Odds have landed for pitchers to lead Major League Baseball in strikeouts this season and it’s no surprise that Atlanta’s Spencer Strider is a huge +190 favorite. Kevin Gausman is the second choice. But after Strider and Gausman there isn’t a flamethrower on the board that offers odds less than +1000.
Which pitchers should be on your radar to lead MLB in Ks?
Check out MLB props, analysis, and picks to lead the league in strikeouts.

Pitcher With Most Strikeouts Props
The Favorites of the Season
- Spencer Strider +190
- Kevin Gausman +900
Among the two chalks, it’s an easy decision. For sure, Strider is a boring pick, but Spencer struck out 281 batters last season.
Gausman struck out just 237. Kevin, Toronto’s ace, struck out just 3 more batters than Pablo Lopez, who offers much better odds at +1800. So in this case, although Strider’s odds are less than 2-to-1, Spencer offers the overlay number compared to Gausman at 9-to-1.
Go chalky if you want to back one of the less than 10-to-1 baseball odds choices.

The Fair Odds Choices
- Gerrit Cole +1200
- Blake Snell +1400
- Corbin Burnes +1800
- Pablo Lopez +1800
- Kodai Senga +2200
When it comes to the fair odds choices, we must be suspect of Gerrit Cole. For sure, the Yankees’ ace strikes out a ton of batters, but Cole plays in New York while Snell, who offers 14-to-1 odds plays in the comfy confines of Petco Park.
Snell was brilliant last season when posting a 2.25 ERA and striking out 234 batters. He could have his stuff working big time. If he does, forget it. Blake will have a massive shot of posting big time strikeout numbers, which means he’s a slight overlay at 14-to-1 odds.
Another overlay is the aforementioned Pablo Lopez. There’s nothing wrong with the 234 strikeouts Pablo posted, like Snell. Lopez offers a slightly better number than Snell. So back Lopez in this category if you agree he’s got a big chance to get it done.
One interesting note is that Kodai Senga struck out just 202 batters. Sure, he could get more run and strikeout way more, but the odds seem light on the New York Mets starter. Still, there are high hopes in Queens for Senga. So give him a look if you think he picks it up in 2024.
+1000 Pitchers
Fair Odds Pick: Luis Castillo and Freddy Peralta | Odds for MLB
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Tournament
The +2500 Pitchers
- Tyler Glasnow +2500
- Aaron Nola +2500
- Luis Castillo +2500
- Zach Wheeler +2500
- Hunter Greene +2500
- Freddy Peralta +2500
Luis Castillo and Freddy Peralta are the two choices here. Castillo posted 219 Ks, which was well below the number by Strider. However, Logan Gilbert could for sure improve this season, which might boost Castillo’s stats.
Peralta struck out 210. The Brewers could be going through some changes, which might make Peralta a bad play. But he’s throwing behind Burnes and Corbin will have a decent season. So give Freddy a look.
Also, you can’t go wrong with either Zach Wheeler or Aaron Nola. Both of Philadelphia’s aces are solid picks in most seasons. If Strider and Gausman falters, the door could open for either.

Pitching Strikeout Leader Underdogs
Top Underdog Pick: Cole Ragans +4000
The 26 year old struck out just 110 batters last season. If Kansas City improves their rotation, who knows, though?
Ragans has serious stuff and if he can get some help either from the BP or a more strategic starting rotation, he could use more of that stuff. Pitchers respond best when the pressure is low and because he’s the Royals’ ace, the pressure is always on Ragans.
Kansas City Royals
1st Underdog Strikeout Leader Pick: Cole Ragans +4000 | Odds for MLB
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Tournament
Second Underdog Pick: Tarik Skubal +5000
Skubal should be sitting on a breakout season. Stats wise, he broke out in 2023 when he threw down a 2.80 ERA and a .90 WHIP. The 102 Ks weren’t close to Strider’s number.
But that was 2023. At the 50-to-1 odds, Skubal for sure deserves a look if you’re an underdog player.
Detroit Tigers
2nd Underdog Strikeout Leader Pick: Tarik Skubal +5000 | Odds for MLB

Go for Broke Underdog Pick: Walker Buehler
Buehler threw in just 12 games last season. But check it out . . . he struck out 58 batters. 58 strikeouts in 65 innings won’t get it done, of course, but Buehler is on the way back. The never-ending purse full of money that are the Los Angeles Dodgers decided to stick with Walker after the injury.
They see something in him. Buehler for sure qualifies as the swing for the fences pick. 80-to-1 odds mean he probably doesn’t come close, but that’s why he’s our go for broke pick.

