Writer’s Breakdown and Pick for the Cowboys vs Browns Game

Road Dallas Cowboys

Tony Pollard is no longer with the Dallas Cowboys as the top running back.

The guy that is back is Ezekiel Elliott. He will lead the charge after spending last season with the Patriots.

Rico Dowdle, Dalvin Cook, and Deuce Vaughn will back him up.

Pollard left Dallas after 1,005 rushing yards last season.

Dak Prescott is back as the signal caller in Dallas.

Prescott finished with 4,516 yards and 36 touchdowns a season ago. He was sacked 9 times and threw 9 interceptions.

Cooper Rush remains the backup in Dallas.

His options in the passing game start with CeeDee Lamb.

Brandin Cooks and Jalen Tlbert will get chances with Jake Ferguson as the tight end.

Lamb was one of the best receivers a season ago, with 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Ferguson was second, with 761 yards.

Home Cleveland Browns

Cleveland finished last season with Joe Flacco under center.

He is no longer with the team, and the reigns are back to Deshaun Watson.

The signal-caller played six games last season and threw 7 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

Watson will still have two of his top targets back.

Amari Cooper was terrific last season with more than 1,200 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Tight end David Njoku was also strong, playing in 16 games and catching six touchdown passes.

Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore are the other receiving options to start the season.

The run game is going to be a question from sthe start.

Jerome Ford is the lead running back with Nick Chubb starting on the PUP list.

Pierre Strong Jr and D’onta Foreman are next in line for the Browns.

Dallas Stuns Cleveland

This is a great game to start the season.

Both teams are going to be fighting in their division for a chance to reach the postseason.

Without Nick Chubb, and questionable at the quarterback spot, we are not sold on Cleveland.

Therefore, we are going to take the visiting Dallas Cowboys on the road.

Our final bet for this game is the Dallas Cowboys on the money line.

Dallas +115 over Cleveland is the bet.

Week 9 NFL Expert Picks: Dallas Vs Cleveland

Previous Betting News

When Dak Prescott and the streaking Dallas Cowboys hit the road to take on the winless Cleveland Browns in their Week 9 mismatch, only one question needs to be asked. Are the ‘Boys locks to cover the spread as touchdown road favorites over the beleaguered Browns? Let’s find out now.

A Closer Look At The Week 9 NFL Expert Picks: Dallas Cowboys Vs Cleveland Browns

When: Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 1:00 PM ET
Where: FirstEnergy Stadium
NFL Odds: Dallas -7 / Total: 47

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys (6-1 SU, 6-0-1 ATS) are on a Philly cheesesteak-sized roll right now, having won six straight games, including their 29-23 win over NFC East rival Philadelphia last week. More importantly, the ‘Boys are now led by a pair of rock-solid rookies that look nothing like first-year players in running back Ezekiel Elliott and apparently unflappable quarterback Dak Prescott. While Elliott was expected to be a star at some point in his career after being drafted fourth overall, it is Prescott, a fourth round pick that has been arguably the biggest surprise in all of football this season.

For the season, Prescott is completing an impressive 65.2 percent of his passes for 1,773 yards with nine touchdowns, but more importantly, just two interceptions. Prescott has tossed two or more touchdown passes in three of his last four games while Elliott has rushed for a league-high 799 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, Dallas Cowboys is limiting the opposition to just 18.6 points per game to rank a surprising seventh in points allowed.

Cleveland Browns

Okay, if you can name Cleveland’s starting quarterback then you win a grand prize! Seriously though, the Browns (0-8 SU, 2-6 ATS) have gone through five quarterbacks this season and just don’t have enough talent on either side of the ball to really challenge anyone at this point, even though I expect them to be better with veteran Josh McCown back under center.

Cleveland fought its heart out, but ended up on the wrong side of a heartbreaking 31-28 loss against the Jets this past weekend. More importantly, the Browns are ranked a dismal 25th in scoring at 19.7 points per game while also ranking an awful 30th in points allowed (29.7 ppg).

Expert Prediction and Pick

Dallas is 5-0 ATS in its last five games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games while Cleveland has gone 1-4 ATS in their last five games and a pitiful 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 home games. Cleveland won’t have an answer for Dak Prescott, nor will they be able to stop the Ezekiel Elliott Express Train. The Cowboys win and cover the spread with room to spare.

Pick: Dallas 35 Cleveland 21
