Betting 2024 Rothesay International
The Rothesay International Eastbourne, an ATP/WTA tournament, begins Monday at Devonshire Park LTC in Eastbourne, United Kingdom.
The grass court tournament is a WTA 500 event and part of the ATP 250 series.
It’s one of two ATP grass court events this week as players gear up for Wimbledon, which begins on July 1.
Let’s take a look at the top players in the tournament and come up with a potential winner.
Rothesay International Top 3 Seeds
Taylor Fritz
Taylor Fritz is the 12th-ranked player in the world and the first seed in Eastbourne.
He’s coming off a quarter-final exit at the Cinch Championships in London and reached the fourth round at Roland Garros in his previous event.
He’s 26-12 this season, including 2-1 on grass courts. He is 15-9 on grass courts in the past four seasons combined.
Tommy Paul
Tommy Paul is having a breakthrough season on the ATP Tour.
The 27-year-old American is 27-10 this season, including 6-1 on grass, and won his second and third ATP Tour titles.
He won early this season in Dallas, beating Fritz in the final, and is coming off of his first grass court title at the Cinch Championships in London, where he beat Lorenzo Musetti in the final.
Alexander Bublik
Alexander Bublik, the 17th-ranked player in the world, has alternated wins and losses for the last eight matches and is 21-14 overall this season.
He’s coming off a second-round exit at ATP Halle, where he lost to Christopher Eubanks.
Bublik has been a strong grass court player in the last few seasons, going a combined 25-11 since the start of the 2021 season.
Rothesay International Potential Upsets
Francisco Cerundolo (+110) vs. Marcos Giron (-145)
Francisco Cerundolo is the fifth seed in the tournament and the world No. 27, ranked 19 spots ahead of Marcos Giron in the world rankings.
Yet, Giron is the slight betting favorite, which seems strange considering he is 14-16 this season and had a losing record on grass courts in each of the last two seasons.
Cerundolo, meanwhile, is 16-17 this season and was 6-2 last year on grass courts.
Cameron Norrie (-190) vs. Emil Ruusuvuori (+140)
There’s a strong upset possibility in the first-round match between Cameron Norrie and Emil Ruusuvuori.
Norrie is having a down year in 2024 with a 15-13 record and has lost consecutive matches, including a first-round match in London where he allowed an ATP 3-set record 47 aces against Milos Raonic.
That’s not exactly a great confidence booster for a player who hasn’t been at his best this season.
Ruusuvuori also beat Norrie in their last meeting in Atlanta in 2021.
Rothesay International Finals Prediction
Americans have fared well this season and I’d expect that to continue in Eastbourne, with Fritz winning the top half of the bracket.
He’ll have a favorable second-round match against either Thiago Seyboth Wild or James McCabe and could then play the winner of Norrie-Ruusuvuori and Tomas Etcheverry and qualifier Juncheng Shang.
It’d be tough to expect Paul to get back to another final after winning in London on Sunday, so the door could be open for someone like Flavio Cobolli, who recently reached a career-best world No. 49, is 16-15 this season and has wins against quality players like Ben Shelton, Nicolas Jarry, and Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Pick: Fritz def. Cobolli

The Eastbourne International 2023, also known as ATP Rothesay, began on Sunday at Devonshire Park Tennis in the United Kingdom. It’s one of two ATP 250 grass court tournaments taking place this week, with the other being ATP Mallorca in Spain. The field is much stronger at Eastbourne, however, with six players competing ranked inside the top 40.
That said, let’s take a closer look at the upcoming Rothesay International so you can bet against the ATP betting lines.

Eastbourne International 2023: Past Winners
Held every year since 1974, Eastbourne is a popular warm-up event ahead of Wimbledon, which begins next week. American Taylor Fritz, who headlines the field in this year’s event, is the defending champion. He beat Maxime Cressey in last year’s final and also won in 2019. Other past winners include Alex de Minaur, a late withdrawal in this year’s tournament, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Roddick.
Eastbourne International 2023: Breaking Down the Draw
Fritz, the top seed in the tournament, receives a bye into the second round in the top half of the draw and will play the winner of Marco Cecchinato and Mackenzie McDonald. Botic van de Zandschulp and Francisco Cerundolo are the biggest obstacles in his way en route to the finals.
Tommy Paul is the top seed in the bottom half of the draw and will play Sebastian Baez in the second round. Nicolas Jarry, through a bye, and JJ Wolf, who beat Tomas Etcheverry in the first round, are also through to the second round.
Betting Opportunities for this Tournament
Liam Broady (-250) vs. Jan Choinski (+200)
There will be at least one player representing the UK in the second round as Liam Broady and Jan Choinski compete for the right to play the winner of Mikael Ymer and van de Zandschulp. Broady is just 1-3 in ATP Tour matches this season and hasn’t performed much better in Challenger events. He’s the more well-known player, but there’s definite value in betting on the underdog Choinski.
Choinski played well in ITF and Challenger events early this season but has been struggling as of late. He’s 25-19 this season compared to Broady, who is 22-13. Choinski is five inches taller than Broady, which should allow him to get to otherwise hard-to-reach balls on the grass court. Both players are 1-3 on grass this season.

Marco Cecchinato (+450) vs. Mackenzie McDonald (-700)
This is another strong upset possibility. McDonald has been the better player this season but not by a wide margin. They’re actually quite comparable in terms of their career records, record on grass, and in head-to-head matches. McDonald beat Cecchinato in the first round at the Australian Open in 2021, but Cecchinato beat McDonald earlier this year at the ATP Masters 1000 Rome.
Cecchinato is also a three-time winner on the ATP Tour, while McDonald has never won. He has lost his last three matches, but has wins this season over opponents like Ben Shelton, Roberto Bautista Agut, Marton Fucsovics, and Diego Schwartzman. Expect a three-set match against McDonald.
