NBA Season Series

This is the third of four regular-season meetings and they split the first two in the 2023 portion of the schedule and both in Atlanta. The most recent game was Dec. 6 and the Nets won 114-113. There were 43 lead changes — the most since the NBA began tracking play-by-play in 1996 — along with 11 ties. Mikal Bridges led the Nets with 32 points, including a clutch step-back jumper with 4.5 seconds left. Trae Young had 30 points for Atlanta but badly missed a shot as time expired for the win. Young thought he was fouled. Dating back to last season, four of the Nets’ last five meetings with the Hawks have been decided by two or fewer points

Why Bet on Atlanta?

The Hawks lost All-Star point guard Trae Young last Friday to a finger injury that will cost him at least a month, yet Atlanta is 2-0 since then with back-to-back blowout wins. It was 124-97 over Utah on Tuesday as the Hawks never trailed after scoring the game’s first points.

The Hawks, who also have center Onyeka Okongwu for an indefinite period with a sprained left toe, have held back-to-back opponents under 100 points for the first time this season. . In three games since the All-Star break, the Hawks are allowing just 104.0 points per game, tied for the sixth-fewest opponent points per contest in the NBA.

“I think our communication has been better than it has been,” Jalen Johnson said, adding success has come with “executing defensively and sticking to the game plan.”

Johnson racked up 22 points and 13 rebounds in the win. The third-year forward delivered his 17th double-double of the season and fourth straight. In 11 games played during the month of February, Johnson is averaging 16.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.3 blocks in 37.9 minutes of play. He is the only player in the East this month, and one of only two players in the NBA, averaging at least 15.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 block, joining Victor Wembanyama.

Dejounte Murray has taken over as the No. 1 offensive option with Young out and had 17 points, 11 assists and four rebounds in the win. Murray has three straight double-doubles, with the third involving rebounds instead of assists, and in nine February games, the 27-year-old is averaging 21.3 points, 7.6 assists and 6.6 rebounds. In three games since the All-Star break, Murray has poured in 66 total points (22.0 ppg) on .491 FG% (28-57 FGM).

Bogdan Bogdanovic enters Thursday’s game having buried 174 three-pointers this season, the fifth-most by any player in the NBA and the second-most by an Eastern Conference player this season. His 174 triples are the 10th-most in a single season in club history and are only two makes from deep away from tying Taurean Prince (176, 2017-18) for the ninth-most.

Thursday will mark Atlanta’s ninth ever game on Leap Day. The club is 6-2 in the previous eight and 4-1 at home. Hawks assistant coach Igor Kokoskov was an assistant on the Nets during the 2022-23 season.

Why Bet on Brooklyn?

The Nets finished a five-game road trip at 1-4 following a 108-81 loss in Orlando on Tuesday even though the Magic were without star Paolo Banchero. Losing for the fifth time in six games, the Nets shot 39.2% and finished with 22 turnovers. The Magic had lost by 20 and 28 points at Brooklyn early this season.

Brooklyn forward Mikal Bridges, playing in his 450th consecutive game, was held to four points, his lowest scoring output of the season. Bridges, who has never missed a game in his five NBA seasons, did not score in the first half and shot 2 for 14 for the game, missing all seven of his 3-point shots. He has now scored less than 20 points in four of his last five games.

“I feel like when I’m open I’m going to take threes,” Bridges said. “They all feel good. It’s just not going in. I’ll continue to take what the defense gives me and stay aggressive. The only way to get out of a slump is to keep shooting.”

Bridges is fifth in the NBA in ‘clutch’ points (98), trailing only Stephen Curry (165), DeMar DeRozan (114), Trae Young (107) and Damian Lillard (102). Bridges ranks fifth in the league in total minutes played (2,032). He led this category in each of the last two seasons.

Dennis Schroder led the Nets with 15 points Tuesday in his third start with the team. Trendon Watford had 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench. He has played more than 10 minutes in just three games this month, all of which were blowouts. However, he has averaged 14.7 points in 24 minutes in those games.

