Let’s preview all three games of the weekend tilt so you can get all set to make your bets against their MLB Odds.
Tampa Bay versus Baltimore: Can the Orioles Keep on Winning? | MLB Betting Analysis
Baltimore Orioles
Many baseball experts felt that the Baltimore Orioles would be one of the worst teams in baseball this season. With the Yankees trying to run away with the division, the Orioles are in last place in the American League East. So, the Orioles are pretty much out of playoff contention, right? Not so fast. Even though the Orioles are in last place in the AL East, they’re just two games out of a wild card spot.
At 45-44, the Orioles are just two games behind Boston and Toronto in the East, and are 3.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays. Speaking of the Rays, the Orioles will head to Tropicana Field for a big three-game series with Tampa Bay this weekend. With a good showing, Baltimore could possibly be in one of the wild card spots heading into the All Star Break.
We have failed to mention that Baltimore is currently on a 10-game winning streak. With the Blue Jays, who just fired their manager, and the Red Sox struggling, Baltimore has picked a great time to go on a run. We’ll see if they can continue their streak down in Tampa.
Tampa Bay Rays
Speaking of Tampa, they’ve once again quietly put together a solid season that should end with a spot in the American League playoffs. Even though they don’t have a lineup full of superstars, Tampa always seems to find a way to win games. Their biggest superstar, Wander Franco, will miss multiple games with an injury, so he won’t be playing in this series.
With Franco out, Randy Arozarena may be the most well-known Rays player. He’s well-known because of his playoff performance from last season. When your team is led by players such as Isaac Paredes, Harold Ramirez, and Yandy Diaz, and you’re still winning games in a stacked division, you know that the team plays fundamental baseball and knows how to win.
The Orioles won’t see Tampa Bay ace Shane McClanahan this weekend, but they will see Jeffrey Springs and Corey Kluber. Springs has been surprisingly good this season, while Kluber has seemed to reinvent himself in Tampa. We’ll be curious to see if Tampa Bay sends an opener out in the first game of the series, or if they’ll find someone to fill that spot.
Betting Thoughts
Tampa Bay has gone 6-4 in its last 10 games. The Rays have found a way to sneak ahead of Toronto and Boston, and have regained second place in the AL East. Baltimore knows that if they can have a good weekend, that they can head into the All Star Break as a playoff team.
We really like the Orioles this weekend. Tyler Wells and Dean Kremer will be on the hill for the Orioles. Wells has been the ace of the staff this season. Kremer has come out of nowhere to have a good season. Jordan Lyles is also scheduled to start for Baltimore, and he has pitched well as of late.
Baltimore will stay hot, and will win two games, heading into the All Star Break as a playoff team.
