MLS Season So Far

With Inter Miami at the helm, will they maintain their lead, or will a challenger emerge from the pack?

Several intriguing matchups hold the potential to shift the power dynamic.

Informed analysis of these clashes, coupled with a deep understanding of the latest betting MLS lines, can equip you to make strategic wagers and potentially celebrate alongside winning bets!

The midway point of the MLS regular season is nearly upon us.Many teams have already put themselves in a solid position to make a run at the MLS Cup.

However, there is still plenty of room to make a move and try to improve someone’s seed for a run in the postseason.

This weekend, a pair of Eastern Conference contenders in New York City FC and Columbus will meet to try and establish themselves in a better spot to win a title.

Here’s a look at what to expect for this weekend.

NYCFC is Back on the Gas

Friday, June 14th, 2024

New York City FC was ashamed of missing out on the postseason last year.

However, the Cityzens showed that was just a blip on the radar of what the MLS hopes can be one of their signature franchises.

NYCFC has already equaled its win total from last season, nine, in just 16 matches so far this season.

NYCFC is +107 on the three-way moneyline tonight to keep the momentum going against the defending MLS Cup champions, the Columbus Crew.

The Crew hit a really rough stretch in April, going through a seven-match winless streak.

Being forced to settle for draws in five of those matches saw Columbus sink in the standings.

While the Crew have won three straight matches to move up to seventh place in the standings, they will still have some work to do.

Columbus is starting difficult back-to-back games, playing NYCFC and Inter Miami.

The Crew is +220 to win this match in regulation, while the match is +270 to end in a draw.

The over/under has been set at 2.5 goals.

NYCFC has been stingy on defense, limiting opponents to 17 goals in 16 matches.

While Columbus has scored two or more goals in three straight matches, this one may be worth backing to stay under the total.

MLS Pick: Columbus Crew

Inter Miami Has Weakened Roster

Saturday, June 15th, 2024

The Philadelphia Union has been forced to settle for more draws than it would have liked this season.

Thanks to piling up eight ties, the Union is in eighth place and is in a difficult battle for the postseason.

Philadelphia will get a break when it plays against the Eastern Conference-leading Inter Miami this weekend.

The Union are -110 to win on the three-way moneyline thanks to Inter Miami stars Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez being away on international duty in Copa America.

Matias Rojas will also be out for Copa America for Inter Miami.

The Herons have been on the road, going unbeaten in their previous five road matches.

However, without Messi and Suarez, it’s hard to want to back Inter Miami at +260 to win this match in regulation.

This match is +280 to end in a draw.

MLS Pick: Draw

Can FC Cincinnati Grab Win on the Road?

Saturday, June 15th, 2024

FC Cincinnati is in a great position to pressure Inter Miami for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Orange and Blue have two games in hand on the Herons and only trail by two points in the standings.

FC Cincinnati has only allowed 16 goals so far this season.

The Orange and Blue are +145 on the three-way moneyline to take on the San Jose Earthquakes.

The Earthquakes, who are +170 to win at home, have hit a rough run of play.

San Jose has lost three of its previous four matches.

The Earthquakes have allowed two or more goals in three of the past five matches.

This may be a good spot to back FC Cincinnati to win on the road.

MLS Pick: FC Cincinnati

Top 2021 MLS Games To Wager On From July 3 to July 4

Previous Betting News

It’s Independence Day in the U.S. To celebrate, Major League Soccer has a full slate of games on Saturday and three matches on Sunday. Check out MLS odds, analysis, and free picks for ten of this weekend’s top Major League Soccer matches.

Top MLS Games of The Week to Bet On (July 3rd – July 4th)

Saturday, July 3rd Matches

New England Revolution +200 / Columbus Crew +121

The Crew head into this having lost to Philadelphia Union 0-1 on June 23 and drawing with Austin FC 0-0 on June 27. New England Revolution dropped their June 27 match 1-2 versus Philadelphia Union. New England won the head-to-head on May 16. The Revolution has a chance.

Soccer Pick: New England Revolution

Toronto FC +309 / DC United -116

Toronto FC has lost 5 straight. DC United shows a loss and a draw in their last couple of matches. These two drew twice in the last two head-to-head. Both matches happened in 2020. The odds make DC United an underlay, but Toronto FC has played awful. Another draw is a possibility.

Soccer Pick: Draw

Inter Miami CF +175 / CF Montreal +150

CF Montreal shows a win and 2 draws in their last 3 while Inter Miami has lost 4 straight. On May 12, Montreal beat Miami 2-0. CF Montreal is at home and offers +150? We’re on it.

Soccer Pick: CF Montreal

New York Red Bulls +330 / Orlando City SC -136

The Red Bulls last victory was on June 18. NYRB beat Nashville SC 2-0. Orlando City shows 4 wins and a loss in their last 5. It’s always tough laying odds, but Orlando should have no problem winning this home match versus their struggling opponent.

