2022-23 NFL Playoffs Betting Predictions: Teams That Should Make It, But They Won’t

It’s never too early to look ahead to the start of the NFL season. Many experts release their projected playoff teams prior to the season. We’ve found some teams that many expect to make the playoffs that we don’t think will make it this season. Let’s take a look at three teams that we don’t think will win enough games to earn a postseason berth so you can keep planning your bets against the NFL Playoffs Lines

What NFL Teams That Are Expected to Make the Playoffs Won’t End Up Making It This Season

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders made the playoffs last season, and then they went out in the offseason and acquired Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers. The Raiders made the playoffs without a high-profile receiver last season, so why can’t they make the playoffs with Adams this season?

For one, the Raiders have one of the toughest schedules in the league. Their last nine games of the season will be one of the toughest stretches in the league. They’ll face Denver, Indianapolis, Kansas City, San Francisco, New England, the Los Angeles Rams, and the Los Angeles Chargers in that stretch. Not only is the AFC loaded, but the Raiders play in the AFC West. That means that they will have to face the Chiefs, Broncos, and Seahawks twice. Denver now has Russell Wilson under center, and we know that the Chiefs will be one of the top teams in the league again.

Things just aren’t shaking out well for the Raiders. While they’ll have a decent record, they won’t win enough games to be a playoff team this season.

Miami Dolphins

Miami made a huge splash in the offseason when the Dolphins acquired Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs. Even though the Dolphins will have an offense filled with good skill players like Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Mike Gesicki, and Chase Edmonds, we still worry that they’ll hit a snag somewhere. The offensive line is suspect at best, and the biggest factor that could keep them out of the playoffs is Tua Tagovailoa. He has yet to prove himself, and the Dolphins have proven in the past that they don’t trust him.

The Dolphins will play in an AFC East that has the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots to contend with. Could the Dolphins win games against those two? Yes they could, but we just don’t see them as a playoff team this season.

Cleveland Browns

Now that the trade has finally happened, the Browns better be worried about their quarterback situation. Earlier today, the Browns traded Baker Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers for a draft pick. With Deshaun Watson likely to miss a good portion, if not all of the season after the NFL suspends him, the Browns quarterback situation could lead to trouble. Jacoby Brissett could end up being the Browns starter.

Even though they’ve made numerous upgrades to their roster, we don’t think that the Browns can make the playoffs with Brissett at quarterback. The AFC North is going to be one of the toughest divisions in football, and the Browns could very well be the third-best team in their division. We just don’t think that Cleveland will have what it takes to make the playoffs.
