Betting 2024 NFL Season

The 2024 NFL season has been wildly unpredictable, and that doesn’t always mean good things for sports bettors.

Betting against the spread has been a challenge, and some bettors are finding that making moneyline picks is the way to go.

There is a full slate of games on tap in Week 6, and there will be some great action throughout the entire weekend.

Instead of trying to bet against the spread, it might be best to simply make some moneyline wagers.

Here is a look at four Week 6 straight up picks that you will want to make.

Writer’s NFL Over/Under Picks for the Fifth Week of the Season

San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks

Sunday, October 6th, 2024

The first game of the weekend will take place on Thursday Night Football, and it’s going to be an interesting matchup between NFC West Division rivals.

Both the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks are struggling, and winning this game is going to be extremely important.

San Francisco is coming into this game as a slim three-point betting favorite, but it’s too hard to trust them at that number.

The 49ers are going to find a way to win this one, but going with the moneyline will be the best course of action.

NFL SU Picks: San Francisco

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Chicago Bears

Sunday, October 6th, 2024

The NFL will have another game in London this weekend, but this time it will be the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears.

Jacksonville was able to get their first win of the NFL season in Week 5, but they are going to have to step up their games in this one.

Caleb Williams is having a massive season for the Chicago Bears Jacksonville Jaguars, and that offense has become a problem for the rest of the league.

The Bears have also been a dominant defensive team, and taking them to win straight up is going to be the play to make.

NFL SU Picks: Chicago

Washington Commanders vs. Baltimore Ravens

Sunday, October 6th, 2024

One of the best games of the weekend will be taking place in Baltimore as the Ravens are set to host the Washington Commanders.

These are two fan bases that love to compete against each other, and bragging rights will be on the line.

Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has been great for the Commanders this season, but he has played some weaker teams.

Daniels will have to step up his game in this one, and he just won’t be able to keep pace with Lamar Jackson.

The Ravens are one of the best teams in the NFL and they will find a way to win this matchup.

NFL SU Picks: Baltimore

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Sunday, October 6th, 2024

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders are two teams that are hard to figure out, and this should be an interesting matchup.

Las Vegas continues to come up with some big performances, while the Steelers have looked like one of the best teams in the league.

This should be an exciting game on Sunday, but there is no way that you can trust either team to win big in this game.

Pittsburgh is the better defensive team, and that will allow them to come up with a win on the road in this game.

NFL SU Picks: Pittsburgh

How does it work?

What is the Difference between Betting Against the Spread and the Moneyline? Let’s Find Out

NFL SU picks, or straight-up picks, refer to wagers placed on which team will win a game outright, without considering the point spread.

This betting strategy can often simplify your choices, especially when you have a clear favorite.

For example, in Week 6, if the Kansas City Chiefs are facing the New York Jets, and you believe the Chiefs will win, you would place a straight-up bet on Kansas City.

Similarly, if the San Francisco 49ers are up against the Minnesota Vikings and you expect the 49ers to secure a victory, you’d pick them straight up as well.

2023 NFL Week 6 SU Picks: With 5 weeks of the current NFL season in the books, I think it’s fair to suggest that a couple of teams have emerged as definite favorites to win the Super Bowl. | NFL Odds, American Football NFL Lines | MyBookie Sportsbook

There are a few more who are sitting just below those teams, but they have not yet done quite enough to convince us all that they have what it takes to win a championship. Things change very quickly in this league, though, so things might look very different a few weeks from now. If we have learned anything from past seasons, it’s that we shouldn’t get too high on any team based on what is still a relatively small sample of games. All we can do for now is look ahead to Week 6 and the games that are coming our way this weekend. That is what we are going to do now as we try to pick a few SU winners for the Week 6.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Indianapolis Colts

NFL Week 6 S/U Picks: Jaguars over Colts
When: Sunday, October 15 at 1:00 PM ET
Where: EverBank Stadium, Jacksonville, FL
TV/Streaming: CBS

The picks that we are going to make here are on games that the bookies have down as being potentially close, as that is where the value lies. The Jaguars are coming off a statement win over the Buffalo Bills, but they are a team that has been wholly unpredictable to this point in the season, going 3-2 in the first 5 weeks. The Colts have the same record and are doing better than most people expected, but I think their bubble is about to burst. They have failed to cover the spread in each of their last 7 visits to Jacksonville, while the Jaguars have won 6 of their last 8 home games. I think the Jags win and cover quite comfortably in this one.

