Betting 2024 Infosys Hall of Fame Open

The Infosys Hall of Fame Open is an ATP 250 event held in Newport, Rhode Island, the site of the first-ever U.S. Open.

The Hall of Fame Open has been held every year since 1976, but this is likely to be its final year as it wasn’t included on the 2025 ATP calendar.

Recent winners of the grass court tournament include 2024 entrants Adrian Mannarino (2023) and Maxime Cressy (2022) as well as four-time winner John Isner, Steve Johnson (2018), and Ivo Karlovic (2016).

2024 Infosys Hall of Fame Open Top 3 Players

Adrian Mannarino

Mannarino is the defending champion and top seed in the tournament, but surprisingly has just the sixth-shortest odds to win.

That likely has something to do with the fact the five-time ATP winner is just 8-17 this season and, at 36 years old, is clearly showing signs that he can’t keep up with the sport’s youngest and brightest stars.

Mannarino has lost four matches in a row and hasn’t been past a Round of 16 since ATP 250 Dallas, where he reached the semi-final without winning a full match, earning a first-round bye, walk-over victory, and retirement win.

Marcos Giron

The second seed in the tournament, Marcos Giron also has the second-shortest odds to win the Hall of Fame Open at +750.

Interestingly, tournament betting favorite Brandon Nakashima is the fifth seed.

Giron, meanwhile, will play the winner of Zachary Svajda and Benoit Paire in the second round.

The 30-year-old American, currently ranked No. 46 in the world, is 16-17 this season and coming off a Round of 64 loss to Alexander Zverev at Wimbledon.

He has fared well at ATP 250 events in the US, however, reaching the final in Dallas and semi-final at Delray Beach.

Alex Michelsen

American Alex Michelsen was runner-up at the 2023 Hall of Fame Open, which marked the sixth consecutive year that a US-born player was in the final.

The 19-year-old hasn’t really been able to build upon that momentum since last year.

He is still searching for his first career title and is 13-18 this season, with his best result being quarter-final finishes at Los Cabos, Geneva, and Mallorca.

He has the benefit of receiving a first-round bye at Newport and will play the 2022 winner Cressy or Radu Albot.

Infosys Hall of Fame Open Final Pick

There are plenty of Americans with a shot at winning in Newport, but I like Christopher Eubanks to make a run at the title.

The world No. 128 is just 6-15 this season, but proved himself a quality grass court player at Wimbledon in 2023, reaching the quarter-finals, and has won on the ATP Tour.

He also has one of the most favorable draws, playing either wild card Ethan Quinn or a qualifier in the second round.

In the top half of the bracket, the door is wide open for Mannarino or Michelsen, and the latter is a player who is due to break through and reach another final.

He had success here last year and should gain confidence from that.

Pick: Eubanks def. Michelsen

Previous Betting News

The Wimbledon Championships are over, but there is one more grass court tournament on the ATP Tour before attention turns to the hard courts. The final summer grass event for the men is the ATP 250 Infosys Hall of Fame Open in Newport, Rhode Island. This event is the only grass court ATP tournament held in North America, and the draw has a field of 28 players.

With a majority of the top-ranked players in the world taking the week off after Wimbledon, American Tommy Paul is the No. 1 seed. Adrian Mannarino, ranked 35th in the world, is the No. 2 seed followed by Ugo Humbert. American MacKenzie McDonald is the No. 4 seed and the final player to receive a first-round bye.

That said, let’s take a closer look at the upcoming Infosys Hall of Fame Open so you can bet against the ATP betting lines.

Paul The Favorite

Tommy Paul is both the top seed and the MyBookie betting favorite at the Infosys Hall of Fame Open. However, the No. 1 seed has only won this event twice since 1980, and both times it was American John Isner. The big serving veteran is in the same half of the draw as Paul, which gives him a tough route to the finals.

Paul is +275 to win the title this week in Newport. He has a 6-4 record on grass this season and a 13-9 record for his career. Paul’s only career ATP Tour title came on indoor hard courts, so a title this week would be his first on grass and his first in an outdoor event.

Paul played well on the grass at the Eastbourne event in England last month, reaching the finals before falling to Francisco Cherundolo in three sets. He also lost to Cerundolo on the grass at the Queen’s Club event in June after winning his first two matches. Paul won two matches at Wimbledon before falling to Jiri Lehecka in five sets.

Mannarino Second Favorite

Ranked 35th in the world, Mannarino is the No. 2 seed, and he is +650 to win the ATP Newport event. Mannarino is 8-4 on grass this season and 65-48 for his career, his best winning percentage on any surface. He has a grass court title from 2019 at ‘s-Hertogenbosch, one of two career titles.

