ATP 2024 Dallas Open Betting Favorites and Analysis

The Dallas Open, which begins Monday at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex, is a relatively new tournament on the ATP Tour. An indoor hard court tournament that’s part of the ATP 250 Series, the tournament was first held in 2022, replacing the New York Open and bringing the ATP Tour back to Dallas for the first time since 1983. American Reilly Opelka won the inaugural event and Wu Yibing won last year. Neither play is in this year’s draw.

Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming 2024 Dallas Open tournament so you can bet against ATP betting lines along with a look at each of the top three seeds and a prediction for the final..

Dallas Open Top 3 Players

Frances Tiafoe

Frances Tiafoe, when he puts it all together, is one of the toughest players to beat on the ATP Tour. Unfortunately, he hasn’t started this season as good as he would have liked as he is just 2-2, but is coming off of a career-best year in which he won two titles, albeit on grass and clay. He had a disappointing showing at the Australian Open, losing to Tomas Machac in straight sets in the Round of 64.

Tiafoe is one of four players to earn a bye into the second round, where he will face the winner of Alex Michelsen and one of the four qualifiers. He has a relatively easy path to reaching the semifinals with sixth seed Max Purcell as perhaps the only real threat to beating him. Tiafoe lost in the semifinals at last year’s Dallas Open.

Tommy Paul

Paul, the second seed in the tournament, will play the winner of Taro Daniel and Constant Lestienne in the second round. Like Tiafoe, he has a decent path to the semis; Rinky Hijikata, Ethan Quinn, Aleksandar Kovavcevic, and Dominik Koepfer are others in his quarter of the bracket.

Paul, who did not participate in the Dallas Open last year, is currently ranked 15th in the world, down three spots from his career-best ranking. He’s 3-2 this season and hasn’t won a title since 2021 in Stockholm, which was the only win of his career. He’s coming off of a Round of 32 loss to Miomir Kecmanovic at the Australian Open.

Ben Shelton

Shelton is arguably the most attractive betting pick for the 2024 Dallas Open as he had a strong finish to a breakthrough campaign in 2023 and has shown the ability to rise to the occasion with crowd support – the American rose to prominence with his star-making performance at the 2023 US Open, where he reached the semifinals. He’ll play the winner of Michael Mmoh and one of the four qualifiers in the second round.

Shelton is 4-3 this season and coming off of a Round of 32 loss at the Australian Open to Adrian Mannarino, who he could meet in the final in Dallas with the chance to win his second career title.

Dallas Open Finals Prediction

Shelton has fared well against opponents ranked outside of the top-20 dating back to last season and won’t face a top-20 opponent until the semifinals, assuming Paul wins two matches. He has a real chance to make a statement this week and cement his status as one of the future stars of the sport.

2023 ATP 250 Predictions: Cordoba Open and Dallas Open Odds

Previous Betting News

On the ATP Tour, the Cordoba Open in Argentina and the Dallas Open in the United States are both underway. The events both started on Monday with first-round matches, which continue on Tuesday. The fields in both tournaments are set up with 28 players, and the top four seeds get first-round byes.

Both of these events are ATP 250 events, meaning they are worth 250 points, 1/4th of what a Masters 1000 event is worth. They are the third tier of non-Grand Slam ATP Tour events, below the 1000 and 500 events, and as a result, the fields are smaller and without the biggest names.

MyBookie has ATP odds on all the tennis action for the week, so let’s take a look at Tuesday’s schedules in the Cordoba Open and Dallas Open.

Tennis Predictions: ATP 250 – Cordoba Open and Dallas Open

Top Seeds on Bye

The top four seeds in both events will not be in action until Wednesday as they get a bye in the first round and start playing in the Round of 16 at both events.

The Cordoba Open is played on clay courts in Argentina, and three of the top four seeds are Argentinian. David Schwarzman is the top seed for the second year in a row, with Francisco Cerundolo at No. 2 and Sebastian Baez at No. 4. Spaniard and defending champion Albert Ramos Vinolas is the No. 3 seed.

The Dallas tournament started last year and is played on hard courts at the campus of Southern Methodist University. Taylor Fritz is the top seed, with fellow American Frances Tiafoe as the No. 2 seed. Denis Shapovalov is the No. 3 seed, with Miomir Kecmanovic the No. 4 seed.

Keep an eye on Vinolas to make some noise in Cordoba, as he’s reached the final two years in a  row. In Dallas, Tiafoe and No. 6 seed J.J. Wolf are coming off great runs at the Australian Open, while No. 5 seed John Isner and No. 7 seed Marcos Giron both reached the semis of the event last year.

