Betting 2024 Wimbledon

Defending Wimbledon Carlos Alcaraz has stamped his ticket to the third round.

On Friday, Alcaraz takes on France Tiafoe in a rematch of their fantastic 2022 U.S.

Open throw down that Alcaraz won. Tiafoe is a huge +6.5 spread line underdog.

Also on Friday at Wimbledon’s third round, Jasmine Paolini takes on Bianca Andreescu in a massive WTA match.

Check out tennis odds, analysis, and free picks for Wimbledon’s Round 3 happening on Friday, July 5.

Betting Wimbledon Third Round – Men’s Singles

Brandon Nakashima -106 vs Ugo Humbert -125

Friday, July 5th, 2024

In two matches over the grass courts, slight underdog Brandon Nakashima has been terrific.

The American beat 18-seed Sebastian Baez and Jordan Thompson in straight sets.

Ugo Humbert struggled in both of his matches.

Humbert has won 2 singles titles this season and has a great singles record in 2024.

But Nakashima is playing better tennis.

Wimbledon Pick: Brandon Nakashima

Tommy Paul -164 vs Alexander Bublik +123

Friday, July 5th, 2024

To get by Jakub Mensik in the first round, Alexander Bublik required 5 sets and a tiebreaker.

Then in the second round, Bublik beat Arthur Cazaux after 3 sets and a tiebreaker.

Tommy Paul required 5 sets to get by Otto Virtanen in his last.

Both will be tired in this.

Paul gets the nod because he’s had a decent 2024 with 2 singles title victories.

Wimbledon Pick:

Carlos Alcaraz -6.5 -135 vs Frances Tiafoe +6.5 +110

Friday, July 5th, 2024

Tiafoe heads into his matchup versus Alcaraz after playing great tennis against both Matteo Arnaldi and Borna Coric.

Coric and Arnaldi are skillful players.

So Frances’s victories are legit.

But going from Coric to Alcaraz is a major forward step.

The French Open winner appears to have hit his stride.

Alcaraz didn’t miss a beat in his first two matches.

Carlos covers the spread.

Wimbledon Pick: Carlos Alcaraz -6.5

Wimbledon Third Round – Women’s Singles

Marta Kostyuk +3.5 +104 vs Madison Keys -3.5 -133

Friday, July 5th, 2024

Underdog Marta Kostyuk is 20-12 in singles matches this season.

Kostyuk takes on Madison Keys after beating Daria Seville in 3 sets and a tiebreaker.

Madison Keys dominated Wang Yafan 6-2, 6-2 in her second round win.

Keys looks set for a deep Wimbledon run.

Lay the games.

Wimbledon Pick: Madison Keys

Jasmine Paolini -133 vs Bianca Andreescu +114

Friday, July 5th, 2024

Paolini is having a great 2024.

The French Open runner up has pocketed $2.85 million after winning a couple of doubles titles and a singles title.

But Bianca Andreescu should pose a problem for Paolini.

Andreescu, a former major title winner, has rediscovered her best form.

She’s looked fantastic in her first two matches.

Bianca sends Paolini home before the fourth round.

Wimbledon Pick: Bianca Andreescu

Emma Raducanu -145 vs Maria Sakkari +124

Friday, July 5th, 2024

9-seed Maria Sakkari is the underdog in this because Emma Raducanu has a massive home court edge.

But that’s not the only reason.

The 2021 US Open winner is a rising star in the sport.

Raducanu has looked great in two matches.

Ah, but so has Sakkari. The odds difference implies Emma should be the chalk, but Sakkari can get it done.

Back the underdog.

Wimbledon Pick: Maria Sakkari

Wimbledon Odds for Singles Third Round Matchday 1

Previous Betting News

It has been an interesting first week at Wimbledon, with plenty of upsets and play routinely suspended by rain and inclement weather. While the top seeds have survived the first round (and some the second round), there has been a number of notable upsets.

Let’s take a closer look at the Wimbledon betting odds for the men’s and women’s Singles Third Round matches.

