You have to say that the Wild Card Round live up to its “wild” moniker, as we saw some results that were more than a little surprising, not to mention a comeback for the ages. We also saw what may well be the beginning of the end for Tom Brady, who looked like a shadow of his former self in a blowout loss to the Cowboys. We don’t know for sure if Brady will indeed walk away for good this time, but the reality is that there are bigger stories to cover this weekend as we move into the Divisional Round. The next step is to win and get one step closer to the Super Bowl, but who will do it? Let’s take a look at the NFC matchups to see if we can figure out who will be moving on so you can place your bets on the NFC Conference Championship Odds.

New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles
Given that they were just 3-point underdogs, it wasn’t a total surprise to see the Giants go into Minnesota and come away with a win in the Divisional Round. What may have come as a surprise was just how efficient they were on the offensive side of the football, with Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley playing as though their lives depended on it. Their reward for that win is a trip to Philly to face the #1 seed in the NFC. The Giants have already lost twice to the Eagles this season, so this is going to be a mountain to climb.
The Eagles come into this one rested, which is good news for Jalen Hurts, who got an extra week to try and get his should back to 100%. This is a very different team with Hurts under center, and with him back in the fold, the Eagles are in as a 5-point favorite on home field. They blew out the Giants earlier this season, but they were in a close one with them in the final week of the regular season.
If the Giants can play as well as they did last weekend, we are in for a treat here, and I believe we might see them cover, although winning outright still seems like a big ask. 6 of the last 9 meetings between these teams have gone UNDER, so let’s take that option.
Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers
This feels like a bit of a throwback game, with both of these iconic teams back at the top of their game. The Cowboys looked poor in the final week of the regular season, but they clapped back at the naysayers by delivering a great performance against Brady and the Buccaneers on Monday night in the Divisional Round, even after seeing their kicker miss 3 extra point attempts. Dallas hits the road as a 3 ½ point underdog on Sunday night.
The San Francisco 49ers ended the season on fire, winning 10 in a row before making it 11 with an overpowering 41-23 win over the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional Round. If there were doubts about 3rd string QB Brock Purdy falling apart in the playoffs, he put that to rest with a great performance in that win.
Okay, so let’s get to the betting for this one. My head says to go with the 49ers to win and cover, but I recently wrote a post saying that my gut was telling me that the Cowboys were Super Bowl bound. I need to stick with that, so I am taking them to win and cover, while also taking the UNDER 46.