Mannarino lost to Jordan Thompson in the quarterfinals on grass at ‘s-Hertogenbosch this season. He reached the quarters at Queen’s Club and lost in the finals to Christopher Eubanks on the grass at Mallorca. The Frenchman won his Wimbledon opener before losing to semifinalist Daniil Medvedev, the No. 3 seed, at Wimbledon.

Thompson, Humbert Other Top Seeds

As the No. 3 seed, Ugo Humbert is +900 to win this week, while Thompson is +700, despite not getting a first-round bye. Ranked No. 69 in the world, Thompson has never won an ATP Tour title but is 7-4 on grass this season. He lost in the ‘s-Hertogenbosch finals and played well against Novak Djokovic in a second-round loss at Wimbledon.

Humbert has a grass title in his career at Halle in 2021, but he is just 1-3 on the surface this season. He has lost in the first round in his last two events, including a five-set loss at Wimbledon to Jason Kubler.

Top Seeds: Bet Infosys Hall of Fame Open to Win
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Tournament

Isner, Cressy Among Former Winners

Maxime Cressy is the defending champion, and John Isner has won this event twice, in 2011 and 2012. Both are +1000 to win again this week.

Isner will face a qualifier in the first round and could face Paul in the quarterfinals before a potential showdown with No. 4 seed McDonald in the semis. Cressy is also in the top half of the draw with winnable matches in the first two rounds before a quarterfinal matchup against McDonald.

Cressy is 1-4 on grass this season, and he went out in the first round at Wimbledon, Queen’s Club, and ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Isner’s big serve gives him a chance in any event, especially on fast surfaces like grass. However, he has lost six straight matches on tour and hasn’t won since February, when he reached the finals of the ATP 250 in Dallas.

Previous Betting News

The final chance for players to play on the grass during the ATP Tour schedule will take place at the Infosys Hall of Fame Open this week. This tournament has rewarded some big servers in the past, as the naturally fast conditions of the grass combined with many top players transitioning to other surfaces can yield some interesting winners. Here, we look at the draw for this year’s event at Newport, RI, along with a look back at the recent history of the tournament. Let’s jump right into action so you can get all set to make your bets against the ATP Odds.

Tennis Betting Preview for the 2022 Hall of Fame Open Tournament

2022 Infosys Hall of Fame Open Draw

The top-two seeds at this year’s Infosys Hall of Fame Open are certainly a draw, as Felix Auger-Aliassime is the top seed and John Isner is the second seed in Newport. This will be Auger-Aliassime’s first appearance at this event, as he looks to rebound from a first round exit at Wimbledon at the hands of Maxime Cressy. Isner, meanwhile, will be competing in his 10th edition of this tournament and has won it four times previously.

The rest of the seeded players in Newport are not quite as impressive as the top-two, but there is some talent there nonetheless. The mercurial Alexander Bublik is seeded third, while serve and volley specialist Maxime Cressy is the fourth seed. Andy Murray is the other seeded player worth watching here, as he is the sixth seed and has a very attainable path to the semifinals where he could face Auger-Aliassime.

As far as unseeded players go, one worth watching is Tim Van Rijthoven. Van Rijthoven had a breakout grass season in Europe, winning the tournament on his home soil at s-Hertogenbosch before winning several matches at Wimbledon. For those looking at the outright markets at this tournament, the Dutchman could be someone to back to win this event given his proficiency on the grass.

Infosys Hall of Fame Open History

The Infosys Hall of Fame Open has been running since 1976, with Americans having massive success on home soil. In just under 50 years, Americans have won this event over 20 times, making up nearly half of the champions of the tournament. John Isner has been the most recent of those champions, winning two of the last four editions of the event that have been held, beating the aforementioned Bublik for the title in 2019.

In the most recent edition of the tournament, American Jenson Brooksby made it to the final, but fell just short of the title. He was cut down by Kevin Anderson, as the big-serving South African briefly overcame the injuries that have held him back to turn back the clock and deliver a serving masterclass. He beat Brooksby in straight sets in the final last year, in the first edition of the tournament since it was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2022 Infosys Hall of Fame Open Prediction

When picking a winner for this year’s tournament at Newport, it can be easy to default to taking Auger-Aliassime or Isner. Not only are they the highest seeded players, but the Canadian has the best game of any player at this tournament, while Isner has the best history of any player at this event. But there are some better values out there worth taking a look at.

As mentioned earlier, Tim Van Rijthoven is absolutely worth a play as an unseeded player coming into this event. His game is suited for the grass, and he went 8-1 on the surface this year. That lone loss came against Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon, and Van Rijthoven even managed to take a set in that match, which speaks to the kind of form he is enjoying of late.

For those looking to back an American at this event, Maxime Cressy would be the best way to go at this point in time. Cressy’s serve and volley style plays well on the grass, as his big serve is tough to return and his desire to charge to the net takes away time for opponents to plan shots around him. He may not be as good a bet as Van Rijthoven, but Cressy could certainly be the last man standing in Newport.