Wimbledon Updates and Upsets

French Open finalist Casper Ruud saw his Wimbledon dreams come to an end in the second round with an upset loss 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 3-6, 0-6 to Liam Broady. American Taylor Fritz, who had the fifth-shortest odds to win the men’s draw on Thursday, also lost his second-round match to Swede Mikael Ymer. Fellow Americans Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe are through to the third round.

Andy Murray and Stefanos Tsitsipas are scheduled to resume their second-round match on Friday. Murray leads 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. The break could be beneficial for Tsitsipas, who needed four hours to win his first-round match against Dominic Thiem.

In the women’s draw, top seeds Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina are through to the third round. Aryna Sabalenka plays her second-round match today against Varvara Gracheva. Karolina Muchova, the 2023 French Open runner-up, lost her first-round match against Jule Niemeier in an upset result predicted by yours truly.

Wimbledon Must-Bet Matches

Christopher Eubanks (+255) vs. Cameron Norrie (-349)

American Christopher Eubanks meets Briton Cameron Norrie on Tuesday in one of the final second-round matches in the men’s draw. Eubanks beat Brazilian Thiago Monteiro in the first round on the strength of 20 aces and an 85 percent win percentage on first serve. Norrie, the world No. 12, beat Tomas Machac in four sets in the first round.

Norrie and Eubanks have never played each other on the ATP Tour. Both have had strong seasons, especially on grass, with Eubanks holding an 11-3 record compared to Norrie’s 3-1. Norrie, however, has played tough competition, with many of Eubanks’ matches coming in qualifying. Norrie is 15-6 in the last three years on grass and should be a safe bet to not only win this match but cover the -4.5 (-124) games spread.

MyBookie Betting Lines for the Match

Donna Vekic (-103) vs. Marketa Vondrousova (-121)

The third-round match between Donna Vekic and Marketa Vondrousova is one of the closest based on betting odds. The game’s spread is +0.5 (-112) for Vekic and -0.5 (-116) for Vondrousova. I’d be comfortable betting either the Vekic -103 ML or over 22.5 (-102) total games.

Vekic is 1-0 against Vondrousova, having beat the Czech player back in 2018 in the Hobart International. Vekic is 7-2 on grass this season and 18-9, dating back to 2021. Vondrousova is just 4-4 on grass since 2021 with a career 9-12 record on the surface.

2022 Wimbledon Betting Update: Best Round 3 Matches, Favorites So Far, and More

Previous Betting News

We’re now through the first round and well into second round play at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club. This year’s first and second round matches have seemed to have a lot more drama than in year’s past with several big name players already exiting the tournament and others having to battle against lower-ranked competition. Let’s have a look at the latest events surrounding The Championships tournament so you can continue with your bets against the Wimbledon Odds.

Must Bet 2022 Wimbledon Matches, Favorites, Upsets, Injuries, Surprises Heading Into Round 3

Updated Men’s Odds

Must-Bet Matches

Jannik Sinner (-163) vs John Isner (+130)

Jannik Sinner, world No. 13, reached the third round following four-set victories over Stan Wawrinka and Mikael Ymer. He’ll face a much tougher test in American John Isner in the third round.

Isner, 37, is having a solid season with a record of 13-12. He comes into this match having defeated home crowd favorite Andy Murray in four sets in the second round and is in a great position to score the upset. Isner has a history at Wimbledon, too, as he had the longest match in Grand Slam history there in 2010 and reached the semifinals in 2018.

Lesia Tsurenko (+120) vs Jule Niemeier (-150)

Jule Niemeier has a chance to make a name for herself at Wimbledon. The world No. 97 already defeated world No. 2 Anett Kontaveit in the second round in impressive fashion and seems poised to make a run in only her second Grand Slam.

Favorites

Novak Djokovic opened the tournament as a -125 favorite and is now -200. He’s up against fellow Serbian and world No. 30 Miomir Kecmanović in the third round. The 22-year-old won a pair of four-set matches to reach the third round.

