere Classic over a decade ago.

Kim has shown impressive consistency at TPC Summerlin, where the conditions have suited his game perfectly.

With odds at +1200, he enters as the favorite, but he’ll need to bring his best to fend off a field of competitors hungry for a win.

PGA 1st Pick: Tom Kim

Davis Thompson +2500

Davis Thompson is another golfer to keep an eye on.

Thompson has been in strong form recently, and his game seems well-suited to desert golf conditions like those at TPC Summerlin.

He’s had several impressive finishes this year, including a win at the John Deere Classic.

With odds of +2500, Thompson presents good value, especially if he finds his rhythm early.

He could be a strong contender to challenge Kim for the title.

PGA 2nd Pick: Davis Thompson

Taylor Pendrith +2200

Taylor Pendrith has had an impressive season, finishing T8 at the Tour Championship.

His power off the tee will be a huge asset at TPC Summerlin, where distance can make a big difference.

Pendrith is also no stranger to contending in these types of tournaments, and a solid showing here could cap off an already impressive year.

At +2200, Pendrith has the potential to make a serious run at the title.

PGA 3rd Pick: Taylor Pendrith

Stephan Jaeger +3500

Stephan Jaeger comes into the Shriners Children’s Open on the back of a solid runner-up finish in Utah.

Jaeger’s ability to put together birdie streaks makes him dangerous on a course like TPC Summerlin.

With odds at +3500, he has the potential to be in the mix throughout the weekend, and he’ll be looking to build on his recent momentum.

PGA 4th Pick: Stephan Jaeger

Maverick McNealy +4000

Las Vegas local Maverick McNealy knows TPC Summerlin well, and he’s always a popular pick in this event.

Though still seeking his first PGA Tour win, McNealy has had two runner-up finishes in his career.

The familiarity with this course could give him an edge, and this week might be the breakthrough he’s been looking for.

With odds at +4000, McNealy could be a great dark horse pick for those looking for higher payouts.

PGA 5th Pick: Maverick McNealy

Our 2024 Shriners Children’s Open Pick to Win

After reviewing the field and recent form, our pick to win the 2024 Shriners Children’s Open is Davis Thompson (+2500).

Thompson’s solid performances throughout the season, along with his success on similar courses, make him a strong candidate.

With odds of +2500, he provides good value for bettors.

He has demonstrated the ability to thrive in desert conditions like those at TPC Summerlin, and his birdie-making potential could be the difference-maker this week.

We believe Thompson has what it takes to come out on top and capture the title in Las Vegas.

PGA Winning Pick: Davis Thompson

2023 Shriners Children’s Open Odds Plus Betting Analysis on the Top Favorites

Previous Betting News

The PGA Tour makes its annual stop in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the 41st edition of the Shriners Children’s Open. A mainstay on the Tour’s fall schedule, the event has been played at various courses around Sin City but has settled at TPC Summerlin, just west of the Strip, since 2014. Once played over five days, the event was shortened to a standard four-day event beginning on Thursday, October 12th.

Fan favorite, Tom Kim, returns to the desert to defend his 2022 title. Kim became the second golfer since Tiger Woods to win a pair of PGA Tour events before the age of 21. His four-day total of 260 (24-under par) was good enough for a three-shot cushion over Patrick Cantlay and Matthew NeSmith.

The Shriners is the third of seven events apart of the FedExCup Fall schedule, which brings added drama to this event as players sitting outside the top 50 jockey for positioning in the rankings. Players ranked inside the top 125 at the conclusion of the RSM Classic will retain their Tour status for next season.

Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming Shriners Children’s Open tournament so you can bet against the PGA betting lines with MyBookie.

Monday, October 9th – Sunday, October 15th, 2023
TPC at Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nevada

TPC at Summerlin

The private golf club is a member of the Tournament Players Club and is operated by the PGA Tour. The par 71 track measures approximately 7,255 feet and sits at 2,700 feet above sea level. Designed by Bobby Weed, the course incorporates many features of the desert landscape.

One unique feature of the course is the abundance of water on the property. Players will need to be accurate both off the tee and with their approaches to avoid falling victim to the water hazards.

The Field

Five players inside the top 50 in the current rankings are in action this week, with Kim leading the charge. Joining Kim are Nick Taylor, Si Woo Kim, Adam Schenk, and Emiliano Grillo.

Ludvig Aberg, fresh off a Ryder Cup win and T2 at last week’s Sanderson Farms Championship, continues his quest to rise up the rankings this week. Aberg, a 23-year-old from Sweden and Texas Tech standout won the Omega European Masters at the beginning of September.

LPGA Tour veteran and 11-time winner Lexi Thompson earned a sponsor exemption and will test her game against the men. Thompson becomes the seventh female to earn a spot in a PGA Tour event.

Other notables in the field include European Ryder Cup members Nicolai Hojgaard, Akshay Bhatia, Webb Simpson, Eric Cole, and Joel Dahmen.

2023 Shriners Children’s Open Betting Favorites

Tom Kim enters the first round as the betting favorite at +1150. The 21-year-old suffered an ankle injury in late summer and has played sparingly since. Kim wrapped up the FedExCup Playoffs with respectable finishes of T24, T10, and T20.

Aberg (+1225) is another favorite and comes in playing solid golf. Swedish pro currently sits at 113th in the standings.

Si Woo Kim (+2100), Cameron Davis (+2300), Adam Schenk (+2900), and JT Poston (+2900) round out the betting favorites. Schenk remains searching for his first PGA Tour victory while Kim, Davis, and Poston look to get back into the winner’s circle this week.