Soccer Pick: Orlando City FC

Atlanta United FC +225 / Chicago Fire +110

On June 26, Chicago drew 3-3 versus Philadelphia Union, which is why the Fire is the favorite in this match. Atlanta United shows better form with 4 draws and a loss in their last 5. ATL U also won the last head-to-head on April 24 and it wasn’t close. Backing the road dog.

Soccer Pick: Atlanta United

Philadelphia Union +270 / Nashville SC +102

Both teams are in good enough form to win this. Nashville has a victory and a draw in their last couple. Philly Union has won 3 and drawn twice in their last 5. The odds don’t justify a bet on Nashville. Give Philadelphia a shot.

Soccer Pick: Philadelphia Union

FC Cincinnati +270 / Houston Dynamo -105

The Dynamo head into this having drawn in their last 3 matches. Cincinnati has won back-to-back. Although Houston deserves favoritism, FC Cincy shouldn’t offer +270. Here’s another MLS match where backing the underdog makes sense.

Soccer Pick: FC Cincinnati

Los Angeles FC +124 / Real Salt Lake +185

LAFC’s form is spotty at best. It’s also difficult to use the head-to-head to handicap this match. Real Salt Lake beat Los Angeles FC 3-0 on Sep. 9. LAFC returned the favor with a 3-1 victory on Oct. 4. Real Salt Lake battles Los Angeles FC on their pitch. Home grass advantage could be the difference.

Soccer Pick: Real Salt Lake

Sunday, July 4th Matches

Seattle Sounders +190 / Colorado Rapids +119

The Sounders have 3 draws and a couple of wins in their last 5. Although they play against a strong Colorado squad in decent form, the odds make Seattle an overlay. The Sounders can upset the Rapids, which is why they’re a great play at +190 odds.

Soccer Pick: Seattle Sounders

Sporting Kansas City +142 / Los Angeles Galaxy +154

Both teams are on a 2-match winning streak. Sporting KC and the Galaxy have also both won 3-of-5. Kansas City is the slight favorite. LAG plays this on their pitch. The home team gets the nod.

Soccer Pick: Los Angeles Galaxy

2023 Updated Field for The Open Championship and Betting Favorites

Previous Betting News

We are under two weeks away from the final major tournament of the 2023 calendar year when the world’s best golfers tee it up at Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake, England for the 151st Open Championship. Royal Liverpool will host the Open Championship for the 13th time and first since 2014.

The first round of the event begins on Thursday, July 20th, and ends on Sunday, July 23rd.

With just two week remaining, we take a look at Open news and dive into the updated field and The Open Championship betting lines.

The Open Championship | 151st edition of the PGA Tour golf tournament
Royal Liverpool Golf Club | Wirral, England
Sunday, July 16th, 2023 – Sunday, July 23rd, 2023

The Open Championship Odds Changes

The players at the top remain the same, but the odds have shifted slightly over the last week. Rory McIlroy remains the early favorite, and his odds have improved from +800 to +720. Scottie Scheffler has jumped Jon Rahm for the second spot on the odds board and can be grabbed at +880 one week out. Rahm’s odds dropped from +900 to +970 over the last week.

Brooks Kopeka and defending champion Cameron Smith saw their odds increase over the last seven days. Kopeka’s odds edged up from +1400 to +1350, while Smith saw a nice climb from +1800 to +1475.

Norway’s Viktor Hovland dropped from +1800 to +1825, while Jordan Spieth saw his odds increase from +2000 to +1850.

The Open Championship Betting Favorites

We touched on the top favorites above, but the clear favorites heading into next week’s major remains McIlroy, Scheffler, and Rahm.

McIlroy holds one Open Championship title, and it came on this course nine years ago. The four-time major winner held off Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia for a two-shot victory.

Scheffler and Rahm are major winners, but both vying for their first Claret Jug. Scheffler has found himself on the first page of the final leaderboard in 18-straight events, highlighted by victories at WM Phoenix Open and THE PLAYERS Championship. Scheffler finished T10 at Augusta, T2 at the PGA Championship, and solo third at the U.S. Open this season.

Rahm has played in just six events since winning his second major and first Masters title. The Spaniard’s best result in those six starts was a solo second at the Mexico Open. Rahm’s best finish at an Open Championship came two years ago when he finished T3, his only T10 in six starts.

Updated Field

Final Qualifying for the Open Championship took place on July 4th and four locations, Dundonald Links, Royal Cinque Ports, Royal Porthcawl, and West Lancashire. Nineteen spots were handed out to players not already in the field.

The four golfers from Dundonald Links were Michael Stewart, Marco Penge, Conner McKinney, and Graeme Roberston. Five players from Royal Cinque Ports earned a spot in next week’s field; those players included Martin Rohwer, Thomas Detry, 2011 Masters champion Charl Schwartzel, Branden Grace, and Antoine Rozner.