Iga Swiatek, meanwhile, is now looking like a sure thing to win her first Wimbledon title. She has won 36 consecutive matches and shouldn’t be tested too much in her second round match against lesley Pattinama Kerkhove.

Upsets

There have already been several upsets in both the men’s and women’s draws, the most notable of which occured in the women’s draw early Wednesday afternoon. World No. 97 Jule Niemeier scored a dominant 6-4, 6-0 victory over world No. 2 Anett Kontaveit.

Kontaveit, a pre-tournament favorite, said she had been struggling with getting back in form after suffering from COVID earlier this season, but that doesn’t take away from Niemeier’s impressive victory.

In the men’s draw, both Hubert Hurkacz and Felix Auger-Aliassime were upset in the first round. Casper Ruud, world No. 6, lost to Ugo Humbert in the second round, but that wasn’t quite as shocking considering Ruud’s uninspiring performance on grass since reaching the French Open final.

Injuries

There have been no injuries of note through the first three days of action, but the men’s draw suffered another blow (world No. 1 and 2 Daniil Medvedev and Alex Zverev are already absent) when Matteo Berettini, runner-up at last year’s Wimbledon, was forced to withdraw after testing positive for COVID-19.

Surprises

While not perhaps an upset considering her play this season, it was at least surprising to see Emma Raducanu go down in two sets to Caroline Garcia on Centre Court Wednesday.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who upset Hurkacz in the first round, lost a tight five-set tiebreak match against Jiri Vesely. He lost the last point – and, ultimately, the match – on a violation.

ATP & WTA 2021 Wimbledon Betting Update: Evans, Jabeur, and Pliskova Through To Next Round

Previous Betting News

Tuesday, June 29, marked the second round of Wimbledon – the first since 2019, and much like its first round of play, it had to deal with unfortunate weather conditions. And while the English weather has left quite a mark on this year’s iteration of Wimbledon, it was the day two upsets and strong showings from the favorites that are the main topic of discussion.

Mybookie brings you a 2021 Wimbledon update, where we take a look at what has happened at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, which players impressed, and everything you’ll need to know to place a bet with Wimbledon Betting Odds.

Jabeur Coasts Into The Second Round With a Commanding Victory Over Peterson

The Tunisian 21st seed, Ons Jabeur, eased past Rebecca Peterson with 6-1, 6-2 to advance into the second round of 2021 Wimbledon. Although Jebaur entered the match as the betting favorite, not many expected her to look as dominant as she did.

The 26-year-old started the match by losing the first point of the set but got quickly back on her feet and stringed three consecutive points to grab a 3-1 lead. Peterson responded by reducing the gap to 2-3 but was unable to push further, losing the next three in quick succession.

Jabeur carried over the momentum into the next set, which she won 6-1, further solidifying herself as a strong candidate to go the distance.

Although the Tunisian is still a long way from reaching the final stages of the tournament, she can be happy with her showings on the day. This year marks only her third appearance at Wimbledon, where she never made it past R2.

In 2019, Jabeur lost to Petra Kvitova (4-6, 2-6) in her Wimbledon opener. Her best placement to date happened a year prior when Jabeur had to admit defeat to Katerina Siniakova (7-5, 4-6, 7-9) in the second round.

For the Swede, this marks her second early exit from Wimbledon. In 2019, she crashed out from the first round after losing to Ysaline Bonaventure (2-6, 4-6).

Pliskova Eliminates Zidanšek

Karolina Pliskova began her road to her maiden Grand Slam title with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Tamara Zidanšek. She is now set to face Donna Vekic, who eased past world no.80 Anastasia Potapova with 6-1, 6-4.

Although ranked no.19 in the world, Pliskova has yet to win a single Grand Slam in her career. She came close to reaching that feat on several occasions, including a finals appearance at the 2016 US Open.

She has since reached four quarter-finals at the Australian Open and US Open (2017,2018) and semi-finals at the 2019 Australian Open. Since then, Pliskova hasn’t made it further than R3 in any of the Grand Slam tournaments.