Chicago Bears over Minnesota Vikings

NFL Week 6 S/U Picks: Bears over Vikings
When: Sunday, October 15 at 1:00 PM ET
Where: Soldier Field, Chicago, IL
TV/Streaming: FOX

While the belief was that the Vikings would take a backward step this season, I don’t think anyone saw their decline being quite this bad. They are just 1-4 through the opening 5 weeks of the season, but they have developed a habit of losing close games. The Bears have been pretty poor to this point, but they are coming off a massive win in primetime, taking out the Washington Commanders 40-20 is the Thursday night game in Week 5. Will that win serve as the push they need to get their season back on track or is it nothing more than a minor blip on the radar? While I don’t see the Bears suddenly getting hot over the next month, I do think they win a close one against the Vikings.

Las Vegas Raiders over New England Patriots

NFL Week 6 S/U Picks: Raiders over Patriots
When: Sunday, October 15 at 4:05 PM ET
Where: Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, NV
TV/Streaming: CBS

Fresh off a Monday night win over the Packers, the 2-3 Las Vegas Raiders will hit the road in Week 6 to face a New England Patriots team that is in turmoil. The Patriots are just 1-4 on the season and have seen QB Mac Jones benched in each of the last 2 weeks. He remains the starting QB for now, but he is on a very short leash, and while it seems almost unthinkable given what he has done, you also have to say that Bill Belichick is now on the hot seat. I think that seat might be about to get warmer still, as I like the Raiders to go on the road and win a close one this weekend.

NFL 2021 Season Week 6 SU Betting Picks & Analysis

Previous Betting News

Even with 5 weeks of the NFL season in the books, it is still to early to be overreacting to specific teams. It is easy to get carried away with a great start, or feel panic set in with a slow start, but history has shown that the good teams have a way of finally getting to where we expect them to be. Look at the sports headlines today and you will see all kinds of stories discussing what is wrong with the Kansas City Chiefs. They are last in their division after going 2-3 to start the season, but it is hard to believe that they will still be there a month from now. At the other end, the Arizona Cardinals are 5-0, but they will almost certainly not go unbeaten. As we head into Week 6, it’s time to make our SU picks so you can continue making your bets against the NFL odds. We hit a 3-team parlay last week, so let’s hope for more of the same.

NFL Betting | Straight-Up Picks for Week 6 of the 2021 Season

Indianapolis Colts over Houston Texans

Every year, we have a division that is super competitive and one where it seems as though none of the teams want to win. In the latter category, it looks like the AFC South might be the winner. The Titans are on top with a 3-2 record, while the other 3 teams struggle to find wins. The Colts looked like they were going to pick up their second win of the season on Monday night before gassing a 19-point lead against the Baltimore Ravens. They are back home this weekend and have what looks to be a more manageable game versus the Houston Texans. Houston is just 1-9 SU in their last 10 games overall and have just 1 road win in their last 6.

Kansas City Chiefs over Washington Football Team

As we mentioned at the top of this piece, there are some genuine concerns about the state of the Kansas City Chiefs after starting the season at 2-3. The general consensus that their reliance on Patrick Mahomes to deliver the magic and bail them out has finally caught up to them. The issues probably run a little deeper than that, but this does look like a team that is too good to continue struggling. They will head to the nation’s capital this weekend hoping to get back on track against the Washington Commanders. The Chiefs have gone 11-2 SU in their last 13 road games, so I think it’s more than possible that they make a big statement on Sunday.

Las Vegas Raiders over Denver Broncos

I always like to try and throw an underdog in with my picks, but I do recognize that this might be a bit of an iffy selection. The fact of the matter is that it’s impossible to know how the Raiders players will react after the controversy surrounding Jon Gruden in the midst of his resignation. Will they step up and deliver a big performance that snaps a 2-game losing skid, or will the stink of the situation stick to them just a bit? Well, they have won 4 of the last 5 meetings with the Denver Broncos, while the home team is just 1-4 SU in their last 5 games at Mile High. I’m taking a bit of a risk here, but I’m going with Las Vegas.