From final qualifying at Royal Porthcawl, we saw Laurie Canter lead the way with a 36-hole score of eight-under. Joining Canter was Brandon Robinson Thompson, Matthew Southgate, Jazz Janewattananond, and Oliver Farr. The final five players in from West Lancashire were Matt Wallace, Matthew Jordan, Kyle Barker, Alex Fitzpatrick (the brother of Matthew Fitzpatrick), and amateur Tiger Christensen.

MLS Matchday 19: June 17-22, 2023

New England Revolution vs. Orlando City SC | Big Week for Orlando

MLS Odds: New England -0.5 -121; Orlando City -0.5 +105 / New England -116; Orlando City +310; Draw +275 / O/U 2.5
Gillette Stadium | Foxborough, Massachusetts
Saturday, June 17, 2023, 7:30 pm ET

Orlando City is one of the teams hit hard by the international break. They lose leading scorer Facundo Torres and goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, and they have two games this week against top-four Eastern Conference teams.

Orlando City is unbeaten in their last six games, and they have two straight shutouts. They are the best road team in the MLS, with 14 points and 13 goals in seven games away from home. But that record will be put to the test on Saturday as they head to New England, unbeaten at home this season.

Orlando City has never won at Gillette Stadium, and MyBookie has them at +300 to win on Saturday. New England is -114 with a draw at +275.

On the heels of facing New England, Orlando returns home to face the other team tied for third place in the East, Philadelphia Union. Wednesday night’s game is the second meeting between these teams in 2023, with Orlando winning on the road 2-1 in March. Last year, Philadelphia won in Florida 1-0 and then routed the Lions 5-1 at home six weeks later.

The Union do not play this weekend and will be fully rested with 11 days between games as they head to Orlando. MyBookie has Orlando at +127 on the money line, with the Union at +197 and a draw at +295.

Nashville SC vs. St. Louis City | East-West Showdown in Nashville

MLS Odds: Nashville -0.5 -152; St. Louis -0.5 +119 / Nashville -147; St. Louis +390; Draw +295 / O/U 2.5
GEODIS Park | Nashville, Tennessee
Saturday, June 17, 2023, 8:30 pm ET

Two of the hottest teams in the league face off Saturday night in Nashville as St. Louis City FC makes their first-ever trip to GEODIS Park. While St. Louis has struggled on the road in recent weeks, they are atop the Western Conference and lead MLS in both goals scored per game and goal differential. Meanwhile, Nashville is second in differential, and they lead MLS in allowing just 12 goals in 17 games.

Hany Mukhtar is on fire for Nashville, with five goals and four assists in his last five home games. He is among the league leaders overall with ten goals and seven assists on the season and is a big reason why Nashville is attempting to set a franchise record with their 10th straight game unbeaten.

St. Louis has been awesome at home but scored only once in their last four road games. They will face a Nashville team without centerback Walker Zimmerman, and they will need keeper Roman Burki to be at his best against the Nashville attack.

MyBookie has Nashville at -147 on the money line with St. Louis at +390. A draw is +295 between the second-place team in the East and the top team in the West.

Sporting Kansas City vs, Los Angeles FC | LAFC Trying to Find Itself

MLS Odds: Kansas City +0.5 -190; LAFC -0.5 +148 / Kansas City +171; LAFC +156; Draw +244 / O/U 2.5
Children’s Mercy Park | Kansas City, Kansas
Saturday, June 17, 2023, 8:30 pm ET

The last month has been a disaster for LAFC. The defending champions were flying high atop the West and cruising through the CONCACAF Champions League before falling apart in mid-May. They have lost five of their last six games with a 0-0 draw to Atlanta mixed in, and they have also gone four straight games without a goal as they enter Matchday 19.

First up for LAFC this week is a trip to Sporting KC, who has won three of their last four games to climb from last place to ninth place in the West. SKC earned a 1-1 draw in Los Angeles in May, and four of their five wins this season have come at home.

LAFC is +168 to win in Kansas City, a place where they were 2-0 winners last year. SKC is +156 at home, and a draw is +250.

After the game on Saturday, LAFC returns home for a top-four showdown with Seattle Sounders on Wednesday night. The Sounders enter the matchweek two points ahead of LAFC, but they won’t play on the weekend and could be behind LAFC before this game.

LAFC has five wins at home this season but none since early May. Seattle is 3-3 on the road with two draws. They will be missing a few key players like Jordan Morris, Cristian Roldan, and Alex Roldan; all called up for the Gold Cup by their nations.

These teams drew 0-0 in Seattle on March 18, and at MyBookie, another draw is +244. LAFC is favored at -165, while Kansas Cityis +171 to take all three points after having ten days between games.