In Wimbledon, Pliskova reached R4 twice (2018, 2019) and is now on the right path to take one step further and make it into the final stages of the tournament.

For Zidanšek, her quest for her first Grand Slam ended today. It was a disappointing finish for the Slovenian, who left a strong statement with her semi-finals run at the 2021 French Open just a few weeks back.

Evans beats Lopez in Straight Sets

Dan Evans beat Feliciano Lopez (7-6, 6-2, 7-5) to advance into the second round of Wimbledon for the third time in his career. The British tennis player entered the match as a firm betting favorite but met strong resistance from the Spaniard.

The two fought for over two hours, with Lopez forcing two tight sets, but ended up short in the end. It marked Lopez’s fourth R1 exit at Wimbledon from 18 appearances.

As one of the most experienced players at the Grand Slam tournament, Lopez made it to three quarter-finals in Wimbledon (2005, 2008, 2011), but has not made it past R3 since 2014, when he got eliminated by Stan Wawrinka (6-7, 6-7, 3-6).

With his win over the grass-court veteran, Evans locked in his career third R2 appearance in Wimbledon. In 2019, Evans reached R3 but suffered a tight loss against Jao Sousa (6-4, 4-6, 5-7, 6-4, 4-6).

2019 Wimbledon Betting Odds, Preview & Picks for Round 3

Previous Betting News

While Americans take a well-earned day off for Independence Day on July 4th, the action will continue unabated across the pond at Wimbledon. Thursday will see then end of the second-round games in the men’s tournament, with the players on the bottom half of the draw looking to win and advance.

The top half of the draw has already had their second-round games decided, with the next set of games for those gents set to go on Friday the 5th. We are starting to get down to the more serious, more competitive games now, so let’s look ahead to some of the better-looking match-ups already set for Round 3 at Wimbledon while making some tennis betting predictions.

2019 Wimbledon Betting Odds, Preview & Picks for Round 3

Novak Djokovic (1) vs. Hubert Hurkacz

Djokovic comes into the third round of the competition having barely broken a sweat, winning his opening two games at Wimbledon in straight sets. He has always looked good when playing on grass and this start to the tournament suggests that he might be prepared to make a very deep run and perhaps even win it all.

His opponent in Round 3 will be unseeded Hubert Hurkacz, and up and coming young Polish player who has got to this stage by winning a pair of games in 4 sets. He is one to keep an eye for the future, but I believe his Wimbledon run comes to an end here.

Daniil Medvedev (11) vs. David Goffin (21)

This may well be the best game on tap for the third round, as we see a pair of seeded players go head to head in what should be an entertaining game. Medvedev won his opening game of the tournament in straight sets, but he was made to work a little harder in Round 2, beating Popyrin in 4 sets, albeit while never looking in any serious danger.

Goffin, on the other hand, has had a smooth passage through to this round, winning both of his games in straight sets. These two have only ever met once before, with Medvedev getting the win. Same result here, I believe.

Kevin Anderson (4) vs. Guido Pella (26)

It’s always fun when you get to see two players going head to head for the first time in their careers. That is what we are getting with this one. Anderson is very much favored to go deep in this tournament and started strong by winning in straight sets in the opening round.

He needed 4 sets to get past Tipsarevic in Round 2, but it was still a rather comfortable victory. It has not been such a smooth run for the Argentine player, with Pella needing 4 and 5 sets, respectively to get through to this stage. I think his run will come to an end against the #4 seed.

Reilly Opelka vs. Milos Raonic (15)

This Round 3 game will also see two players going head to head for the very first time. Opelka already has a seeded scalp under his belt and will be looking to make it 2 in a row here.

Opelka had a comfortable win in straight sets in the opening round before winning a 5-set thriller against #22 Stan Wawrinka in Round 2. It has been a good deal easier for Raonic, who has yet to drop a set through the opening two rounds. While this will be tougher for the Canadian, I still like Raonic to move on.