Brooklyn played without Cam Thomas on Tuesday due to an ankle injury and he’s not likely here. Thomas had suffered the injury coming down on teammate Day’Ron Sharpe’s foot with 7:23 left in Monday’s 111-86 win in Memphis. Brooklyn struggled without Thomas earlier this season when he missed close to a month with another ankle issue. It led to Bridges shouldering most of the offensive load, which was a rough experience, considering the Nets rely on them as a duo.

Ben Simmons was out Tuesday, not yet cleared for back-to-backs by the performance team due to managing his recovery from back surgery. He should play here. With Simmons and Thomas both out, Cam Johnson made his return to the starting lineup.

In the four games since the All-Star break, the Nets have held their opponents to 104.0 ppg, ranking seventh in the league. Brooklyn allowed 115.5 ppg in the 54 games prior to the break. Brooklyn is ninth in the league in defensive rating (106.1) post-All-Star break. The Nets are fifth in the East, trailing Milwaukee (99.7), Atlanta (102.0), Charlotte (104.9) and Miami (105.2). Also since the break, Brooklyn is +17 on the offensive glass (43-26 advantage). Only Portland (+35) has a better differential in the league over this stretch.

A win Thursday would extend Brooklyn’s home winning streak against Atlanta to four games and give the Nets their ninth win in their last 10 home games vs. Atlanta (dating back to the 2018-19 season).

Atlanta Hawks vs. Brooklyn Nets Final Betting Thoughts
The Battle for the Final Eastern Conference Play-in Tournament Spot

Atlanta is on a roll, they have won two games in a row and against opponents that scored less than 100 points, that alone, is a statement. On the other side, the Nets have struggled offensively in their last games, even weeks, averaging 99 points per game in the last 10. If we talk about home court advantage, this game is played at home for the Nets, which is a slight advantage they really need for this game.

So, with all that, the question would be, go against the spread or just go straight up... With the NBA Pick below, now all you need is to place your bet, just makes the game so much better.

Jazz vs Nets 2020 NBA Lines, Analysis & Prediction

Previous Betting News

A couple of hot hoops squads throw down on Tuesday night when the Brooklyn Nets host the Utah Jazz. Brooklyn has played great since Kyrie Irving’s return from injury. But will the Nets win and cover versus the hottest Western Conference team in the NBA? Or, will Utah get yet another victory? Check out the NBA odds, a preview and a free pick for Jazz vs Nets!

Jazz vs Nets 2020 NBA Lines, Analysis & Prediction

  • When: Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 7:30 pm ET
  • Where: Barclay’s Center, Brooklyn, NY
  • Over/Under Odds: 218

Why the Utah Jazz are a good bet -2 ½?

In recent weeks, no team in the NBA has dominated as much as the Utah Jazz. Utah is a fantastic 9-1 SU and ATS in their last 10. The Jazz now rank first in 3-point percentage at 39%. They rank sixth in points allowed per game. Opponents average 105.7 per versus Utah. The Jazz has a real shot of beating the Nets and covering the spread on Jan. 14th.

Why the Brooklyn Nets are a good bet +2 ½?

After upsetting Miami 117-113 on Jan. 10 without Irving, Kyrie returned in the next game. He keyed a big 108-86 win over the Atlanta Hawks. Irving went 10-of-11 from the field. He made his only 3-point attempt. Kyrie played less than 20 minutes in the first game back. Against Utah, he should play enough minutes to ensure a Brooklyn Nets’ cover win.

Jazz vs Nets Final NBA Betting Analysis

Even though Brooklyn is a much better team with Kyrie Irving on the court, their star player won’t make enough of an impact on Tuesday. Since the day after Christmas, the Utah Jazz have played like an NBA Championship contender.

Utah has become ultra-efficient. Although they rank sixth in shooting percentage from the field and first from three, Utah averages 109.4 points per. That ranks eighteenth. It means the Jazz are taking their time when they’ve got the rock.

Brooklyn must counter the Jazz’s excellent frontcourt of Rudy Gobert, Bogdan Bogdanovich, and Royce O’Neale. But, how? That’s the problem for the Nets in this game. Irving won’t get easy looks because the Jazz rank seventh or better in 4 categories. Failing to contain Gobert and Bogdanovich should lead to a Brooklyn loss both SU and ATS. Back the Jazz to win another game and cover another spread.