Mmoh a Frisky Underdog

At the Dallas Open, American Michael Mmoh is a first-round underdog at +108 against Yibing Wu, -138. Mmoh made a run to the third round of the Australian Open as a qualifier and is off to a 3-2 start to the season, raising his ranking to 86th. Wu is 0-1 on the season and ranked 97th.

These two have never met on the ATP Tour. Mmoh, who beat Alexander Zverev last month in Melbourne, will have the backing of the partisan American crowd in Dallas and should move on to face No. 3 Shapovalov.

Thompson in a Good Spot

Australian Jordan Thompson started his season 0-2, including a four-set loss to J.J. Wolf in the Australian Open. Denis Kudla got into the AO draw as a lucky loser and won his first-round match before falling to Ugo Humbert. Kudla also won a singles match in the Davis Cup last weekend as the U.S. beat Uzbekistan on the road.

Thompson is the favorite here at -136, and he’s ranked 84th in the world to Kudla’s 92nd. Thompson has won three of their four matchups, including a straight-sets win in the final of the Surbiton Challenger last summer. Look for Thompson to make it four wins over Kudla and move into the second round.

Martinez Ready to Move On

In Cordoba, No. 7 seed Pedro Martinez is an underdog in the first round against Cristian Garin. Martinez is +101, while Garin is -126 in their opening-round match. On the season, Martinez has a 2-2 ATP record, while Garin is 1-2.

These two have met four times, and while Garin holds a 3-1 lead, Martinez won the most recent matchup. That victory came at the Miami Masters last year, in straight sets, and look for Martinez to get another win in the first round in Argentina.

Cachin Can Make Waves

The No. 5 seed, Pedro Cachin, is an underdog on Tuesday against qualifier Hugo Dellien in the Cordoba Open. Dellien won his way into the main draw over the weekend and is ranked 138th on the season with a 0-1 ATP record. Yet, he is -188 against the No. 5 seed Cachin who is +144.

Cachin is ranked 66th in the world and beat Dellien in the same round at this tournament three years ago, 6-1, 6-1. While both are looking for their first official win of 2023, Cachin has the experience and the talent to move into the second round.

Previous Betting News

The 2022 Dallas Open is a new stop on the ATP Tour and will serve as a replacement tournament for the New York Open, which has struggled to attract decent crowds over the three years it’s been running. So instead, the competition moved to south Texas in hopes to see a better turnaround at the SMU Tennis Complex.

And just like we can expect the Dallas Open to be more attractive to tennis spectators, so are there plenty of excellent betting options for us to explore. And we will take a look at a few with our Tennis Betting preview for the 2022 Dallas Open, where we provide you with our picks for you to bet on with ATP Betting Odds.

He might bounce back, but we have not seen enough from him to expect Isner to be a threat for the ATP Dallas 2022 title this week.

2022 Dallas Open Tournament Expert Analysis | Tennis Betting

Taylor Fritz

Taylor Fritz is the bookie’s favorite to win the 2022 Dallas Open, which makes sense. The 24-year-old had a phenomenal run through the second half of the last season when he beat Norrie and Auger-Aliassime at the ATP Cup and then reached the fourth round of the Australian Open before he had to admit defeat to Tsitsipas.

While Fritz surely hoped for a deeper run in Australia, his performances saw him jump up the ladder into the world’s top 20 players for the first time of his career. He’ll open the Dallas Open against Oscar Otte or Jack Sock before he likely clashes with Marcos Giron in the QF.

With that in mind, it’s fair to say that Fritz has a fairly easy road to the finals and is definitely an appealing pick on the outright betting markets. And even though he has yet to win indoors on the ATP Tour, Fritz has two runner-up finishes and looks to be in great form.

He might bounce back, but we have not seen enough from him to expect Isner to be a threat for the ATP Dallas 2022 title this week.

Maxime Cressy

Priced as high as +650, Maxime Cressy is our second player to watch out for. Admittedly, he will have to fight his way past Reilly Opelka, but he’s a good bet at the offered odds.

Cressy is a three-time indoor winner at Challenger level and has had a solid showing in Australia, where he won 11/14 matches. He was a runner-up in Melbourne, made a QF run in Sydney, and reached the last-16 at the Australian Open.

Most notably, he beat Isner and Opelka in Australia, which are two players he could face this week, so he should feel confident in his chances to make a splash. Barring any surprise results, Cressy will likely meet Isner in the QF and Opelka in the semis, and if he can recreate his showing from the Land Down under, Cressy should be in a good spot to at least make the finals in Dallas.