MLB Season Info | Updated MLB Odds
Duration: Thursday, Mar. 30 – Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023
Number of games: 162 games
Number of teams: 30 teams
Top Pick: Framber Valdez +1600
Framber Valdez | Pitcher
Team: Houston Astros
2022 Win–loss record: 41–23
Framber is the new ace in Houston. Valdez has the makings of one of the best pitchers in baseball. It helps that the Stros’ bullpen is rock solid. Also, the defending champs are great at the plate. So Valdez will have a lead almost every time he steps off the mound.
MLB Pitching Props: Top Pick | Bet Framber Valdez To Win
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Game
Second Pick: Shane McClanahan +1500
Shane McClanahan | Pitcher
Team: Tampa Bay Rays
2022 Win–loss record: 22–14
Tampa’s top starter went 12-8 last season with a 2.54 ERA and .93 WHIP. If Tyler Glasnow is healthy this season, McClanahan should post better stats.
Opposing managers must figure out how to score runs against both Glasnow and McClanahan. There’s a chance Glasnow steals a few wins from McClanahan. More than likely, Shane steps it up.
MLB Pitching Props: Second Pick | Bet Shane McClanahan To Win
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Game
Third Pick: Justin Verlander +1400
Justin Verlander | Pitcher
Team: New York Mets
2022 Win–loss record: 244–133
Verlander offers lower odds than Max Scherzer. It makes sense. Batters in the National League know Max well. Those same batter have seen Justin pitch and they know a little about him, but many haven’t faced him.
Verlander should have a significant edge in most games he starts.
MLB Pitching Props: Third Pick | Bet Justin Verlander To Win
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Game
Top Pick: Corbin Burnes +800
Corbin Burnes | Pitcher
Team: Milwaukee Brewers
2022 Win–loss record: 35–19
This is an odds play. For sure Gerrit Cole is going to be one of MLB’s strikeout leaders. But Cole may not be the strikeout leader.
But Gerrit offers much lower odds than Corbin.
Burnes sent 247 batters to the dugout with a third strike last season. 247 is a massive number. If the Brewers are better in 2023 than they were in 2022, Corbin could increase the strikeouts because more batters will be chasing instead of taking their time and making quality swings.
MLB Pitching Props: Top Pick | Bet Corbin Burnes To Win
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Game
Second Pick: Gerrit Cole +550
Gerrit Cole | Pitcher
Team: New York Yankees
2022 Win–loss record: 130–71
Cole struck out 257 batters in 2022. Gerrit could eclipse that. It’s just not wise to expect him to eclipse 257 strikeouts at +550 odds.
One of the reasons Gerrit is so good at striking out batters is because he’s always looking to get the strikeout. Of course, when Gerrit misses, it can lead to home runs, which is why his ERA is 3.50, which is high for a Cy Young favorite.
But were talking strikeouts in this blog. There’s no way to keep a K monster like Gerrit Cole out of our top two picks.
MLB Pitching Props: Second Pick | Bet Gerrit Cole To Win
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Game
Third Pick: Jacob deGrom +1200
Jacob deGrom | Pitcher
Team: Texas Rangers
2022 Win–loss record: 82–57
deGrom comes from the National League, which means he should an advantage facing AL batters. The Texas Rangers ace sat 102 batters in 64.1 innings thrown.
Think about how many batters he’d send to the showers if he threw 200 innings like Gerrit Cole did? deGrom is a strikeout master. At the odds, he’s definitely worth a look. Don’t forget, though, that Jacob’s not the most durable starter we can think of. So bet with caution.
MLB Pitching Props: Third Pick | Bet Jacob deGrom To Win
