The Timberwolves dug deep and found a way to win Game 4 on the road and now head home as they look to stave off elimination for another day. The pressure is all on the Timberwolves, but it still feels as though this game is something of a coin flip, as we have had 3 of the 4 games in this series decided by 5 points or less. With that in mind, it is perhaps a little surprising that the Timberwolves are favored by 4 ½ points in Game 5. The point total is set at 209 ½. Can Minnesota stay alive, or will the Dallas Mavericks be making travel plans to Boston after tonight?

Staving off elimination is all well and good, but the huge Game 4 win for the Minnesota Timberwolves will mean nothing if they cannot head home and win again. All they can do at this point is go with the old sports cliché and take things one game at a time. If they can get the win tonight, some of the pressure might start shifting back onto the Dallas Mavericks. One thing that has to be a little concerning is that the T-Wolves have won just once in the last 5 games that they started as the favorite, which they will be doing tonight. On the flipside of that coin is the fact that they have won 10 in a row in Thursday night games. They are 3-6 ATS in their last 9 and just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games versus Dallas. The OVER has hit in 4 of their last 5 games played on home court.

The Dallas Mavericks are sure to be more than a little disappointed at not being able to close out this series in their own building in Game 4. At this point, the Mavericks are probably still not feeling a whole lot of pressure, as they only need 1 win from the next 3 games to move on to the NBA Finals, but as we have said countless times in the past, it is often that final game in a series that is the most difficult to win. History seems to be on their side, though, as they have won 4 of their last 6 meetings with the Timberwolves. The Mavericks are also on a run that has seen them cover the spread 10 times in their last 15 games, as well as in 5 of their last 7 versus the Timberwolves. The OVER has hit in 4 of their last 5 games overall.

As mentioned earlier, this series has been a whole lot closer than the 3-1 score would suggest. I think we get another close one here, and I am on the T-Wolves to stay alive, but only just. The safe bet, I believe, is the Mavs to cover.