He might bounce back, but we have not seen enough from him to expect Isner to be a threat for the ATP Dallas 2022 title this week.

Yoshihito Nishioka

For those looking for a longshot bet, Yoshihito Nishioka is the man for you. He is priced as high as +1800 on most bookies, which is a bit too high considering he has made the final of the Challenger events in Cleveland and Columbus and won the latter.

What’s more, Nishioka is a highly experienced indoors player and tens to perform best on quick surfaces. To confirm that, his only ATP crown came in Shenzen, one of the fastest outdoor hardcourts, and he also made QF at the Cincinnati Masters back in 2019. Adding to that, Nishioka has made QF in Singapore while playing on indoor courts.

Fatigue could be an issue, knowing that Nishioka has only recently finished competing in Cleveland and concluded his title-winning run in Columbus last week. But if he can stay fit, Nishioka could make some serious noise in Texas.

Previous Betting News

MyBookie brings you a free tennis betting preview and predictions for the 2022 ATP Dallas Open, slated for February 7-13 at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex in Dallas, United States.

The 2022 Dallas Open will mark the second edition of the indoor hard court tournament, which is a part of the ATP 250 series on the 2022 ATP Tour, and the first Dallas Open since 1983, when Andrés Gómez defeated Brian David Teacher in the finals with 6-7, 6-1, 6-1.

So while the last edition of the Dallas Open can’t serve as a form guide for this tournament, there are a few tennis players that caught out attention and you should look out for.

So let’s get into our betting preview for the event, where we provide you with all the information you’ll need to place bets on the ATP Betting Odds.

He might bounce back, but we have not seen enough from him to expect Isner to be a threat for the ATP Dallas 2022 title this week.

Players To Watch

He might bounce back, but we have not seen enough from him to expect Isner to be a threat for the ATP Dallas 2022 title this week.

Taylor Fritz

Taylor Fritz enters the 2022 Dallas Open as the tournament’s top-seeded player and the current world no.20. But not only is Fritz a top-seeded player, but he has also shown enough so far this season to be considered as one of the favorites to hoist the trophy in Dallas.

He kicked off the 2022 season with a solid performance at the ATP Cup, where he beat Auger-Aliassime (6-7, 6-4, 6-4) and Norrie (7-6, 3-6, 6-1) and put on a show against Zverev (4-6, 4-6).

After a solid performance at the ATP Cup, Fritz reached R4 of the 2022 Australian Open, with wins against Marterer (7-6, 6-3, 6-2), Tiafoe (6-4, 6-4. 7-6), and Bautista Agut (6-0, 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3).

Even though he couldn’t make it past Tsitsipas (6-4, 4-6, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6), Fritz has proven that he can compete with some of the world’s best players and looks ready for a breakthrough season.

He might bounce back, but we have not seen enough from him to expect Isner to be a threat for the ATP Dallas 2022 title this week.

Reilly Opelka

The current world no.24 has achieved less than his compatriot this season, but Reilly Opelka has had his moments in Australia. He made it to R3 of the 2022 Australian Open with wins against Anderson (6-3, 6-4, 7-6), Koepfer (6-4, 6-3. 7-6), and only lost against Shapovalov (6-7, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6) in a very close match.

One thing that could concern you is that Opelka has lost his last three meetings with his former doubles partner, so Opelka will likely draw the short end of the stick if the two meet. But with the improvement he has shown of late, there’s a good chance we might see Opelka produce a deep run in Dallas.

He might bounce back, but we have not seen enough from him to expect Isner to be a threat for the ATP Dallas 2022 title this week.

John Isner

The former eighth-best player in the world and the current world no.24, John Isner, will want to make a splash in Dallas and bounce back from his somewhat unconvincing start to the season. The 36-year-old has played five games so far in 2022 and won only one – against world no.239 Brayden Schnur.

In the remaining four, Isner lost against Struff, Evans, Kokkinakis, and Cressy, who eliminated him from the first round of the 2022 Australian Open with 7-6, 7-5, 6-7, 6-7, 6-4. Admittedly, a few poor showings don’t mean much, but it’s fair to feel concerned about Isner and his chances to make a splash in Dallas.

Although a highly experienced player, Isner hasn’t produced anything of note since his semi-finals appearance in Wimbledon back in 2018. Furthermore, his record across the last 15 outings show only three wins, and Isner hasn’t been impressive with his performances since August 2021, when he made semis in Toronto.
