In looking at the upcoming Major League Baseball schedule, we have found a couple of huge series with playoff implications that will kick off next week’s action. There’ll be a huge series within the American League East, and another one pitting two NL East teams against each other. Let’s take a look at both of those series, and we’ll give you some MLB Betting advice on each one of them.
What 2022 MLB Series Should We Bet On Next Week?
Baltimore Orioles @ Toronto Blue Jays
Don’t look now, but here come the Baltimore Orioles again. Although they’re in fourth place in the American League East, they’re just out of the final wild card spot, and they only trail the Tampa Bay Rays by a ½ game. The Orioles will play in an all-important series to start the week, as they’ll travel to Toronto to take on the Blue Jays.
The Jays are currently holding down second place in the AL East. However, only two games separate Toronto from Baltimore, so this series has some huge playoff implications. Things will be tough for the Orioles, as they’ll drop Toronto’s top two starters in the first two games.
In Game 1, Toronto will have Alek Manoah on the mound, and the next night, Jose Berrios will take the hill. Even though Baltimore has been playing great baseball as of late, we don’t like their matchups in this one. If we were going to bet on this series, we’d take the Jays to win the series.
New York Mets @ Atlanta Braves
After taking four of five from the Braves last weekend, the Mets now have a comfortable lead in the National League East. At the time of this writing, New York holds a seven-game lead over Atlanta in the standings. These two will meet again next week in a three-game set at Truist Park.
While these games are huge for Atlanta, this could also be a knockout blow for the Mets. As far as the pitching goes, we like what the Mets have to offer. They’ll send Carlos Carrasco, Taijuan Walker, and Max Scherzer in this series. All three of these pitchers have had a great season. Atlanta will be fortunate to miss out on Jacob deGrom, but those other three have carried the Mets staff for much of the season.
Atlanta will counter with Charlie Morton, Kyle Wright, and their ace, Max Fried. While these should be good matchups, we still like the Mets. New York just seems to have Atlanta’s number this season, and the Braves haven’t been able to solve the Mets pitching. If the Mets have a late lead, their bullpen has been dominant, especially Edwin Diaz. When Diaz comes in to close a game, the Mets win.
When Fried and Scherzer square off in the final game of the series, we can’t think that there will be many runs scored, so be sure to take a look at the run total prior to making your wagers.
Even though this series is being played at Atlanta’s home park, we just can’t see them beating the Mets. This will be the series where the Mets take the East, and the Braves can then concentrate on earning the top wild card spot.