NBA Free Pick: Jazz -2 ½

Heat vs Nets 2020 NBA Lines, Analysis & Prediction

Previous Betting News

Fresh off a win against the Indiana Pacers, the Miami Heat head to Brooklyn to battle the Nets in an interesting matchup. Miami has been on fire in their past few games. Can they keep it going against a Brooklyn team that always steps it up at home? Keep reading for the NBA odds, analysis and a preview of the Heat vs Nets!

Heat vs Nets 2020 NBA Lines, Analysis & Prediction

  • When: Friday, Jan. 10 at 7:30 pm ET
  • Where: Barclays Center, Brooklyn, NY
  • ATS Odds: Heat -3 ½
  • Over/Under Odds: 217

Why the Miami Heat are a good bet -3 ½?

The Heat are 3-1 both SU and ATS in their last 4. Miami heads to Brooklyn off a sensational 122-108 beat down they put onto the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. In that game, the Heat had great balance. Star Jimmy Butler scored 14 points. 6 of his teammates scored between 15 to 19. If Miami brings the same type of balance to this game on Friday night, forget it. The Heat roll to another easy win..

Why the Brooklyn Nets are a good bet +3 ½?

Brooklyn is in bad form. But they could turn things around in their game against the Miami Heat on Jan. 10. The Nets always play tougher at home than they do on the road. In their last battle, they pushed the Oklahoma City Thunder to overtime. A similar effort could lead to a win against the spread and possible victory straight up on Friday.

Heat vs Nets Final NBA Betting Analysis

Although the Brooklyn Nets fight hard, they won’t have an answer against one of the top teams in the NBA on Friday night. First, the Nets must play without Kyrie Irving. With Irving on the bench, they’ve struggled to score.

Second, the Nets haven’t covered a spread since Dec. 21 when they beat the Atlanta Hawks 121-112. That’s a string of 7 straight losses ATS and SU. Also, in the last head-to-head, Miami handled the Nets 109-106.

Third and final, the Heat have a go-to player in Jimmy Butler. As they proved on Wednesday, Butler mustn’t score 30 points for the Heat to win. But if they need Jimmy to score 30 points, he will. This game sets up as a big Miami win and cover.

NBA Free Pick: Heat -3 ½

How to Bet 2019 Nets at Raptors NBA Spread & Betting Pick

Previous Betting News

There is still an awful lot of basketball to be played this season, but it really is beginning to look as though the Eastern Conference is turning into a 2-horse race. It is the Milwaukee Bucks and the Toronto Raptors who are leading the way at the top, with both teams continuing to rack up wins while the chasing pack is starting to drop games here and there. The Bucks and Raptors have essentially been playing a game of leapfrog at the top and the Raptors have the opportunity to get back on top with a win on Friday night when they host the Brooklyn Nets.

While this is a game that you would expect the Raptors to win, it is worth remembering that the Nets took the earlier meeting this season. Brooklyn is sitting down near the playoff line in the Eastern Conference, occupying the #7 spot. The Raptors are in as a 9 ½ point favorite for this one, with the point total set at 222 ½.

How to Bet Nets at Raptors NBA Spread & Betting Pick

Hawks vs 76ers NBA Betting Lines & Game Preview

Why bet on the Brooklyn Nets?

As we mentioned earlier, there is a definite gap opening up in the Eastern Conference, with the Nets now sitting 10 games off the pace being set by the Milwaukee Bucks. Brooklyn is having a much better season than we have seen from them in recent years, and while they are currently occupying a playoff spot, they are still sitting a game under .500 on the season at 21-22. The Nets are close to .500 on the road this season, going 11-12 in those games.

They have not had a lot of success versus teams with a winning record, winning just 6 of the 18 games played against the better teams in the league. The Nets have been in as a road favorite 18 times this season, going 9-9 ATS. 4 of the last 6 games for the Nets have gone OVER, but they are 9-12 O/U on the road this season.

Why bet on the Toronto Raptors?

