Why Bet on Seattle?
Even with a loss, it has been an incredible season for this season-year franchise. It was one of the league’s worst teams in 2021-22 but now should contend for the foreseeable future.
The Kraken extended the series with a 6-3 home win Saturday. Jordan Eberle (2-1—3) and Eeli Tolvanen (1-2—3) each posted three-point performances while rookies Tye Kartye (1-0—1) and Matty Beniers (1-1—2) both scored. Eberle and Tolvanen became the first two players to record three points in a playoff game with the Kraken. Eberle, who also became the franchise’s second player to register a multi-goal outing in the postseason, overtook Jaden Schwartz (5) for the team lead in goals with six.
Kartye and Beniers became the fifth pair of rookie teammates in the past 10 years to each score in a potential elimination game, joining Kirill Kaprizov and Nico Sturm (Game 5 of 2021 R1 w/ MIN), Jake DeBrusk and Danton Heinen (Game 7 of 2018 R1 w/ BOS), Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson (Game 7 of 2014 R1 w/ LAK) as well as Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat (Game 4 of 2014 R1 w/ TBL).
It was Kartye’s third goal in these playoffs. He’s the fifth skater ever to make their NHL debut in the postseason & score 3-plus goals before skating in a regular-season game. The others are Chris Kreider (5), Eddie Mazur (4), George McPhee (3) & Ray Cote (3).
Philipp Grubauer stopped 20 of 23 shots in Saturday’s win. Grubauer had given up nine goals on just 42 shots over his last two outings and has given up four or more goals in four of the six games against the Stars. The Kraken are the sixth franchise in NHL history to require a Game 7 in each of their first two playoff series and the first since the Minnesota Wild captured both during their run to the Western Conference Final in 2003.
Seattle’s Schwartz and defenseman Vince Dunn are a combined 8-0 in Game 7s, (Schwartz 5-0, Dunn 3-0), including a win over the Stars with the St. Louis Blues in 2019.

Why Bet on Dallas?
Joe Pavelski scored a power-play goal and blocked two shots in Saturday’s 6-3 loss to the Kraken in Game 6. Pavelski tipped in a Miro Heiskanen point shot at 5:37 of the second period. All eight of Pavelski’s goals this postseason have come in six games against the Kraken, a franchise record for goals in a single series, and he’s up to 10 points, 18 shots on net and an even plus-minus rating through seven playoff outings.
Mason Marchment scored a goal on two shots, added four hits and went minus-2 in Saturday’s loss. Marchment missed one game with an upper-body injury he sustained in Game 4. Marchment has four goals, two assists, 27 hits, 11 shots on net, 16 PIM and a minus-4 rating. He remains a key physical contributor in the Stars’ middle six. Joel Kiviranta had the other goal. Tyler Seguin snapped a three-game dry spell by setting up Marchment’s goal in the second period.
Jake Oettinger stopped 14 of 18 shots and his save percentage for the playoffs now sits at .900. He has been pulled twice in this series, but Coach Peter DeBoer said goaltending wasn’t the issue.
“We didn’t give him any help,” DeBoer said. “At that point, you’re looking for a spark for the team and looking down the road to make sure Jake is the fresher goalie for Game 7. All of those things come into play.”
Monday marks the one-year anniversary of the Stars’ most recent Game 7 and the standout performance of goaltender Oettinger (64 saves) in their 3-2 overtime loss at Calgary. Oettinger became the second goaltender to record at least 60 saves in a Game 7, following the New York Islanders’ Kelly Hrudey (73 saves in the ‘Easter Epic’ 1987 Division Semifinals at Washington).
The Stars have skated in three winner-take-call contests in the past four years, with all three decided in overtime away from home. The Stars are vying for their first Game 7 win on home ice since topping the Avalanche in the 2000 Western Conference Final at Reunion Arena.
