2024 The Open

Royal Troon Golf Club is the host of the 2024 Open Championship.

The event is just a couple weeks away, and the field for the event has changed a couple times.

Some additions and some subtractions to the field.

Let’s take a look at the most up to date field for the 2024 Open Championship, and give some of the latest betting odds:

Scottie Scheffler +450

The best player in the world is coming off a playoff win at the Travelers Championship.

He has been incredible this season with six wins on the season, and 13 Top 10 finishes.

Scheffler has 14 Top 25 finishes this season, which is 2nd in all of the PGA Tour.

Anytime there is an event that Scheffler is involved with, he is going to be a major threat.

Rory Mcllroy +700

Rory finished second at the US Open.

It really did not have a ton to do with him, as he went with 69 on the final two days.

He earned more than $2.3M for that finish.

At the Memorial to start June, he went tied for 15th, and at the RBC in Canada, he was tied for fourth. Rory has two wins on the season, and five Top 10 finishes.

Rory at 7/1 is always a good choice when betting on a major.

Bryson DeChambeau +1200

The 30 year old went out and won the US Open at Pinehurst. After that, he tied for third at LIV in Nashville.

He is third in the betting odds to win the Open Championship. It will be fun to follow his progress at Royal Troon.

Always an adventure when DeChambeau is on the course heading into the final weekend.

Xander Schauffele +1400

Xander, at 30 years old, continues to play great golf.

He went for 13th at the Travelers last weekend.

The weekend before, he tied for 7th at the US Open.

Schauffele has one win on the season, but 11 Top 10 finishes.

Schauffele has the most Top 25 finishes in all of the PGA Tour, with 15 on the season.

Ludvig Aberg +1600

The 24 year old from Sweden still has not won an event this season, but has been right on the cusp a few times.

Aberg has 6 Top 10 finishes and 10 Top 25 finishes.

His latest outing at the Travelers was a 27th place finish, as he went with -11.

The US Open went tied for 12th for Aberg.

Collin Morikawa +1600

Morikawa went tied for 13th at the Travelers Championship, and tied for 14th at the US Open.

Morikawa is a 27 year old from California that has been on the PGA Tour since 2019.

He comes into the event listed at 16/1 odds to win.

Others to Consider:

  • Viktor Hovland +1800
  • Jon Rahm +2000
  • Cameron Smith +2200
  • Tommy Fleetwood +2200
  • Brooks Koepka +2500
  • Tyrell Hatton +3000
  • Patrick Cantlay +3000
  • Matt Fitzpatrick +3000
  • Hideki Matsuyama +3000
  • Shan Lowry +3500
  • Tony Finau +4000
  • Tom Kim +4000
  • Max Homa +4000
  • Justin Thomas +4000
  • Jordan Spieth +4000
  • Joaquin Niemann +400
  • Wyndham Clark +5000
  • Min Woo Lee +5000
  • Will Zalatoris +5000
  • Dustin Johnson +5500

There you have it. That is the updated field for the 2024 Open Championship. We are super excited for the event, and look forward to seeing some excellent golf. Enjoy the event and best of luck with all your PGA Tour golfing!

The Open Championship Odds Changes

The players at the top remain the same, but the odds have shifted slightly over the last week. Rory McIlroy remains the early favorite, and his odds have improved from +800 to +720. Scottie Scheffler has jumped Jon Rahm for the second spot on the odds board and can be grabbed at +880 one week out. Rahm’s odds dropped from +900 to +970 over the last week.

Brooks Kopeka and defending champion Cameron Smith saw their odds increase over the last seven days. Kopeka’s odds edged up from +1400 to +1350, while Smith saw a nice climb from +1800 to +1475.

Norway’s Viktor Hovland dropped from +1800 to +1825, while Jordan Spieth saw his odds increase from +2000 to +1850.

The Open Championship Betting Favorites

We touched on the top favorites above, but the clear favorites heading into next week’s major remains McIlroy, Scheffler, and Rahm.

McIlroy holds one Open Championship title, and it came on this course nine years ago. The four-time major winner held off Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia for a two-shot victory.

Scheffler and Rahm are major winners, but both vying for their first Claret Jug. Scheffler has found himself on the first page of the final leaderboard in 18-straight events, highlighted by victories at WM Phoenix Open and THE PLAYERS Championship. Scheffler finished T10 at Augusta, T2 at the PGA Championship, and solo third at the U.S. Open this season.

Rahm has played in just six events since winning his second major and first Masters title. The Spaniard’s best result in those six starts was a solo second at the Mexico Open. Rahm’s best finish at an Open Championship came two years ago when he finished T3, his only T10 in six starts.