With 31 wins on the season, the Toronto Raptors have the most wins in the NBA, but they are still sitting behind the Bucks in the East by the slimmest of margins in win percentage. The Raptors did lose to the Nets earlier this season, but that loss was certainly an anomaly, as they had won 12-straight games against Brooklyn prior to that defeat.

The Toronto Raptors are a very solid 17-4 on home court this season, and they have been totally dominant against teams with a losing record, winning 16 of 20 against those teams. Given their record, it is perhaps no surprise that the Raptors have been the favorite more often than not, but they have not been a great ATS bet. Overall, Toronto is 13-20-1 as the favorite, which includes a home favorite record of 9-12 ATS.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction for Nets at Raptors

While I am a little wary about taking the Raptors against the spread given their poor performance there, I do think that they will find a way to win and cover here. They have been playing good ball during their 3-game win streak, so let’s go with Toronto to make it 4 in a row.

Score: Brooklyn Nets 105 – Toronto Raptors 116

Winning Weekend 2016 SU NBA Picks

Previous Betting News

The second-half of the 2015-16 NBA season is here, and while NBA trade deadline buzz is seemingly dominating the NBA lines, our unbridled focus will stay on where it has been the entire season—analyzing and predicting what is likely to happen in the usual regular season NBA odds. Looking for the teams to should bank on in this weekend’s SU NBA betting boards? Hope you do, as we’ve got you well-covered with the free SU NBA betting picks expertly prepared for you below.

Best Winning SU NBA Picks for this Weekend’s Top Games

Thursday, February 18

Chicago Bulls at Cleveland Cavaliers

The Bulls come into this game bleeding of losses, going 1-6 SU in their last seven games and struggling mightily since 1/9/2016, where they have gone a pathetic 4-14 in ATS lines and 5-13 in straight up NBA odds. Making matters worse, the Bulls will be without Jimmy Butler, who is still nursing a strained left knee. Against the Cavaliers, who are the best team in the Eastern Conference, there is a good chance that LeBron James and Co. will be running a riot in this game, most probably claiming both the SU and ATS. After all, the Cavs have won three straight against the Bulls, and that was when Butler was all fit, so doing the same without him should be much easier.

SU NBA Pick: Cleveland

San Antonio Spurs at Los Angeles Clippers

Whereas the Clippers are coming off a tough 139-134 road loss against Boston, a defeat which ended Los Angeles’ three-game winning streak; the Spurs have won their last six games in a row. In the lone meeting between these two teams this season in San Antonio, the Spurs won 115-107 at home in spite of 25-point, 5-rebound, 5-assist effort from Blake Griffin. With Griffin unavailable for this game, I have a hard time trusting that the Clippers will be doing any better in this game, especially because the Spurs own a suffocating league-best defense. Not to forget, this is a San Antonio team that is impressively 17-8 SU on the road this season, along with a 15-10 ATS mark, which should allow them to make life difficult for Los Angeles that is 17-8 SU and 11-14 ATS at home this season.

SU NBA Pick: San Antonio

Friday, February 19

Miami Heat at Atlanta Hawks

The Heat (5th in the East) come into this clash leading the season series against Atlanta 2-1. The problem, however, is that the Heat have lost their last two games in a row and top-sharpshooter Chris Bosh is expected to sit out of this game, as he is set to meet with doctors to determine the seriousness of the blood-clotting fears in his left calf. The Hawks, meanwhile, are yet to live up to their expectations this year, but are still placed fourth in the Eastern Conference standings, showing that they are still a good team. Additionally, the Hawks are one of the best home-winning teams in the East, so leaning on them for a tight narrow home victory looks like the best pick here. As a reminder, be sure to watch for trades by these teams, as new players could also have an effect on the game’s betting lines.

SU NBA Pick: Atlanta

Indiana Pacers at Oklahoma City Thunder

Fully invigorated from pouring 41 points in the All-Star game, Paul George will be looking to continue his revitalized season by leading the Pacers to a potential upset win over All-Star Game MVP Russell Westbrook and the Thunder on Friday. Unfortunately for George, the Pacers are coming off a disappointing 117-95 home loss to the Hornets last Wednesday and they are just 11-16 on the road. In addition, Indiana is just 6-17 ATS against Western Conference opponents this season. This doesn’t orient a lot of confidence, as they will be going against an OKC team that won its last two games entering the All-Star weekend and is impressively 25-5 at home this year. Added to the fact that Westbrook and Durant are virtually uncontainable, George and his short-handed Pacers are highly likely to lose this game, both on the SU and ATS lines.

SU NBA Pick: Oklahoma City

Saturday, February 20

Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Clippers

Outside Golden State’s solid road record of 24-4 SU, the Warriors are 11-0 SU in their last 11 games and they lead the season series with the Clippers 2-0, with both wins coming by an average of 5.5 points. With Griffin absent, I don’t see how the Clippers will match the scoring of Thompson and Curry, who will most likely have their head and rhythm back in the game after playing Portland on Friday.

SU NBA Pick: Golden State

Sunday, February 21

Cleveland Cavaliers at Oklahoma City Thunder

Led by King James and Kevin Love, the Cavs are playing some good basketball under new head coach Tyronn Lue. The Thunder, meanwhile, are the third hottest team in the West (behind Golden State and San Antonio), though the explosive of combo of Westbrook (24.1 PPG, 10.0 APG) and Durant (27.7 points per game, ranked third-best scoring in the league) is arguably the best two-man team in the NBA, making this clash against the Cavs a must-watch contest. The Cavaliers won the first meeting 104-100 in Cleveland, but with both teams going 8-2 SU in their last 10 games entering the All-Star break, it’s hard to pin-point who will win this game. That said, Cleveland is modestly 16-10 on the road and the Cavs have generally struggled against top Western Conference opponents.

Conversely, OKC is as solid as can be when playing at home, as was already mentioned in their preview against the Pacers. All things considered, this game could thus go either way. Personally, though, I like the Thunder for the win, not just because of their solid home record, but because Agent Zero and Durant are solid enough offensively to outlast whatever will be thrown at them by LeBron, Love, Kyrie Irving and J.R. Smith.

SU NBA Pick: Oklahoma City

2015 Atlanta vs Brooklyn NBA Opening Lines

Previous Betting News

Winning regularly in any sport is tough, but having total domination over a single team is something that happens with pretty stunning regularity. In the case of the Atlanta Hawks, the team that they have been able to beat more than most in recent years is the Brooklyn Nets. They will be hoping to continue that dominance when they head to the Big Apple for a showdown with the Nets on Tuesday night. Find the latest NBA odds here.

Atlanta Hawks vs Brooklyn Nets NBA Opening Lines

Date/Time: Tuesday, November 17, 2015 7:30 PM ET Venue: Barclays Center Opening Lines: Atlanta -3.5(-110), Brooklyn +3.5(-110)

Atlanta (8-4) could really use a morale boosting win, as they are coming into this one have lost 2 in a row and 3 of their last 4. If they are going to get back on the winning track, they are most likely going to have to do so without point guard Jeff Teague. Ordinarily that would be an issue, but Dennis Schroder, who would serve as the replacement for the injured Teague, has his best outing of the season when he played earlier this year against these same Brooklyn Nets. The Hawks were the surprise team of last season, and there were plenty of people out there who believed that would have a hard time replicating that same level of success this year. They have started well, and are using that same regular passing system that made them so efficient last season. The Hawks have an assist on 20% of their scoring plays, which is the best in the Eastern Conference right now.

The Nets (1-9) cannot be happy with the start that they have made to the season, but they have to be somewhat pleased with the way they have played of late. They got a win in Houston, and then followed that up with solid outings, albeit in a losing cause, against the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors. The reigning champs needed OT to finally knock off the Nets 107-99. One of the problems for Brooklyn so far is that they have not been very good at home, and are 0-3 to start the season. That is their second worst home start to the season since 2011-12, when then managed to lose the first 4 on home court. They seem to be playing a better brand of ball at the moment, and perhaps their solid play out west will carry over to their play at home. One way to stop Atlanta is to beat them on the outside, but the Nets are coming into this game with the worst 3-point shooting average in the NBA.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bet

he Hawks already knocked off the Nets pretty easily this season to take their win streak against Brooklyn to 6. This is one that could very well see the Hawks extend that streak, although it may be a little closer than it was last time out.
